Came here on a recommendation from a friend for my daughter's prom dress. The work they did was terrible. The hem they completed was not even straight and they altered my daughter's prom dress by making a crooked line down the middle of dress ( that was not there before). When I pointed out their error, they acknowledged their poor work and made the hem straight. However, why would they make alterations be visible and make a straight in the middle of the dress??? They changed the look of the dress and made it look cheap . Stessi Alterations work was poor and very pricy! Definitely would not recommend this place. Stay away!!!! read more

Is Stessi still there? She was not this past Friday or today, Monday. The two women that were there told me she was on vacation and would be back Monday. When I went today the same two women told me she was back, but she did not appear. I let one of them pin my dress (a very simple a-line dress not a formal) that I would have paid $75 for in the past. Today, the price was $120. I had them unpin it and took it back. I took a business card with me. When I got home and looked at the card it said "Marina Clothing/Anna's Evening Wear" - has anyone heard that Stessi may be gone? read more

I had my wedding dress altered here. No appt. necessary, I walked in, told her what I wanted and had my dress back in about a week. I am beyond pleased with the work and the price was very reasonable. I came in early April and I'm told I was lucky because it wasn't busy season just yet (prom/wedding season can be crazy) so if you are needing something done during busy season make sure you give yourself a couple of weeks at least. This lady is magic! If you're having any doubts, don't! She's truly amazing, works extremely fast, and does some amazing work! I came in with a wedding dress 2-3 sizes too big and in one week, she got it done BEAUTIFULLY! Mind you my dress is super complex and has a huge over skirt that needed to be attached. I've gotten a dress, a skirt and a pair of shorts altered here and they always do an amazing job. They're also very quick too if it's not high season (prom and wedding). Only gave 3 stars because the work is good But the attitude of the people working there will make me look elsewhere to go. I came in to pick up my stuff some blonde old lady literally barked at me , rolled her eyes and screamed in my face what my name was . I asked her to calm her attitude she did the fake smile & said is this BETTER!!! I'm the biggest blogger in Brooklyn Trends to Inspire and send a lottttt of clients here ( which I will advice against going here next time ) and no client should ever be spoken to like I was some trash off the street. The owner was there & heard it & didnt bother coming out to apologize for her staffs behavior. I have chosen o update my original review to reflect the poor attitude of the owner here. Initially I thought I could deal with it since my clothes were tailored well but after a second experience, I have decided that this is not the place for me. I don't know what goes on in the personal life of the owner or the others but they are cold and quiet mean. Not friendly at all. Even though they do good work, I will not discredit them for that, it's important to be kind to people especially when you're charging $40 to hem a pair of pants. read more

After going to Monica's bridal and paying over $500 for alterations, Tanya saved my wedding dress!! Within 30 mins Tanya saw my vision for my wedding dress and pinned me in all the right places after Monica's told me it couldn't be done. We had 1 week to add cups, take the dress in at the waist and bottom, attached the corset to the gown, add a strap in the back for support, sew lace onto the strap so it was covered, and change the sleeves to fall off the shoulder. Woman there is super rude and based on that, I packed the dress up and walked out. If you don't know how to treat customers then you are in the wrong business lady! I was surprised by some of the bad reviews. I had my gown hemmed for my nieces wedding. The lady who helped me was very nice and was helpful in assisting me as I suffered a knee injury and needed assistance stepping up on platform to be fitted. I went here to get my jeans tailored a few times, and I got them tapered and hemmed but they used rainbow stitching to cut and put the jeans back and I wear my jeans cuffed so everytime I cuff them they would show the rainbow stitching. I went to them a handful of times back when they were across the street from Gap on 86th. The customer service is very spotty. To be frank, they can come off as really rude. But the most important thing about their business.... the quality of the work is very spotty. They can do a good job but I had pants hemmed before where the threading broke. I've had them take in the waist of a pair of pants and when it was finished it was far too tight. But I have had work from them that was fine. The prices are comparable to the neighbor but there are better prices nearby. With that being said, I have stopped going to them and brought my business to other tailors. With lower prices and customer service that isn't rude, I've foregone the hassle that is stessi sometimes. read more

Not only were they extremely rude and disrespectful, they would never admit they're wrong and they think they are perfect. The hem of my dress was unacceptable. I took a white linen jacket in to have the back let out and the sleeves taken up. I was charged $50. There was no sign that they had let the back out, in fact, the thread on the vent hadn't even been cut. The job on the sleeve was the sloppiest I have ever seen; you can actually see the stitches.
