I am a 55 year old male with multiple, serious health issues. I thank God that I have had some of the best Primary Care Physicians one could ask for since 1989. I can tell you with all sincerity that Dr. Duncan is the cream of the crop. Most Doctors must "get done" with you in 15 minutes, due to HMO's and insurance companies. I have seen it over the years, read about it and know first hand from my best friend who worked for one of my ex-Doctors for 10 years, the pressures on Dr's to move people like cattle. It's simply a numbers game that many have to deal with since HMO's pay a ridiculously low fixed amount for each patient MONTHLY. If a patient comes in once a day, the Dr MUST see them and does not get one penny more for it! DR. DUNCAN IS NOT LIKE THAT!!! She takes time with people and NEVER rushes you. I talked fast to try to get all my info to her and she slowed me down and said "relax, we have time!" I guarantee you, she could make MUCH more money if she did not have her personal ethics and heart towards people. She is a "Doctor of the people" and that is RARELY found today. She took the extra few minutes to assess a very slight anomaly from an EKG that a Cardiologist performed several weeks before. She did an EKG right then and there, saw I was in trouble, called rescue and I was being operated on that evening. I was half way to a heart attack and yes, her extra care that so many don't take today may have truly meant life or death for me. Less and less Doctors are going into Primary Care due to the stress, office and operational costs (no pun intended), malpractice insurance costs, lower profits, etc. That is why there is a massive shortage of PCP's in the U.S. People from overseas are being recruited in droves, as well as a massive increase in PA"s and Registered Nurse Practitioners performing services only Doctor's once did. Why? The Insurance Companies once again making money while they pay less to PCP's. Thus, PA's and RNP's are now the solution due to their lower salaries. They work under the license of a Doctor and are doing the work of a Doctor, yet have much less training. PA's and RNP's may be wonderful people and some are super Practitioners, but in the New America, health care will be seriously compromised by less educated and less experienced people than a fully trained Doctor. I am saying all of this in favor of Dr. Duncan so people understand how fortunate I feel to have her as my PCP. Dr. Duncan is already "one of the great ones"" and that is the kind of Doctor everyone needs. I am just a guy who found a gem of a Doctor and that is not easy with having Medicare as insurance. With all due respect to the few people that rated Dr. Duncan with one star, it is regrettable that you had MINOR inconveniences compared to what you will face in the future as health care loses caring, knowlegable and experienced Dr's like Dr. Duncan. Yes, as one reviwer cited, I too have gotten forwarded to the answering machine, but if that is the worst that could happen in comparison to not having a truly great Doctor like Dr. Duncan. You can find another Doctor whose office always answers the phone, but you probably won't find one like Dr. D. I am having my wife switch to Dr. D because she is #1 awesome, and #2 a GYN, in addition to a Family Doctor. I'm sorry if I opine and I know people have the absolute right to express their opinion and rate people, but the two people in my opinion who rated Dr. D and her office with one star spoke quite dramatically. The wording used by the two "one star" people do not describe Dr. D at all. One person used terminology such as "appalling", referring to the staff and that they do "not know they are dealing with health and human beings". The other person stated they were "a patient of Dr. Duncan Garcia for many years feeling", yet "horrified" and went "off to urgent care where I might actually get some real medical care until I find a new doctor". I am sorry for the experience the two people stated they had, but I have wriiten mine with no ulterior motives other than speaking the truth of my experience. The great majority of Doctors are NOT like Dr. Duncan and I feel so fortunate, no, I feel blessed to have her. John S read more
