Matt Bean is awesome! On a very rainy day we had a roof leak. He came to our home that day, got up on the roof to determine the origin, and got off the roof just as it started to rain again. He came back the following week (after thr roof dried out) and made the repairs himself. Matt is responsive, a good listener, knowledgable, explains the work to be done, thorough, personable, great customer service skills. I had Stephens come out and do a full new roof repair on my house after a storm back in late 2021. That said, 2 years later we have water coming through our roof at the valley where the A-frame and flat roof interfere. I called Stephens and they scheduled us for the coming Saturday to pull everything back and allegedly flash in both directions and reseal seems. Whether they did that or not, I am unsure, because they were not at my house long enough for me to finish a shower and come out and talk with them. They were in and out within 30 mins, not nearly long enough for what needed to be done. On top of that, noone even checked in as they were leaving to let me know it was corrected. Not to worry though, 3 weeks later and water is coming through my vent hood 2 feet adjacent at the same valley, this time shooting sparks where the water was dripping down into overhead electrical. So again, we call Stephens. This time they're going to let us wait out the additional 12 hours of rain and then come back Friday. Hopefully they'll fix it right this time and not further bandaid a bad install. I'll update this post if things take a turn, but currently we are unimpressed with what we've always known to be a good name. read more

Had company come out for a leak. Price was decent but this company does not give warranty on any patch repair only on complete roof replacement. Communication was horrible throughout the process. They could not schedule me until 2 weeks out. Contractor showed up fix the roof and left without saying a word. I had to call the office to see what was going on. In the end the leak was still leaking. Called them back to see if they were able to do something about the work they did since they did not repair the leak with the work they provided. They said they would have to charge because they do not give warranty on patch repair. It is noted in the contract. Decided to ask anyways. Ended up hiring another company. I do not recommend this company to anybody. read more

These guys are quick to jump on your job. I had a very small tile job to be done. Boards exposed first time looked horrible. They sent someone else out then they just covered boards with ice water shield still visually exposed. Was supposed to match my house with mortar on ridges. Then they come back out again and do mortar but isn't the right color number one. Number 2 they get it all over tile roof. Looks insanely bad. Of course I'm not paying. They get mad that I hauled off extra material after it sat for over 2 months in the front of my house then they put a lien on my property. I will post pictures later. Can't make this stuff up..... It has been 10 months since the first disastrous gutter installation. I have complained many times and finally they came out to "fix" it. The job is not fixed. I regret a million times trusting them with my home. If you need gutters save yourself a nightmare and stay away from this company! I am pretty sure gutters aren't supposed to leak at the joints!! I got a quote from the nice salesperson for a 75,000 dollar job. The told us they would start work in a June/July 2022. We touched base many times following summer 2022 because nothing had been started. They said they would send people out to assess what needs to be done more specifically (people came out on 5/6 different occasions to look at the job), and then give us an official start date. It's now June 2023 and I have never heard back from the company about a start date. 1.5 years after initial singing of contract. Luckily there was no deposit to fight to get back because we happily took our business elsewhere. At the end of the day I'm feeling grateful it went this way because the quality of their work seems to be as questionable as their communication. We went with Alvarado's building and remodeling, and the project came out wonderfully. Even if there was bumps in the road(it was a multi-step project) there was always timely and clear communication. The job is never closed until you are happy with everything, and the pricing was fair. We compared multiple quotes, and met with a handful of companies. Stephen's Roofing had to cancel my first appt to replace my roof and didn't bother calling me. In fact, they seriously lack in communicating. My roof still needs work and I haven't heard from them. Then when I did get the roof re-done, they didn't paint the board they replaced as per the contract. I wasted money on paint they said I had to provide and they didn't use it. So, they came back and painted that board but not the decking! I'm an old lady - do they expect me to climb 15' up there and do it? I came home from work and they were still working. My front door was blocked and I couldn't get in to see if my electricity was on - they had to disconnect for the repair. No one on site spoke English and the office was closed, of course. No one answered the cell phone number they gave me. CPS energy stayed on the line with me as I picked past the truck and cables and debris and got into my house. Thankfully it was on. Here's what I experienced after signing a contract with stephens roofing and remodeling to replace the shingles on the roof of my house: + top-dollar costs for sub-standard work. + rude, arrogant sales and production staff that are not customer focused. + no-shows and last-minute cancellations for scheduled appointments (three times they failed to show up, even after sending me confirmation email messages). + a rookie, unskilled roofing crew that may lack the skills and tools to do a simple, asphalt shingle roofing job. Apparently, the crew that worked on my house didn't know how to install drip edge (see pictures). + a roofing work crew that may include underage children on the job site (the stephens rep told me that it's common practice for their roofing crews to bring their family, including children, to a roofing job site). I guess no one told them it's illegal to have minors on a roofing job site. + lack of supervision of the roofing work crew by stephens production staff during the job. + after replacing the roof shingles, I found roofing nails in the driveway, in all parts of the yard, and in the air conditioner condenser. When I notified stephens about the naiIs, I got a verbal promise from the office staff manager to send somebody on the next day to sweep the yard for nails, but they called and cancelled at the last minute. Weeks later, a stephens rep came to inspect the roof, saw the nails in the AC condenser but never came back to fix the problems. + broken promises to make repairs for crappy work (just like the promise to come and sweep my yard for nails). + a sales staff that may tell you the bad reviews you see online about them are created purposely by local, competing roofing companies trying to make stephens look bad! Due to their workmanship, I'm sure they don't need fake reviews. + 50/50 chance of winning a court case against them if you choose to sue for shoddy work. You're rolling the dice when you use stephens for roofing work. Because they did a crappy job for me at top dollar, it's likely they do shoddy work for you too (if they actually show up at all). I expect stephens will respond to this review by saying they did everything right. Five months later, after two inspections from stephens followed by several phone calls and emails to their office,they finally sent me a contract promising to fix one drip edge corner and trim all of the shingles that overhang the edge of the roof. On the day of the appointment, they failed to show up or call. The next day somebody showed unannounced but because I wasn't home I have no record of what they did. In short, this company is simply not capable of delivering quality work. Avoid doing business with these clowns. read more

