I want to share an incredibly positive experience!! I've been battling hip arthritis for a few years now, but my follow-up in October showed that it was time for a new one! I had my surgery Jan 7th - surgery started at 6:36am and I was discharged at 8:40! Within 3 days I was walking on my own! I had almost no pain, bruising or swelling - and needed NO narcotics! His team at Total Joint Specialists was incredible...super friendly and patient focused! My recovery has gone incredibly well..in fact I was out to lunch 4 days after surgery! Anuj Gupta, MD is an incredibly talented surgeon, a compassionate physician and just an amazing person! If you find yourself in need of a hip or knee replacement, he is, without a doubt, THE BEST! SCAM! Surgery was great, but they overcharged me $2000 and have refused to refund it for over 3 months now. I'm disgusted with these people!

Dr Anuj Gupta has replaced both knees and my left hip over the past 3 years when he was with a different practice. On 11/26/25 he replaced the right hip that was causing me terrible debilitating pain. Post surgery I have no mor hip/joint pain. Just residual post surgery pain while the muscles regenerate, nerves reconnect and soft tissue inflammation goes away. All that takes about a year because that's time the body needs to fully recover from the trauma of surgery. Dr Gupta is a very kind, dedicate and skilled surgeon. He gets a 5 rating from me. As a precaution, Dr Gupta admitted me to the hospital for one night due to other recent medical conditions I went through. The 8th floor care team at NS Cherokee Hospital took excellent care of me post surgery. The only reason I did not give a 5 star rating is because the person on the surgical team that covered the wound, did not get the wound fully covered with the glue tape that is used to secure the wound. It is my understanding the the tape comes in four inch lengths, so precision when covering the wound needs to be precise. The tape is 4 inch long and simply was started at the wrong point causing the tape to come up short at the top of the incision allowing the incision to separate a bit.. Total Hip 2017 when practice just starting was good. Total Hip 2023 when practice has become "churn and burn" terrible. I guess they were taken over by Private Equity and all they care about is money. No in home therapy. The Force app is horribly ineffective. Right before I went under in the operating room the tech was really nasty with me and jerked me around. Overall an absolutely horrible experience. I have terrible issues with the 2nd hip. Do not use this practice - you will be very sorry. Avoid them. read more

Terrible administrative experience that prevented me from seeking treatment. I called to schedule first-time services for assessment of bi-lateral knee issues. Giving my insurance, I was told I needed to get a referral from my primary. No problem. I did so. My primary faxed off the referral as instructed. I called back to confirm receipt and schedule the appointment. I was told the referral was not received, but the clerk asked my to hold as she confirmed a referral was needed. I told her I was informed by her office that it was but she asked to check as many times they are wrong. She came back and said in fact it wasn't needed. I scheduled my appointment with her. A few days later they called me to reschedule for the following week due to Dr. DeCook being out of the office. No problem. Well, the day before my new appointment, I was contacted by them saying the do not have a referral on record and one is needed or the appointment will be cancelled. I explained that I was told by their office I did not need one. They insisted I did. I told them one was faxed by my primary but they confirmed again they did not have it. Luckily my primary also mailed me a copy so I was able to fax it to them. Well, they call me back and said this isn't the type needed. I told them that's what my primary provided and he is well established and I'm sure aware of what "type" of referral is needed. She would not accept it and insisted I needed the correct type. Needless to say I gave up and decided to seek someone else. If this group can't administratively have their act together, I sure don't want them handling my two knee replacements. Dr. DeCook did a hip replacement on me 8 yrs ago and is a fine surgeon. I've had no problems with that hip. I went back to him 2 weeks ago to discuss the other hip and yes, it needs replaced but he refuses to operate if you are a smoker. So long term smokers don't bother to make an appointment unless you're willing and able to quit for 2 months and you will be tested so you can't cheat. I'm very disappointed since I was a smoker back then and still am. I feel this is his way of using his medical skills to force people to quit smoking. read more

I had been having problems with my knee for several months and had been being treated by an orthopedic in Gainesville. The Gainesville dr. had me coming in monthly, do x rays and then say he wanted to watch it for a while. He wasn't sure what I would need to have done. I finally gave up and called Dr. Naylor's office. He seen me immediately, diagnosed my problem on the first visit, scheduled my surgery in 3 weeks. Surgery was great success. He knew on the first visit what I needed and followed through. Great bedside manner, great nursing and office staff. I will highly recommend his office, Also required very little pain med. read more
