I've been to many doctor's offices over the course of my life and never have I had such horrible…read moreexperiences with the Lavon office. First, in order to refill prescriptions, they require you to come in every month, even for simple medications. I've never had to do that. I am use to going once or maybe twice a year for my yearly physical and a checkup (unless bloodwork came back wonky) but never have I been so inconvenienced in my life. I work six to seven days a week and it is extremely hard for me to take off of work that often. So being off of thyroid or migraine medication for any amount of time is not healthy at all. Second, they always, and I mean always, bill for the highest code they are allowed. The few times I've gone I always end up with a huge credit on my account that they roll over and pay for the next visit. That's all well and good, but is it necessary to double my cost each and every visit? Never had that happened before, either. Also, my wife tried it. Once. Complained the entire time. They wouldn't allow her to get in for a sick appointment (almost every general family practice always allows for a few sick appointments a day) so she wasn't able to get in for three days while she had the flu. When she finally got in, they did the same thing to her, billing her the highest code possible. She inquired into why they do that, as she has worked in billing for over a decade and knows the procedures inside and out, and they had absolutely no definitive answer and just gave her the runaround as to why. A few days later we spoke with our insurance company and even the representative stated that they should not be doing that, especially before the appointment has taken place. We are also getting a huge refund from the office because of it. They also sent her medication to the wrong pharmacy. When she went to our pharmacy to pick it up, they told her they didn't have any prescription in her name there. She called the office to see what happened and when she found out, she asked them to transfer it over to the right one. They refused, saying they couldn't cancel a prescription and call it in at a different location. That is false. Again, my wife was an office manager for years and did that exact thing when they would accidentally call in prescriptions to the wrong pharmacy. It's a little bit of work and could take up to 15 minutes to get it corrected. They were just being lazy and incompetent so we had to drive 12 miles out of our way in traffic in order to pick up the medication. The office staff at both of the offices are not very intelligent and have very shady practices. As far as the doctors, Dr. Greg Maul is a great communicative doctor. Very informative and seems like he knows what he's doing and cares about the patients health. Unfortunately, because of the staff, and the inconvenience this office is putting on me, I cannot say anything good (except the doctor himself) nor give a good review. This is my first bad review ever and I'm doing it because I feel like I need to get it out there.

Just dropped this clinic because of the WORST office staff EVER! Dr. Johari is a good doctor, but…read moreshe has the absolutely WORSE office staff I have seen in my 50+ years. Set an appointment for a Dr. visit and a possible x-ray from an injury that "might" be work related. This was something for the doctor to determine as there were several variables. Once the nurse heard the word "JOB", she cancelled my appointment. I never got to finish why it might be job related or might not be, as I was at work with my boss in front of me. Called the next day (as they close before I got off work) and was told the nurse was with a patient and she would call back. I stated, I wanted to reinstate my appointment this afternoon and that it was cancelled wrongly. 3 1/2 hours past with no return call. I called back and cancelled a future appointment for a checkup that was over 2 months away (soonest possible date). Less than 5 minutes later, a manager called me to ask why I was cancelling my appointment. That confirmed my opinion that this office is more worried about counting their $$ than helping patients. Over 3 1/2 hours and still counting for a patients health concerns vs. under 5 minutes after cancelling an appointment. My wife left years ago for the same problems. The manager stated that we don't call patients back until the end of the day and that was policy. My wife found that they just don't call patients back unless it was over billing. No wonder so many are demanding free health care. They must all have visited this clinic! All kidding aside, in my opinion, their action proved to me that patients are here to serve the clinic, not the other way around. $$ over patients = Goodbye! Hope all that bean counting over caring for your patients serve you well. I won't be one of them.

