Great hot dogs - I loved the combination of the slaw and the hot dog sauce. Great service!

My order was taken quickly and it didn't take long for me to get my food. Hot and freshly made, my food was DELISH! The restaurant was pretty clean but my table was a little sticky. I got it all cleaned up though. No worries. This was my first time at this location. It's located in a busy strip mall but I didn't have any issues getting in and out.

I'm always on the look out for a good American Classic Dog, especially with local variations. The description of Sneaky Pete's on Yelp reviews and on their website (it's a popular chain) led me to this venue. Alas! This one did not "cut the mustard" (as the old adage goes). Servers behind the counter were super polite....but a tiny bit inattentive or were poor communicators behind the line. (Was it my Tennessee accent? nah, I doubt it.) Wife, who is a minimalist at heart, ordered her "regular" -- which is usually a plain hot dog on a bun with mustard and onions. No gimmicks, nothing fancy. I ordered "The Original" smoked sausage that came covered with mustard, sautéed onions & kraut plus Sneaky Pete's Sauce. The counter attendant asked, "you want that "all the way?" I blithely answered, "yes, plus a side order of medium fries". Well, Yelpers, it didn't quite happen that way. I got 2 smoked sausages (or dogs?) couldn't tell for sure ... on buns...one with mustard and onion (and lathered with sauce) and the other "all the way" with all the fixins' and Pete's Sneaky sauce. My wife's plain and simple mustard and onion dog came with mustard and onions and slathered in unwanted sauce. Fries came out later HOT and crispy. Likely the best part of our lunch. Dogs and sausage were definitely tender but lacked any smoky "punch." And unfortunately, all were smothered in Pete's sneaky, thin, watery tomato-based sweet stuff. Finally....I had ordered Pepsi ... but was served weak tea instead. Sorry, a lot of hype for little substance....albeit with FAIR prices.

Service was okay, though when I asked what kind of hot dogs they used, they had no clue. I ordered two hot dogs. The total was over eight dollars and honestly, the hot dogs were not good. The chili was weak and the meat topping looked and tasted like it had been out way too long. The hot dogs were also low quality. The ambiance was decent enough. I can't see myself returning.

I had been trying to get my hands on some Sol's since before Easter. Unfortunately, they don't answer their phones. So annoying! The day I visited for lunch, it was packed. I placed my order at the counter and they call out your order when it's ready. This could cause some confusion. What if multiple people ordered the same thing?! I had no issue with my order but there's definitely a more effective way...... My 2 hotdogs (well done) all the way were fantastic!!. Fries were just okay. Skinny and borderline greasy. I still ate them all up! lol Next time I will dine in instead of eating in the car. Highly recommend. You are certain to take in the rich history they have created within the walls of Sol's hotdogs!

I dined in for lunch to get the full experience…read more Tony's is a small, no frills local restaurant that feels very rooted in Birmingham's history. The atmosphere is casual and nostalgic, with regular customers coming in and staff who clearly know many of them by name. It has that classic American hot dog stand feel that reflects a long standing Southern food culture. I ordered a classic hot dog with chili and mustard, fries, and a drink. The food was simple, affordable, and filling. From a public health perspective, this type of restaurant represents traditional comfort food that is high in sodium and processed meats, which we know can contribute to chronic disease when eaten frequently. However, it also plays an important role in community identity and accessibility. The prices are reasonable, making it an option for people looking for a quick, inexpensive meal. Overall, Tony's reflects how cuisine culture is not just about nutrition, but also about tradition, affordability, and local history. It was a solid experience and a good example of how food connects people in a community.

Just a tiny, iconic hole in the wall that exists for one reason: to serve hot dogs that mean business. When you walk in, you already know you're not here for the décor. You're here because you're craving a hot dog and you want it done right. I ordered the Chicago dog, which showed up looking like it had zero intention of fitting politely inside its bun. This thing was juicy, oversized, and required a concerning amount of napkins. The pickles were crisp, the peppers had the right bite, the mustard was exactly what it should be. Everything hit. The only thing missing was that neon green relish that looks radioactive but somehow makes a Chicago dog official. I kind of missed it. A little. Then I got adventurous. Mistake number one. I ordered the Beef Sandwich, what I can only describe as a sloppy joe with a pickle on top. It sounded bold. It tasted... fine. Not terrible. Not memorable. Just sort of there. It's like I betrayed the hot dog gods and they let me know. My colleague went with the burger, which Tony's is apparently campaigning as "best of" material with the local news crowd. He said it was decent and a great value. High praise in burger language. Now the onion rings? Absolute perfection. Crispy, golden, and cooked exactly the way onion rings should be cooked. No notes. If I had stuck strictly to the hot dogs, this would've been an easy five-star situation. But I strayed. That's on me. Four stars. Next time, I'm staying loyal to the dogs.
