Unfortunately.. I suffered a complete ACL Tear earlier this year, JAN 2009…read more Fortunately I met with an amazing surgeon, Dr. Andrew Rokito, at the NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases. I first spoke with one of his assistants, Iyvonne, who gave me immediate attention coordinating X-rays, meeting the doctor (on his break in between surgeries), and getting my MRI done. Dr. Rokito recommended a few physical therapy sessions to strengthen my quads before surgery and with a week's wait time the swelling would have lessened enough to operate. Dr. Rokito was the sports doctor for the Mets up until 2004, so when we talked about repairing my ACL I knew he would be capable of doing an excellent repair regardless of graft choice. (I chose the strongest graft, my patella tendon.) SInce ACL Reconstruction is no joke, i can't tell you how comforting it was to know my surgeon is one thee best orthopaedic surgeons and is the head of his dept. I will also say that the staff of lovely nurses at the x-ray facility were very nice, almost to the point that I felt like I was given special treatment. Dr. Rokito is VERY highly respected, I could tell by interacting with other of his colleagues, other surgeons. His staff is also incredible, which was the first sign that i found an amazing doctor, he is surrounded by an outstanding team. I was told Dr. Rokito's hands are like magic. Post surgery, my follow up visit with Dr. ROkito gave me an extra boost of confidence to walk with a regular gait and to protect the scarring from any sun. I felt at ease with the whole surgery and recovery process and absolutely felt that i was in the best care possible. I am approx 5 months post op, 100% confident in a perfectly healed knee (Dr. Rokito said so) and continuing to work on regaining all my muscle strength in pt. If you are unsure about picking a doctor or surgeon, go with the best, reputable Doctor you can trust.

By way of comparison: both an Italian and a Russian doctor were able to diagnose me in just 10 minutes during an online consultation--immediately after reviewing my test results. The diagnosis: axillary nerve compression. This Dr. Rokito is a terrible human being who is indifferent to people's health; perhaps he is simply an incompetent specialist, but I suspect he is merely uninterested in patients with low-cost insurance plans--moreover, I distinctly felt that I was being treated with disdain. I spent two months waiting to see this Rokito, only for the doctor himself to grant me a paltry 10 minutes--and not even provide a diagnosis, essentially stating just one thing: "I cannot, and will not, help you." Doctors like this should burn in hell--or find a profession other than medicine.

After years of unanswered questions and ongoing pain, I feel it's important to share my honest…read moreexperience so others can make their own informed decision. This is my honest review based on my experience. Dr. Jacob initially seemed kind, professional, and reassuring, which is why I trusted him with my last surgery. Unfortunately, my experience left me with serious concerns about transparency, communication, and postoperative care. Before surgery, we discussed removing the mesh as well as addressing painful lipomas, incision-related problems, and abdominal wall defects. Only the mesh was removed, and my symptoms remained essentially unchanged. I was also surprised to find four trocar incisions when I only remember discussing three. The painful lipoma remained in the same location after surgery and was eventually removed by a plastic surgeon. My concerns grew after surgery. I found little or no documentation of several preoperative visits. After I began asking questions and requesting records, the documentation on my patient portal became much more frequent and detailed. I also did not receive an operative report until weeks later, despite repeatedly requesting it. The document I eventually received did not appear to me to be the standard hospital operative report I expected, and I was unable to obtain nursing notes or other documentation that I believed would normally accompany a surgery. I was left without clear answers about what occurred during my procedure. That entire process continues to concern me years later. I went under anesthesia expecting my concerns to be addressed, but I woke up with more questions than answers. I felt violated as a patient, and the experience has stayed with me ever since. During follow-up visits, I often felt I had to pull information out of him rather than receiving clear explanations, leaving me uncertain about what he actually believed or recommended. I was referred to pain management, but I did not feel those referrals addressed the underlying cause of my pain. Some specialists were unable to offer a meaningful treatment plan, while others required substantial out-of-network payments, leaving me feeling like I had nowhere to turn. Years later, I am still seeking treatment for persistent abdominal wall pain. I continue to have the same painful incision and abdominal wall problems that led me to seek surgery in the first place. Based on my personal experience, I cannot recommend this surgeon. This experience has left lasting scars, both physically and emotionally. Honestly, this was the most dishonest encounter I have ever experienced with a doctor.

Camp/immunization forms are normally provided for free at the end of an annual physical exam but the process at Bodhi makes you log onto a website which you have to pay for and then order the forms which you also have to pay for. There are also periodic emails entitled "Happy Holidays" asking for donations. How bout this---use the money I paid unnecessarily for the immunization forms which should be free and donate it to the charity of your choice. Because point, click, print is not something that I should be charged for. The outcome of the physical exam is the whole point of the physical exam! Do doctors realize how much we as patients and parents pay for health care and copayments? With that said, I think I've met with each pediatrician at Bodhi Medical at one point or another and they are all absolutely great and replies are always prompt. Their bedside manner is phenomenal and even the front desk staff is EXCELLENT, hence the 4 star rating and not looking to change pediatricians any time soon.

Dr. Pulcheri didn't minimize any of my concerns, and joked back with me when I used self-deprecating humor. She listened, offered her opinion, asked me to think about some things (like a pap smear, which I haven't in years), and offered advice without judgement. Basically, exactly what you'd want from a doctor: and what is now so ridiculously hard to find. The clincher for me, though, was that she decided to take all my vitals and bloodwork herself, rather than being in her assistant - as she thought that would make more anxious. Gah, I think I'm in love with this place.