Considering starting a commercial weight loss program?! You know the ones: WW, SOTA, MEDIFAST,…read moreJenny Craig, Nutrisystem, etc ... Do yourself a favor. Instead of spending a considerable fortune on those programs. Make an appointment with Dr. Anamekwe and talk to her about what she teaches. Once you discover that your insurance provider will cover the Obesity Prevention/Weight Loss Counseling Program. You will save yourself much of the money you would've spent on the commercial programs and be left with only your regular insurance copay. Vivify Wellness Center does offer shake mixes & bars but these are simply optional tools to help you on the way to your goal weight! It's not mandatory that you purchase the shakes/bars. They're an option if you want to. Seriously, I almost feel like I'm cheating when I think of the money I'm saving by working with Dr. Anamekwe versus the commercial weight loss programs. Believe me, I've about tried them all. That's exactly what it is too, you work together with Dr Anamekwe as she coaches you to a new way of eating. She'll tell you on your first visit, "Where you are is not your fault! This is what society has taught you and so many others with advertising etc." Vivify Wellness Center has been such a blessing to my life! Better yet, Dr. Anamekwe and the program that she has constructed has been such an answer to the adjustments I needed to make for my overall health. When I started this healthy lifestyle I weighed 444 lbs at 44 yrs of age I could only see one path and that was a downward spiral. I had new physical side effects presenting themselves for the first time of my life and I knew I HAD TO DO SOMETHING. Dr. Anamekwe has opened my eyes to a sustainable lifestyle that is leading to my ultimate health goals. It is a relatively simple mindset that has been shrouded so long by our society's advertising and merchandising of empty calories and SUGAR, SUGAR, SUGAR. I grew up in the 80's so all I knew was sugar, sugar, sugar intake. From surprise toys in sugary cereals to promotion of sugary, sugary sodas. Fast Food 'Happy Meals' and all that. My childhood was littered with false advertisement of a eating lifestyle that will lead to ... I hate to say it but ... death ... Dr. Anamekwe teaches the detriment of insulin resistance. Anyone who has reached obesity has built up insulin resistance. Thanks to Dr. Anamekwe's program I have learned that the first step to successful weight loss is reversing the damage that insulin resistance has caused. Her program introduces a new clean way of eating. I don't call this a diet because it is not. Let's face it too, the moment I think 'diet' I've already all but given up at that point. This is a new way of eating that eliminates unnecessary sugars (including most sugar substitutes except Stevia because it's natural) and most carbs and introduces a more natural way of eating which includes high protein, moderate level of fat, low carb, and low sugar. I know what you may be thinking ... "gosh, I could never do this ... clean eating ... no way" I'm hear to tell you that if I can, you can. As I mentioned, I had already tried all of the commercial weight loss programs out there (WW, Medifast, etc) I also tried Keto and Atkins. I would lose 40 or 50 lbs but then gain it all back and more. Dr. Anamekwe said something during my visit today that really resonated with me. She said, "This program should be the last one you try because it works and you can stay with it." I'm here to tell you it has not been very hard. It just requires determination and following her directives. Before you know it you've developed a new pattern and it becomes your new way. With your new commitment to a cleaner eating lifestyle and moderate physical activity Dr. Anamekwe is more than willing to aid you in your new healthy weight goal. Whether that just entails healthier eating or a prescription to aid in appetite suppressant or the more effective processing of sugars internally. With your initial proven commitment Dr. Anamekwe will introduce aid to help you in your journey. This aid is both instructional and medical intervention. Dr. Anamekwe has offered such great counseling in my regular appointments. This counseling along with my adherence to the program and determination is leading to my success. At first I would think "dang, I need to lose close to 200 lbs! I will never be able to do that!" Well, here I am only 4 months into the program and I've lost over 70 lbs! 100 lbs lost is so within my sights I can practically taste it (no pun intended, haha). After 100 lbs lost I'll be on the downward slope! Now that I'm 4 months into the program this is just the way I eat now. It's not a burden. I don't feel that I'm deprived or anything. Dr. Anamekwe has helped me open my eyes. She is not only my doctor but a companion in this journey to a healthier lifestyle. This program has literally saved my life! Thank you, Dr. Anamekwe, you are the best!