He was polite, informative, and professional. Over a year later, I am selling my home and needed clarification on an item during an inspection. I texted Zane, as he gave me his contact info. Normally not a negative guy, see all of my previous reviews. Stephens roofing finally pushed me to the land of two stars. We had this project booked for 4 months, I get labor/supply issues. The real issue I have is that we had no fewer than 6 crews sent to the house to replace two sheets of metal on our roof. When we called the office we received concern, about 50% of the time. If it wasn't for their supervisors coming to the job we would have just forfeited our deposit and call Any guys roofing. So disappointed for a business so heavily hyped on the radio. Good luck out there. 2 stars given and not one because we are crossing our fingers and think the leak has been eliminated at least. read more

Although it's been 5 years, I want the San Antonio area to hear about how BAD Stephens Roofing was! Getting them to come out was like pulling teeth, even though our homeowners insurance had already come through. That should have been the first Red Flag. Next, when they finally did come out and replace our roof, they did NOT do a good job. Consequently, we're sitting there having breakfast on a rainy day and Rain Starts Falling on our Tabletop!! We called them and once again had to WAIT, although this was clearly an emergency. Turns out they had done such a POOR JOB that Stephens had to sent out men to Re-Roof part of our newly installed roof. To add insult to injury, Stephens Refused to Pay Damage to our kitchen ceiling!! They said to take it up with our insurance. Unfortunately, our Deductible was so high that today, we still have our Kitchen Ceiling Damaged! Moral of the story: DO NOT USE Stephens Roofing in San Antonio, EVEN IF THEY ADVERTISE ON local radio station where Dave Ramsey broadcasts! We have found Stevens roofing to be completely unprofessional. My 83 year old mother signed a contract in August of 2020 and it's almost December 1st of 2020 and we have yet to see any work. Their is almost no communication with them as they rarely return our phone calls and they never respond to our emails and they never call us to let us know why this is taking so long. For them to be taking advantage of senior citizens is very disappointing and I believe illegal but the people working for Stevens don't think so. read more

