Wait time, check in, and the doctor visit were all excellent! Dr. K was by far the best doctor I have seen for my spinal problem.

I was given a shoulder injection that has seemed to help. Ben Roby is an asset to this practice! he is kind, funny and has a great bedside manner! Whwn I talked to my daughter later in the day she asked who I saw and I told her Ben, her response was " Don't you just love him?" he had also seen my granddaughter for ankle problems! Great Job Ben!

After several years of cortisone shots I finally decided to have the joint surgically repaired. Boy, had things ever changed since my first visit several years earlier. First, Dr. Puckett does not regularly see patients anymore. That task has been relegated to a nurse practitioner. That isn't necessarily a bad thing. The bad is one of his nurses, Matt Daniel. All of my dealings with Mr. Daniel were confrontational. He refuses to listen and is more interested in being accusatory than actually helping patients. Case in point . . . My surgery was scheduled for December 8, 2022. On the Monday prior, I had an appointment with my cardiologist (I have a-fib) to get cleared for my surgery. On Tuesday and Wednesday I had my pre-op with the hospital and Specialty Orthopaedics. On Wednesday I was waiting for a phone call from a hospital nurse to give me pre-op instructions when Matt called and told me I had to be back at the cardiologist at 2:00PM - the same time as my phone call. I might mention that I live in Cleveland, GA so every trip I have to make to Gainesville is 50 miles round trip and pretty much takes a whole day. After the second cardiologist appointment I went on home thinking that everything was set for surgery. Then at 5:30pm on Thursday evening - the night before my surgery - Matt called and asked me if I had made my cardiologist appointment that afternoon. When I told him "yes" he advised me that that still did not have surgical authorization from them. I asked what he wanted me to do about that. He said they could not proceed with surgery with the cardiologist's authorization. Finally, out of frustration, I told him that I was going to be at the hospital the following morning at my appointed time and that if they wanted to perform the surgery they could and if they didn't, I would go home. The surgery went ahead as planned. But Dr. Puckett refused to address how I had been treated by his staff. He didn't say ten words to me before the anesthesia took over. The surgery was successful. That's a good thing. But I will never use this practice again because of the way I was treated. Charles Massingale

Dr Patel is not exemplifying a professional business. I waited one hour and a half in the exam room after they called me back. I signed in and got called to the back within 15 minutes. It was not my first visit. They already have been given all of the insurance information on more than one occasion. They decided after an hour and a half to start asking me for copies of my insurance, which was already given to them. Everyone knows that appointments are not made unless you have insurance. Doctors offices in Georgia will collect insurance and co-pay before you even go in the back. The young male medical assistant did my vital signs and took the same medication history. I just sat there for an extremely long time and I'm able to hear everything that the doctor saying in the other rooms. I can even hear his conversation with the medical assistant. Apparently, he told them that he cannot see me until he collects a copayment. Because I have two insurances, I explained to them that I should not have to pay a copayment. After a lot of back-and-forth for about 30 minutes, the medical assistant lady returns and tells me that the doctor has an appointment at 3:30 and could no longer see me and I'll have to reschedule. I have never in all my years of life experienced such nickel and dime money hungry tactics. What he basically did and tried to be slick about it, was refuse treatment based on Money. I have two insurances and that wasn't good enough. The excuse that I heard was that they no longer take my secondary insurance. If these offices would communicate correctly from the very start, I would not even have came to this office. if I had known all this information that they should have told me from the initial scheduling, I would never have booked an appointment in the first place. I don't know who's putting these reviews in here but there's no way that we are talking about the same place on Jesse Jewel Parkway. I'm waiting for a press ganey survey. First of all, I was referred by a third-party company who works with my attorney's office for a slip and fall injury, and they are the ones that referred me to this place. These people have worked with Lawyers before and Workers Compensation cases and other types of cases like slip and fall. They know how it works. They know I'm guaranteed to get money and they know that they're gonna get their little $55. If you choose not to accept my secondary all of a sudden, that's your fault. I have out of network benefits, just like everybody else. I gave my card finally, even though I totally disagree with how they were going about collecting the money and trying to be greedy instead of just billing my insurance the way you're supposed to, and they still went ahead after an hour and a half of waiting and canceled my appointment. I missed work for this. I drove in a heavy rain storm to come here . I live about 30 minutes away. I am so appalled and disgusted with this Office and the doctor and the staff. Very low class place. The purpose of the third-party company is to avoid making any payments out-of-pocket until after my settlement is reached. At that time, any outstanding medical lien will be paid. I can see that whoever works in billing does not carefully read through the files. And also, the office staff are too young and immature and fool around and talk too much at the desk. They don't give eye contact and they don't use manners and do not give eye contact and are very unprofessional. They basically ignore you. I asked for an office manager two times and all I got was a bunch of glares and smirks, and finally somebody handed me a business card That basically contained the number to the front desk. Nobody could even tell me the name of the office manager. I am very appalled by this place and Dr Patel should be ashamed of himself. This is not how you run a business. This is very unprofessional and low class. I've been to many doctors. You're not the only orthopedic office and I've never had somebody do that. If a doctor's office does not get paid from the both insurances, they simply send you a bill. We're talking about $55 co-pay. A co-pay that should not even have been collected because I have two insurances. Go figure. I am not coming back to this practice and I will advise everybody. I know to stay away from Thrive Orthopedics.
