I was married at the Sterling in 345 Hicksville Road Bethpage, New York, and I need to make other People aware to ensure you don't get screwed over like I did! My issue is only related to the photography company MAXphoto. I got married in May 17th at the Sterling,it took them 5 Months To edit My Weeding video, i still Didn't Received My Weeding Photo Album. The wedding coordinator that looked after our wedding was absolutely amazing, she was so helpful and thoughtful through the entire process, and the photographer himself was absolutely amazing too! As a former worker of this facility, it is an absolute terror working there and overall being there. The waiters and staff aren't terrible. But, if you're looking to give tips to someone especially a waiter directly hand it to that person because the managers pocket the tips. The kitchen and halls it self are filthy, they've had roach, mice and raccoon infestations. I don't know how this place is still in business. read more

Place is a disgusting mess with the ceilings leaking, plates stained with either curry or food from whenever last used, water glasses also stained with some nasty white looking scum all over, and th kitchen is ran like a disgusting sweat shop with water all over the floor and infestated with roaches and flies that get in the food and water. Not to mention the owners abuse staff and cut their hours to avoid paying them fairly. I really like this venue! I've been to three weddings here and they have all been spectacular. The Saturday night events seem to have valet, but there is none on Sunday nights. This isn't an issue as not many events happen on Sunday evening so it's easy to self-park. The food has always tasted great and the servers are courteous. It's a beautiful venue. They have a cocktail area, a bridal suite, and a banquet hall. I will say that the buffet-style they have gets a bit confusing at times since the grandiose decorations make it hard to see the food that's around the centerpieces. However, all the weddings were 400+ people and there wasn't an issue with lines. They have multiple buffet stations to keep the crowd to a minimum. Every time I've been here, the menu has been new and delicious. I always look forward to coming here. read more

Yikes... might have been the worst wedding event I've attended. I'm not sure how much was due to the poor organization of the evenings festivities, sheer madness in terms of number of guests (400 or so), or inconsiderateness of the staff. To be fair, I'll start with some positives. The venue is pretty nice... a little gaudy for my taste... but there are great areas for photo opportunities. The fake flowers may even fool some guests. The food is decent considering it's being prepared in bulk quantities. The negatives... I'll start by saying for a table of 14, one small pitcher of water is not enough. The waitstaff did not refill our water pitcher. When we asked the waitstaff to please refill it, they said to ask our waiter... who did not come by at all. We then politely asked the bartender to refill the pitcher and he said to ask our waiter. We went through dinner and dessert with no water and were dehydrated the entire night because the staff refused to be helpful. Dessert service was complete madness... we stood in a line and didn't move for almost 5 minutes because the staff was serving people who cut in and reached over others who were waiting in line. The silverware and chairs were crusted with debris and dry food particles. Based on the experience here, I will never want to host or attend another event at the Sterling! read more

I have been here for several weddings and receptions. My family in Long Island uses them frequently. Is catering hall is beautiful. When you walk into the lobby is a very tall vase with flowers and crystals. Perfect for taking pictures. Actually there are plenty of nice places in the lobby and outside on the ground to take lovely pictures. The bathrooms are very gorgeous as well. Floor to ceiling mirrors and a powder room and seating to fix your makeup are there as well. The reception space is always very dressed up and beautiful. I've been to several Hindu weddings and receptions. The catering that they do is delicious. I've never had a bad meal here. The staff is always been very professional and courteous . The wait staff is very quick to serve and clear the table. I always know when the invitation says the venue will be at The Sterling, we will be attending a top notch event. read more