We had originally gone with a company that we hadn't done our research on, but when we found out they weren't even registered with the city, we quickly looked for who was most recommended and that was STEPHENS roofing. Dwight was the original 'sales' guy that came to the house. There was no pressure. He backed up his words with research and answered all of our questions no matter how silly they may have seemed. He knew we were being very cautious after what had happened with the first company. Dwight answered/retuned every phone call within 5 mins. When the roofers came, they did a great job. Our roof looks great and no leaks! We were especially happy with their patience as we dealt with our house insurance company. I dislike giving negative reviews but there were enough problems with this company that I cannot sit here and not let others know about how they do business. Here is the good and the bad. First the good and this is important. I am very happy about the roof that their "contractors" put on. Of course the company supplies the materials and I felt like they put good quality materials on our home. The contractors were highly experienced, they did a great job- 5 stars. Here's the rub... Everyone in the company itself I dealt with had issues. Now I know why every other ad in KTSA is a Stephens Roofing ad because we sure would never use them again and it appears no one else is either. 1. Our salesman, he came looked at the roof and gave us a good bid ($1500 cheaper than their competitors). But when I tried to reach him (several times to ask questions) he NEVER returned our calls. 2. The contract. The salesman used an electronic device for me to sign with my finger. You could not see the contract prior to signing (and like another review below) $375 was added onto our bill that to this day no one can explain. All they say is that is the contract you signed. So I did eventually get a paper contract from them that was $375 cheaper but somehow I signed a contract that had the $375 with no reasons for it being there. Totally confused. 3. I sent the Office 2 emails regarding this issue, no one ever replied. . When I called, all I got was "that was the contract that I signed" (with my finger on a tiny electronic device so I was not aware of this fee). So in closing I give the company 0 stars and the only reason we're not in some kind of litigation is the roofer they contracted did a great job. I strongly advise you NOT to use this company. My saga/drama began on Nov. 24, 2021 (and while the work is finally completed we're still waiting for them to reimburse us for the damage done to our neighbor's adjacent townhome roof). Today is March 16, 2022. First, they promised to get out the next week to fix damaged siding. Three to four weeks of calling them. They came out and fixed damaged siding and told us "we're done" but only did 1/4 of job. No painting of repaired siding. No caulking of remainder of siding on townhome & painting of it. No communication. They did damaged our neighbor's roof (the only way to get access to our siding). Said they'd fix neighbor's damage. Neighbor said no way. Said they'd consider paying for someone else to repair depending on what they were doing. Called several times and was given various stories and promises about when remaining work would be done. ONLY when I told them we did not want to complete work (and only pay for fix - damage) did we get action. Another six weeks later, work is done. Sent cost of repairs on. Just received invoice with no reimbursement for damage. If you value quality, communication, and delivering on commitments, don't chose this company. read more

I made an appointment last year to have my roof looked at and it took several calls to get them to come out. I was quoted a price for different repairs and gutters. I had to call several times to see what happened to my gutters. I then had repairs made to my home, price changed from contract price due to me notting getting gutters which was higher. I have asked to see what maintenance was done and was showed a couple of pictures and one of the pictures was not even my home. I really do not know what maintenance work was done on my roof for the top dollar price I paid. At this time I am not happy with the customer service from Stephens Roofing. read more

I hired Stevens roofing for a roof repair around my chimney a simple job they charged me $600. I was ok with the price just not the workmanship. They completed the repair in 1-2 hours and did not clean the mess left in my yard. Ok, I can live with that. The roof continued to leak in the same spot into the house. I contacted Stevens again and no one ever showed up. For over a month I have given that company I've 20 calls every morning to come and check the roof because the same exact leak still occurs in the same spot in the house. No answer. So finally I contact another roofing company to come and correctly repair the roof in the same exact spot and now my roof don't leak. Thank you MYAN ROOF REPAIR not Stevens. I warn anyone dealing with Stevens roofing check the work before you pay. Make them wait at least 30 days because once you pay them. They never come back. Stephens replaced my whole roof after it started leaking when we had that big hail storm. Once I scheduled the initial inspection, they told me that it'd take months and months before they could get out here to do the job. I was elated when they called to schedule the repair a few weeks later. I guess they squeezed me in. I wasn't exactly sure what it was going to take to replace the whole roof. But they walked me through it with the initial inspection. The replacement took four days. They didn't let me know how long it was going to take, but that's alright. The roof looks good. It's rained since it's been replaced, and there have been no leaks. I wasn't terribly happy that they removed and discarded two satellite dishes that I specifically asked them to replace once they took them off. We even discussed how they're not liable for tuning the dishes. They're gone. I keep finding nails in my driveway, which worries me. They had one small tarp to catch the debris that falls from the roof. I guess that wasn't enough. The craftsmanship looks pretty good. They caulked any holes, repainted all the pipe vents and stuff. My turbines are gone, and they "upgraded" to ridge vents. Overall, I'm satisfied with my roof. read more

