    Shrimp cocktail with every meal

Today was our first time here, and from start to finish, everything was exceptional. The host and servers provided outstanding customer service and made us feel truly welcomed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It did not feel crowded whatsoever, we were seated in a well [[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]lit area. The food was absolutely amazing! I had the tri-tip, and my husband ordered the boneless ribeye , both were cooked perfectly and full of flavor. And definitely get the double baked potato... you will not regret it! The dessert menu looked incredible, but we simply didn't leave enough room to try anything this time. We will definitely be returning. An amazing experience with top-notch service!

What a great night! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Far Western had several factors that stood out for us (as Central Coast locals) among the other great Central Coast steakhouses: service, the shrimp cocktail, the soup and the salad course, and the desserts -- along with great steaks and a fun environment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Let's get into it! We reserved on Open Table and requested Yasha's section because she was mentioned in so many glowing reviews. She is also a manager and has worked at Far Western (including the OG location in Guadalupe) for 15 years. She was an ace server but also showed incredible ownership, making great recommendations and spending some time telling us about the menu and the restaurant - even though it was a busy Friday night. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We started with cocktails. Although we had ours at the table, their bar is gorgeous and I recommend coming early for a drink at the bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You also have the option of dining at the bar, and there was room for walk-ins a little before 6:00 on this particular Friday. We ordered a Paper Plane ($16) and an Elijah Craig Old Fashioned ($16) with cardamom bitters - that one was my favorite. Their cocktail program really stood out with classic steakhouse cocktails with top shelf ingredients and skilled bartending. In awesome Central Coast steakhouse fashion, your entree comes with a relish tray, bay shrimp cocktail (excellent spicy, earthy cocktail sauce), a choice of soup or house salad, pressed garlic bread, a choice of starch (with a few upgrade options), salsa, plus pinquito beans. The clam chowder (available Fridays and Saturdays) was a star in a county with so many good clam chowders. It was bacon-y and not too thick- perfect for our palates. The house salad was one of the best house salads I've ever had - the freshest mix of crispy lettuces (in perfect bite-sized pieces), grape tomatoes, carrots, a slice of watermelon radish (classy!), ordered with gorgeous blue cheese dressing (with crumbles on top) - with or without croutons. This was a big salad you'd be happy with if you'd ordered it à la carte. See photo! We ordered the ribeye (they call it the Bullseye Steak, $69) and the 14 oz sirloin ($60); both were terrific. All the steaks are seasoned with a mix they've bottled and is pretty widely available in area grocery stores called Suzy Qs. It was a great seasoning mix and not too salty. My sirloin (14 oz) came out closer to medium than medium rare. I sent it back and the next one came out perfect. It was also handled with grace. We had a second round of cocktails with dinner - another Elijah Craig old fashioned with the cardamom bitters and a Black Manhattan ($16) - terrific! Our waters were refilled and empty plates cleared quickly by professional and friendly bussers. For dessert we shared a Berry Crostada (house made) with vanilla ice cream. Outstanding! Lovely, light and flaky pastry. This is one of those desserts to have when you want to try something but you're pretty full. Of course we ate the whole thing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]After dinner we walked around to look at the photos on the wall and soak up the history of the Central Coast ranches.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] BTW, plenty of street parking in quiet downtown Orcutt. This might be going to the top of the list for our steakhouse favorites! A real experience.

My last visit to the far Western was at its old location in Guadalupe, finally decided to come here and try it out. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was such a pleasant surprise to see the back of the old bar in the new location, they did such a good job on the ambience of this restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service in the bar area that we had was so wonderful from the bartender Andrea, there was a new busser and she was doing such an incredible job treating him and still being attentive to all of her customers. The food was delicious and the dessert was even better, we had the chicken split and the burger both were perfectly cooked. We are excited to come back and try this place again soon!