I had my wedding with the Sterling on 6/25. If you want a wedding but ballin on a budget this is your place. It is beautiful inside and out! No doubt about that. I worked with Bill and Diane throughout most of my planning and they are truly amazing human beings. So nice, thoughtful and are great at what they do. They answered all my questions and made my day beautiful. All of the vendors they work with are amazing, ADA studios were a pleasure, tony and stefano were great & made us all laugh and sensational sounds had everyone dancing the whole night. My only hang up with the Sterling was the wait staff. Extremely rude to my guests. They dropped everything ALL night long and seemed inexperienced. During cocktail hour they dropped a whole bowl of sauce behind me in my wedding dress.. they also dropped a knife & someone almost slipped. & a platter of desserts. Pretty on the inside and out... but quality of service sucks. I went for my best friends baby shower. I was impressed with the regalness of the building. I found my way to the room despite looking lost and no one offering help. The staff was still setting up tables (we arrived 40 mins early). As they set the water glasses down. I noticed several at my table had a white film on them. It appeared the staffers did try to was the glasses, but detergent and food residue were still on the glasses. Some still had lipstick from previous users. This was brought to their attention by the host, but the staffers continue to put the glasses out on the table. When the host started handing glasses back to the staff, those were the only glasses to staffers took to the back to clean. Finally all the classes were taken from the table to be cleaned. when the glasses came back, they were filled with ice and water. I held the glasses up to the light and could still see the water spots on glasses and lipstick on others. They did not clean those glasses. I did not drink out of those glasses. I spotted another staff member wiping off each plate that was to be used at the event with a damp cloth. That was concerning as I would expect for the plates to have been properly cleaned and ready for use when they were sent out. There was one staff member that did not understand the meaning of food being served and incorrectly labeled a particular food stating that it had meat in the dish when it was actually tofu. The majority of the people at the ceremony were vegetarian. I was not impressed with this venue and especially not their cleanliness. I keep asking myself how can a staff member sit out dirty glasses and plates for patrons to use, would they be comfortable using the glassware, stemware, cutlery that they were turning a blind eye to?! read more

Having a drink during cocktail hour, I was approached by a waiter who offered hot dogs in blankets. I knew better, but took one. I think Dollar Tree has better. Then god cold spring rolls. The driest macaroni salad with no taste....didn't recognize what I was told was chicken parm, Pasta station, sauce without any flavor, Ragu would be welcomed. We tried to eat, but had to stop. Our plates remained in front of us for at least 30 minutes (yes!). I was so sick of looking at them that I put them the plates to end of the table myself. There they sat for another half hour until I decided to pick them up myself and move them somewhere. The cocktail hour salad table was out through dinner and beyond! The cake tasted stale, it was probably from the night before. I don't know if these people know anything about the catering business but it does not appear the possibly could. Completely understanding all of the "terrible management" comments both her and on google reviews now. We are in uncertain times and the fact that The Sterling Caterers has shown such a disregard for people's financial situation now is disgusting. My aunt has offered to leave them with the $2k deposit and requested a refund of the $3k that is not due until we rebook and have been refused. No final decisions were made. Nothing on their end has had to been paid for at this point. Why wouldn't the money outside of the deposit be refunded? She's even tried to reduce the headcount to fit state guidelines and they've refused. I'll definitely be spreading the word to all my NY brides and event hosts. read more

My friend hosted a bat mitzvah party for her daughter here. The inside is just beautiful, everything is marble and very classy. The party hall had a very interesting dance floor. The dance floor was lit with electronic lights, I think LED lights. When we walked in the words on the floor said "Jennifer's bat mitvah!" As the party went on and the bat mitzvah candle lighting ceremony took place, the words on the floor changed to the names of whoever was lighting candles. Here's my quick review based on a Sweet 16 event I attended last night: Venue. Beautiful. Grounds are well kept and the actual venue is very pretty inside. Parking lot could be better lighted and signs for additional parking would help. Bathrooms were not cleaned during the evening and with several events going on I will leave it to your imagination about the kind of mess and lack of toilet paper that ensued. Food. Meh. Not terrible but not outstanding. To be fair, the portions were so small it was kind of difficult to even make an accurate assessment. Suffice to say we did a Wendy's run after the event at 2am. Staff. Nothing short of miserable. Everyone was unhappy, sullen, annoyed. From maitr'd when you walked in who yelled at my kid for eating a snack in the lobby. To the unhappy waiters who were constantly shoving us aside. To the attendant who was sweeping during the speeches. The bartender tried his best but was sorely unprepared for the level of drinking and shots our group required. I recently got married here on 9/23/18. My wedding turned out to be everything my husband and I had imagined. We had a certain vision and were iffy at first if it would be possible since we were using a lot of The Sterling's in house services but our event coordinator (and later maitre'd) Pooja absolutely went above and beyond for us. She sat down with us for hours and made sure every detail was how we wanted it. She was also very easy to reach and allowed us to text/call her at any time with any changes or issues we had. The night of my event, when I first saw the ballroom, I was shocked because it was better than what I had imagined. It didn't even look like the Sterling I'm used to seeing. Overall we were very well taken care of during the planning process and the night of our event. Our guests had a great time and we also got good feedback on the food! read more