I don't want ANYONE to go through the distress, pain, frustration and disappointment I have experienced. Today, they finally completed my gutter installation and we started this process in August. SAD!! They hire inept, inefficient and RIP off contractors unless you speak up and demand them to do it right!! The first set of contractors (Mike) didn't take pictures of the install and did a crappy job...nails popping out and was a no show when he needed to come back to fix his mess. Second contractor had lousy follow-up even after we re-confirmed the date and time of said appointment. If I had to do it again, I would have used Mackenzie whom I used previously at a previous home. Roof 3 years old...still under warranty..home inspector said flashing was subpar....and causing leaks because they used caulk in areas as a permanent solution when caulk is only temporary..when they came to fix the problem they wouldn't fix the flashing...they just used more caulk...that should be all I have to say. read more

Throughout the whole process I worked with Zane and received big help dealing with the insurance company. The roofing was completed, everything was cleaned up, no mess left behind. BUYER BEWARE. 2 years ago I had Stephens install a metal roof and through the whole nightmare if constant. Mistakes, damage to my home and them ignoring every call and email I am still having leaks in my home. The 4 different subcontractors they sent to fix things all left without touching anything. Even their own subs don't want to fix the mistakes that their I staller did. I am so sick and tired of what they have done at the expense of my families finances and mental stress of the constant letters and references to lien against our home even though I paid almost all the bill except 1600.00 and they still have never fix nor clean the mistakes. Even when they I stalled I paid for a stick and peel ice sheild and they used as they said a substitute foam sheet that is losses and taped on. Was told that roof's were 6-10 weeks out. Been 9 months and they still have not shown up. Called them three months ago and said we were next in line. Called every week sense and still no one shows up. Told them we wanted to cancel contract and they say they will not let us out of it. I would stay away from these people they get you to sign a contract and then they have you. They keep working new jobs instead. Also, every time we call the project manger is gone home for the day. No wonder jobs don't get done when they go home at noon. read more

Lord. What a whirlwind of disappointment. To start, I called them to come out and inspect a hole in the side of our roof, give us a quote. I selected them because the salesperson was lovely. We agreed and signed a contract for them to repair two places on our roof on July 29th. The work was completed on November 30th. 4 months. Long story short is that I had to be in constant communication with them in order to get anything done. I never would have signed a contract, saying that someone would be in touch to schedule our job within 48 hours, if I knew I was going to have two holes in my roof for 4 months. People didn't show up when they said they would, people showed up without giving me any advance notice. Just strange men showing up to my door, MULTIPLE times, even when I requested that I be given a heads up. 3 different contractors came to look, one came and went to go get supplies and never returned. They had the wrong job listed on the call sheet, didn't realize there were two spots. The gutter specialist (a different person than the contractors working on the hole) called to come back and put the gutter back on before I even got a call to schedule the work that the gutter was removed for. I've had some pretty terrible interactions with companies, this beats it all. The front desk people were nice enough, but obviously, my job didn't matter. There was no respect for the customer in terms of actually notifying them of when the work was going to take place, how long it would take to get the work done, etc. Pick really anyone else and I can promise a better experience. read more

I selected Stephens Roofing because 11 years ago they did a great job replacing my roof for a great price. My how the company has changed. When I found a few loose shingles on the ground I called them. The sales guy said it would cost $650 to replace and had me sign the contract. 2 weeks later I called and asked when they were going to do the work. He stated it would be 2 more weeks but not to worry as since it was only ridge tiles it did not really need to be done as far as leaking. I wish he had told me that when he had me sign the contract. A few weeks later we heard something on our roof. We went out and found a man up there. No one had called or knocked on the door first. In 30 minutes, he was gone. No one ever came to the door or came to inspect. That week I mowed the lawn and a shingle on the ground did $75 damage to my lawnmower. Upon further inspection there were nails dropped too. I wrote a note on their bill stating all of this and deducted $75 from the $650 bill for 30 minutes work and paid that. I never got a response to my note; only another bill for $75. Needless to say after the recent rains my roof leaked causing a mess in my living room.
