I asked her "can you sew the original hem back on?" since many tailors that I've been to over the years do just that She said no, too thick. She will hem it to look just like the original. Okay, fine. Well I arrive to pick them up and the hem on the jeans is a solid 1" thick wide. I nearly blew a gasket. I calmly explain that this looks nothing like the hem on a pair of jeans, which is what I said I wanted. She apologized and rehemmed the jeans while I waited. Nevertheless, I think I'll take my next alterations elsewhere.

When I pointed out their error, they acknowledged their poor work and made the hem straight. However, why would they make alterations be visible and make a straight in the middle of the dress??? Short version: this review is for 0 stars. She held onto my pants for over five weeks, each time I…read morecalled she pretended like she was going to do them in the next week. When I finally got them she was confused why I was there, and after I took the pants to another tailor I realized she had actually stolen a pair of my slacks. Long version: I called a few places looking for a tailor to repair holes in the crotches of my jeans and a pair of dress pants. One pair of jeans needed to be hemmed. I wanted to make sure that she was actually there for me to drop them off, so I had to call her three times before she picked up. When she finally did pick up, she was practically yelling over me the entire time, to the point where I couldn't even explain why I was calling. Nonetheless, because she was so close, I figured I would risk it. I dropped off the pants that afternoon, explained everything to her, and she said she would get to it next week. I told her she could take as much as two weeks but after that I would need them. So a week goes by, I give her a call, again she's belligerent and angry for the simple fact that I guess she had to pick up the phone. What should be a two-minute phone call turns into nearly 10 minutes while she's giving me excuses as to why she has not even begun work on my pants. So I ask her if she needs another week, she eventually says yes, and I thought that was it. Two more weeks go by, I give her another call because clearly she hasn't called me. Again, she's confused and angry as to why I'm calling because I guess everybody just walks in on her? Anyways, again she has not done the work, again she's making all sorts of excuses as to being busy with other work, and I asked her how that was my problem. No response. More arguing. She tells me she can do it again by the end of the week or next week. I say okay, and hang up. Two more weeks go by because I'm busy with work and whatnot, and then I remember that I still have pants at the tailors. I give her yet another call, of course she picks up angry and confused, and she tells me that she can't have it, you guessed it, until next week because she's busy. I tell her that's absolutely ridiculous, she doesn't seem fazed. I tell her that that's absolutely unacceptable and reiterate all the things that she said to me, and how I'm supposed to have these pants 4 weeks ago. Again, all she does is argue, so I decided right there I was just going to go and pick them up. When I arrived that afternoon, she seemed surprised to see me, and I did all I could to not scream profanities at this woman. I felt like I was trying to get a mule to do calculus. Regardless I get my bag of pants, and I turn to leave, and then she asked me to sign some paper just in case "someone comes to pick them up". What? Who is going to pick up my pants except me? Furthermore, who even knows these are here after almost 6 weeks? I smiled, told her she had wasted enough of my time, and left while she was still muttering about signing the paper. A couple 3 days later I took them to a much better tailor closer to my work, and came to find out that she had stolen a pair of my pants. So I cannot speak about her craftsmanship, because after almost 6 weeks I had no evidence of it. I can tell you that this is about the worst customer service I have ever received from anyone, anywhere. She charges relatively inexpensive prices, but apparently won't work on anything that isn't going to be a more expensive job. I think it's time to hang up your sewing machine grandma. I'd like all the time you wasted of mine back.

I had to go to a second tailor specializing in weddings, and they commented on how shoddy the tailoring was and had to undo a lot of the work. I think I'd go to E&L if I needed my pants hemmed or if the sleeves on a shirt were too long, but would probably look elsewhere for something more complex.
