CUSTOMERS BE AWARE OF LAMBROUS CATERING AND THE OWNER NICK!!! My sister and I had my nieces graduation party there on Saturday June 27th and let me start off by saying we booked this place in January as the place we originally had booked had a scheduling conflict. We went and meet with Nick and in the beginning he was nice we left a deposit and signed the contract. When we were talking to Nick we asked him about the parking lot as there was a lot amount of cars in the lot, he said I rent spaces out and they pay me, I then proceeded to ask where the guests will be parking and he said in the spots that were available if not on the street. Which I didn't think was right that to make guest of the party park on the street and not move the cars in his lot. we made him aware my aunt and myself are highly allergic to shrimp and he wrote this on the contract, and said he will change the oil on Wednesday before the party as he does fry the shrimp in the same oil as everything else, he said the final payment will be due the Wednesday before party as that's when he places the order for food for the party, well this is when Nicks attitude made a 360 turn real fast. February he was leaving for Florida and he contacted us for more money as he said he's going to Florida and needed more money, we thought ok that's strange but we went and put more money Down. We then asked to do a food tasting as we never had his food before and have heard from people after booking the party that the food was terrible. We don't go by people's words so we wanted to try the food. He had us come while a party was going on and he knew how allergic I was to shrimp and brings out 4 dishes 1 dish for the 4 of us there and all 4 plates had shrimp on them. Now this put a huge concern with us as we told him numerous times how highly allergic I was to shrimp, his response was that's right you are allergic and laughed it off. WELL THE FOOD WAS TERRIBLE AS MY SISTER, AND MY NIECES ALL TRIED THE FOOD and I didn't want to take a chance of cross contamination or going into anaphylactic shock. The penne alla vodka was watered down no taste, chicken franchese was watered down with a tinge of lemon tasting.. We went again in May to put more money down and at that time he was asking us how many people we are having, what colors we were thinking, another strange question as the party was still a month and a half away. We told him we didn't know as the RSVP date was still a month away and we were most likely going to go with blue and gold as that's what my nieces school colors are. When we went in MAY we also explained to him we were not happy with the food and we wanted to bring our own food in and we would do a full open bar and he can provide the carving station and provide 2 dishes.. he agreed to this and said I will definitely work with you on the pricing. Which we honestly thought the pricing was absurd @65.00 per person for adults and we were still bringing in all the food. Technically we were bringing the whole party to his venue. Every time we went to the hall during the week to give more money he was constantly rushing us and all he was worrying about was getting more money, the hall was completely disgusting from the party's from past weekends as it seems obviously they don't care how the place looks while showing guest.Fast forward to the week before the party he called my sister asking for the final balance and head count, my sister said she had to discuss with me as I was not available when he called, I then reached back out to him and he wanted to meet up on Father's Day for final payment and color of linens. I told him we weren't available on Father's Day, he then said what about Monday I told him I'm working a 12 hour shift Monday and Tuesday that Wednesday as discussed before works better for us, he said no Wednesday isn't good and he need the final payment. Well after working a 12 hour shift on Monday June 22 we got there at 9pm. So my sister and I get there and he says let me show u the room and how we will set this up, again the room was completely filthy from the party he had from June 20. He said oh we haven't had time to clean the room but on the day of your party the room will be cleaned. We go into the office to go over everything and I specifically said u are changing the oil on Wednesday as discussed from our prior conversations and his answer was absolutely not, I just changed the oil on Saturday as it was dirty and I can't change it again. This is when I explained to him, we told him several times how allergic I was and one of our aunts and how he kept saying he will and it was clearly said on contract. He started yelling at us saying he can't do that and my sister said how dare you yell at us as we are paying guest. This now also put more red flags up and my sister said I honestly can't trust the oil. Saturday comes we get there at 12pm to decorate, the room was completely disgusting old food on floor, room smelt like gas and smelt like piss, fake nails all over the place, the seat covers all dirty ripped and even some had staples in them to cover up the holes. I told him the room is disgusting and he said don't worry I will have someone vacuum before you come in later, I go into the kitchen where he was cause I needed something and he already changed the oil and was frying up potato pancakes in a frying pan for our party which started at 7pm. We turned the lights on to continue to decorate and he kept coming into the room and shutting the main chandelier off and told us that chandelier throws off a lot of electricity and it gets expensive, I said to him that's very unprofessional and we needed light to decorate and he said no it's expensive, I now go back into the kitchen and the linen closet was completely disgusting and shit thrown all over the place very unorganized, we continue decorating and asked him to turn the ac on as in the room was very hot and muggy he turned it on and he disappeared, we brought in our own linens, napkins and he left glasses out and told me to put the glasses on each table and put the napkins in them, we were there to decorate and not do his job as a venue host. we finished setting up and we got there at 6:50 for the party, he's standing by the bar with a filthy shirt on as he hasn't washed the shirt in forever and room was still disgusting with stuff still over the floor. As the party is going on our guest asked where our bartender was as they were waiting on drinks I go to him and said who's bartending the party he said I am, him as the owner is bartending a party not cool, he said my daughters wedding was last night and I'm very short handed cause they all got too drunk to work. I said we paid full price for full open bar and we expect to have a bartender there at all times, his response was I'm short handed and I'm entitled to go to the bathroom or in the kitchen if needed.. my guest that we're getting drinks were tipping and saw him putting all the tips into his pocket, again very unprofessional. Then throughout the night my dj saw him just sitting in one of the chairs at the bar watching the World Cup instead of making sure the party ran smoothly, NICK IS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND VERY RUDE!! Our Food comes out and his 2 dishes come out as well as the carving station and we noticed they were cutting London broil when we wanted roast beef, no heating lamp for the carving station, one of the guest said the pepper steak was very fatty and chewy. Party is now over and we started taking our linens off the tables and cleaning up and I went to speak with him about the bar situation how the room was filthy and how he was supposed to work on the price with us and he started yelling at me saying i absolutely will not work with you and that we had a problem with the other place and had a problem with him so maybe we are the problem!! We never had a problem with the other place it was a scheduling conflict and they returned our deposit to us. He then proceeded to say by the way the food you brought in sucked. I'm sorry why is he eating our food he should be eating his own.. Our food that we got was from D'Coccos in Oceanside and all of the guest said was was delicious, all the food we brought in he didn't give us all the food to take home. He did charge us a 20% service fee which he explained to us that this money will go to all of his staff as a tip . we were speaking with all of his staff and they said to us that he doesn't pay them any extra tips and if the customers gave them tips Nick makes them all give them back to him and he keeps the tips. so I will say it again STAY FAR AWAY FROM LAMBROUS AND NICK THE OWNER FOR YOUR NEXT SPECIAL EVENT AS HE WILL MAKE SURE HE RUINS IT FOR YOU. I want to especially thank Lambrou's for being open for dinner on Christmas Day. We've visited Lambrou's for dinner and various events over the years, so their quality and atmosphere is very well known to my family. With my family displaced by Hurricane Sandy, we called/visited 4 or 5 places in the area and found that none would be open on Christmas Day and, while I'm sure other restaurants were open also, we gladly made our reservations at Lambrou's and had a very enjoyable evening. read more

I wish that more people have given Lambrou a chance. With so many trendy places with celebrity chefs, Lambrou's stands out as an honest, family owned business with fantastic, fresh food. Yes, it's not a scenster kind of place, and probably, would appeal more to older crowd and families. We have had a party for my 1 year old, a 75th birthday for my Mom, and also, attended 2 of the Halloween parties. read more