Tonight I attended an event at The Sterling that was an Indian Community social gathering\awards banquet. The first thing that strikes your attention upon entering the property is the lighting. It's breathtaking. Multi colored and set in motion, it's a sight to behold. The landscaping and waterfall are gorgeous. When you enter the hall, the inside is not just aesthetically pleasing but also comfortable and inviting for lounging and socializing. The food servicevworkers were friendly, helpful and professional. The food was DELICIOUS but it was catered from an Indian chef they brought in from India for the event, not cooked by the hall. During the cocktail hour I was filling up my plate, going around the various serving stations more times than Dale Earnhardt Jr circling the NASCAR track. Finally someone was like uh you know this is just the cocktail hour and there's going to be a dinner... In the other room the Plainview fire department was having their Christmas party and they all appeared to be having a jolly good time. This place would be awesome for a wedding. Or a DIVORCE party! Or a sweet 16 or bar mitzva. Its centrally located close to the Seaford Oyster Bay Expressway, hence close to the Nassau-Suffolk border so convenient if you have guests spread out that live all over. read more

The place looks really nice when you first walk in, at the main entrance, which is the only reason why I'd give it two stars instead of one. We went to a wedding here last month, and once we got out of the lobby I didn't even wanna sit down anywhere. The room where the ceremony was had water damage all over the walls and ceiling, the chairs had chipped paint all over them. It looked so cheap. Second room, cocktail hour, same thing. The rug was literally duct taped onto the floor, and again, old cheap chairs that had chipped paint onto them. Now for the next part, the reception. You get like, absolutely no food. The guy coming around serving the penne alla vodka looked like he was 12, dropped a piece of pasta from the serving spoon onto the table, and then picked it up with his hand and put it into my father in laws dish. I really liked this catering hall. Although I was a guest I had a great time, and I had good food too. I was here for an Arab- Indian wedding. The room was economical for the family but had great features. I was not too fond of the lighting , but I definitely had a great experience. There was cool lights all around, and different decor surrounding me. The dance floor had the names of the bride and groom. I actually thought it would break if I stepped on it, but it didn't which was interesting I admit! For such a small room, it could fit all the food sanctions and entertainment m sanctions. The baked ziti, and alferdo pasta was marvelous. The Indian food was not spicy but delicious. I enjoyed the butter chicken and naan, along with aloo samosas. Moving around was not a huge deal, it was spacious. The chai was my fave part, but I did not get desserts due to the long line of people. The bathroom was fancy itself too, i deemed it my selfie area. I took great pictures outside the room and in the bathroom area. The staff was helpful and they kept cleaning around. I was pleased and maybe one day I would do my wedding here lol. I like this place, and you too should come along. I wish I could've gone to the largest room where a Punjabi party was being hosted, it was very nice from what I saw as well. The place has good rooms! The Sterling has failed to work with their customers effectively during this pandemic. They are not able to host the party my relative had planned nor are they refunding her. Additionally, they have spoken about up charging her if the party is moved to next year. None of the management staff has been of any help. I went to a friend's wedding at this place and the couple chose to hold the service and the reception in the same venue. The service was an hour long Hindu ceremony. It's unfortunate that the couple decided to hold the quiet and traditional ceremony part here because a few minutes into it, the heavy vibration and sound of the bass of the music from another party somewhere next door started droning on through the ceremony, growing louder and louder. Shortly thereafter, a small crowd from another event poured into a nearby suite, *which was through two double sets of doors and a long hallway, mind you*, and yet somehow the noise of the boisterous laughing and carrying on was so pronounced that it seemed like it was headed through the door and into the room where our ceremony was. It was disruptive and went on for a really long time. There were plenty of staff around that could have checked up on it, but nothing happened. Happily, the couple and the family seemed to be fairly relaxed about it. The reception and cocktail hour were both very pleasant however, and the servers were all very attentive to our friends and all of the guests. They seemed very eager to make everyone happy. They went out of their way for the bride and groom, so because of this, I feel somewhat bad to report the noise situation. I think if they had just chosen to have a separate ceremony and just had their reception here, it would have been better for them. The food was typical catering fare with an Indian/American twist, nothing stand-out, except for the great desert spread, which was presented with much awesome cheesy fanfare. Kind of fun. read more

