I was expecting bad news, but he informed me that it was something called "frozen shoulder" which is not uncommon for diabetics, and recommended a path of PT rather than surgery. After 8 weeks, my shoulder is showing better range of motion and strength. I stopped in today and Dr. Ansari told me that if I continue to do some of the exercises at home and in the gym, I could likely be pain free in a few months. Dr. Ansari and the staff here are fantastic. Dr. Ansari is professional, knowledgeable, and also takes the time to be sure that everything is explained thoroughly so that there is no confusion. I highly recommend Dr. Ansari if you are having issues. What I expected to be a huge problem and most likely surgery was the answer...ended up being something I could address with minimal effort (outside of PT) and cost. I am writing this out of sheer desperation and frustration, hoping to save someone else in chronic…read morepain from the experience I had. I came to Dr. Eli Finkelstein suffering from severe sciatica and lumbar disc degeneration that makes sitting for my two-hour daily work commute agonizing. Over three months of visits, I felt he didn't truly listen. In my experience, he spent every appointment with one foot out the door, rushing to get back to his desk while I actively had to stop him just to ask basic questions. When my MRI results came in, he brushed past them with a brief, dismissive conclusion, without giving me the detailed explanation I needed. The most devastating part was what felt like a complete disregard for my daily suffering. Despite pleading with him about my inability to sit and drive, he bluntly refused to provide a temporary work-from-home note, acting as if he knew my pain levels better than I did. He initially offered nothing beyond basic pain management, and it was only after I explicitly asked that he finally referred me to a surgeon to address the root cause. When dealing with debilitating back issues, you need a doctor who is willing to listen and advocate for your recovery. In my opinion, Dr. Finkelstein is not that doctor. Please, for the sake of your health, consider taking your time and money to someone who genuinely cares.

I had my surgery Jan 7th - surgery started at 6:36am and I was discharged at 8:40! Within 3 days I was walking on my own! I had almost no pain, bruising or swelling - and needed NO narcotics! His team at Total Joint Specialists was incredible...super friendly and patient focused! My recovery has gone incredibly well..in fact I was out to lunch 4 days after surgery! Anuj Gupta, MD is an incredibly talented surgeon, a compassionate physician and just an amazing person! If you find yourself in need of a hip or knee replacement, he is, without a doubt, THE BEST! I would not let any other surgeon operate on me should a need arise in the future!!!
