I was expecting bad news, but he informed me that it was something called "frozen shoulder" which is not uncommon for diabetics, and recommended a path of PT rather than surgery. After 8 weeks, my shoulder is showing better range of motion and strength. I stopped in today and Dr. Ansari told me that if I continue to do some of the exercises at home and in the gym, I could likely be pain free in a few months. Dr. Ansari and the staff here are fantastic. Dr. Ansari is professional, knowledgeable, and also takes the time to be sure that everything is explained thoroughly so that there is no confusion. I highly recommend Dr. Ansari if you are having issues. What I expected to be a huge problem and most likely surgery was the answer...ended up being something I could address with minimal effort (outside of PT) and cost. I had my surgery Jan 7th - surgery started at 6:36am and I was discharged at 8:40! Within 3 days I was walking on my own! I had almost no pain, bruising or swelling - and needed NO narcotics! His team at Total Joint Specialists was incredible...super friendly and patient focused! My recovery has gone incredibly well..in fact I was out to lunch 4 days after surgery! Anuj Gupta, MD is an incredibly talented surgeon, a compassionate physician and just an amazing person! If you find yourself in need of a hip or knee replacement, he is, without a doubt, THE BEST!
