Because I trusted their word, I lost the window to just bite the bullet and make the hour drive to and from family. I had to book a second hotel out of pocket, stretching my budget in a way that was genuinely costly. All because a staff member couldn't simply say "I don't know" instead of giving me false assurances to get off the phone. This isn't a miscommunication. It's a lack of integrity. They serve many good wines, both very local and from other California regions. Some of the interesting local ones include a few varietals from the local Allan Hancock community college's viniculture program. The Allan Hancock ($9/glass) 2023 Pinot Noir was pretty impressive! Fruity and young. I also very much enjoyed the Kleemeier (also Santa Barbara County) 2024 Pinot Noir, which belied its young age in the best way ($12/ glass). The service was friendly, and my wife and I shared a traditional and custom flight. We thought that the wines were decent, some better suited to our palates than others, but well-made, nonetheless. We were fortunate to meet and speak with the owner who happened to be bringing in supplies and got a little more detail on the wines, than we did from our "winerista". He also mentioned that his niece opened a winery in Los Olivos (Story of Soil), which focused on wine styles a little out of our wheelhouse, but we thought we'd give that a try as well, and it turned out to be a fantastic recommendation.