Had my daughter's marriage reception here Also, we took the premium package with the idea that we'd get the best that's available. ( Chateau la Mer & Sterling are owned by same people ) we definitely had a better experience at sterling with the manager being Pooja who did a great job. However, at Sterling there was no ac in the brides room and my daughter was sweating while sitting in the same spot for hours while having her makeup done. Very unprofessional on that part and major reason for the four stars instead of 5. Actually I would give them 4 and a half considering the food being fantastic & the staff pleasant too & We will acknowledge that we had a great DJ from iNaach. Overall, if you're interested in this hall, I would definitely recommend sterling and pooja as the manager. However, while booking a photographer and a DJ as part of your package, make sure to ask to see their work and consult with pooja so you'll be sure that you'll be satisfied.....make your expectations crystal clear. sure to give us better ones for the event. read more

Such a beautiful place! That is including the outside with a waterfall. I attended this place for a wedding and I arrived for cocktail hr right on time. The drinks were sooo good (cranberry and vodka) as well as the appetizers. I had hummus, pita brad, fruits, crab cakes. Everything tasted very fresh. The reception area was beautiful with chandeliers, flowers as center pieces as well on the ceiling. They had a great DJ that kept the party going. The food seemed good but didn't have much since it was too late for me to eat. I recommend this place for whoever would like to celebrate a special occasion. read more

I had my wedding here. And I must say I was very disappointed. As this is the first choice for a lot of our family weddings. 1. My wedding/party coordinator was disorganized and forgetful. Which is a big deal when trying to plan. Many times I had to remind her of things that needed to be done. 2. I bought candles to put on the tables which werent even lit for my reception and some tables never got any candles. 3. Many of my guest complained that the food was cold when they received it. Very bad experience with this place. My daughter went to a Sweet 16 on Aug 25th. The dj had cubes that they let the kids stand up on to dance. Pieces of the chandelier broke off and fell onto the dance floor. Many of the kids got glass in their feet. My daughter got cut on the top of her feet. The staff was not helping the kids and were very rude to them. They didn't alert the hostess about the incident of many kids getting cut by the glass. I called and spoke to Bill who never apologized for his staff. He basically said the girls were lying and he was told a different story. I would NOT use this place because they have no regard for minors and should have spoken to a grown up the minute it happened! They have parties here all the time and many children are at them without their parents. I would NOT trust them with your children! He never apologized when a few parents called to speak to him and other employees of his. Use Verdis in Westbury it is a much more professional establishment for parties that minors go to. PARENTS BE WARE!!!-----UNACCEPTABLE!!! My daughter went to a party over the weekend. While on the dance floor she and her friends noticed that their FEET were BLEEDING!!! Instead of being assisted by a staff member they were yelled at. The other kids on the dance floor physically carried them out to the lobby to help them clean their bloody feet...the kids took videos of this.... They were handed a first aid kit and left to fend for themselves. No staff members helped them, no incident report was made, no call for emergency service was made. The video shows several pieces of glass being removed from their feet. I spoke to Diane the banquet manager she said that the kids were all jumping on a stage and DAMAGED the Chandelier and that is how the glass broke. Regardless of what caused the damage and the broken glass the staffs response was UNACCEPTABLE!!!! The lack of attention that night leaving BLEEDING CHILDREN ALONE, and NOT having a INCIDENT report completed and offering MEDICAL ATTENTION is NEGLIGENT. The response by management is also unacceptable as well as unprofessional placing blame on my daughter and other party goers. Over all the SAFETY protocol need to be reviewed and dealt with in a more responsible way. They open up their doors to our children for various events they should beheld accountable fort heir safety on their property at all times!!!!!!!!!! read more