The service was amazing. The food was divine. From the appetizers to the desserts, all were perfection. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice clean restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had a reservation so there was no wait, but I am sure if you don't have a reservation you are going to have to wait, because people seems to love this place. For appetizer we had the Mac N' Cheese Relleno. For dinner I chose the Filet Mignon and my husband had the Fish. For dessert we had Cellebaut Chocolate Dome Cake and the Cheesecake. We will be back when in the area for sure

Food: 3. What happened? I came here about a year ago and tried their Mac N' Cheese Relleno and thought it was amazing. So good that I told lots of people. My out of town group stopped by yesterday (Sunday) around 5:45 pm. Place was busy. We were promptly seated for our reservation. On our table was the usual relish tray. I ordered their Mac N' Cheese Relleno ($16) and Oak Grilled Steak Skewers ($20). Other orders included the baby back ribs, Bullseye steak, and filet mignon. Food came out timely and at the right temperature. The Mac N' Cheese Relleno was a major disappointment. I told people that it was real cheesy and so decadent. This order had very little cheese flavor. The steak skewers were cooked to the requested doneness but was just okay. Steak was not particularly tender or flavorful. Beans when added with their salsa was very good. Service was very good. Service: 4.5 [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance: 4[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Value: 3

[[HIGHLIGHT]]We loved the rustic and romantic ambiance of the Far Western Tavern.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The filet minon and bbq chicken dishes were delicious! We had a bit of a wait though it was Valentine's Day so I can't complain. This is a great spot if you haven't tried it yet.

I'd been wanting to try Far Western for a while but it's a bit of a trek from SLO; however, I know now it's entirely worth it! Service was immaculate, the inside and outside tables are both beautiful and well maintained while clearly being preserved for decades, and the bathrooms were really nice and clean! My boyfriend got the special of the day which was the filet and shrimp and it was PHENOMENAL. My ribeye (the "world famous bullseye") was also perfectly cooked and so flavorful, and the fries were mouthwatering. I was hoping not to be disappointed and can now definitely say this place lives up to the hype! And if the food isn't enough to convince you to give it a try for whatever reason, the cocktails were amazing as well!!

Are at the bar on a Friday night and the experience was great! The clam chowder was delicious and hot! Tammy was our server and was so sweet and attentive. The Bullseye was fantastic! I also would highly recommend the fries as they cut them fresh. Honestly, they've really been putting effort in and it was so tasty this visit. I enjoyed the ambiance of the bar and would prefer to sit there over the dinning room as it felt more lively.

Great New York steak! Our server was lovely, the artichoke dip was too spicy for us to finish but we realized after that it had jalapeños.

That misleading listing is what caused me to book in the first place. When I discovered the error, I called to cancel. I asked three times whether a refund would be approved. Three times I was told yes, the manager would take care of it the next day. Don't worry, it's fine. So I trusted them. The next morning: denied. No refund. No explanation. No accountability. Because I trusted their word, I lost the window to just bite the bullet and make the hour drive to and from family. I had to book a second hotel out of pocket, stretching my budget in a way that was genuinely costly. All because a staff member couldn't simply say "I don't know" instead of giving me false assurances to get off the phone. This isn't a miscommunication. It's a lack of integrity. Do not rely on anything you're told verbally here and think twice before booking at all.

The building is from 1917 and you can feel it everywhere.... dark wood, stained glass, a ship model in a glass case, an old house telephone booth, a hand-painted figurehead hanging from the ceiling holding lanterns. It's not trying to be charming, it just is. The tri-tip sliders and pretzel bites were so good I forgot to take a picture before they were gone (especiallythe tri tip sliders). Happy hour pricing made the whole thing even better. Seriously, if you're anywhere near Santa Maria, make the drive. I'll definitely be back and I'm a little annoyed it took me this long to find it! Tim the bartender was also outstanding. Friendly, warm and informative and of course a great bartender.

She was busy with a crowd of regulars but you'd never know it from her positive and super pro attitude with me. She made me an excellent espresso martini ($9 happy hour price) and brought it over to me at my seat. The room itself was expanded some years ago but the original design was by a very famous designer of the 1940s who also worked on Hearst Castle and the Hollywood Roosevelt hotel. You can guess where the original footprint was expanded as there are several historic photos of the room hanging on the walls. If you sit near the fireplace or in one of the old booths, you can still imagine you're imbibing in the 1940s pub-like tavern of 80+ years ago. The food menu looks incredible and the happy hour specials extend to food as well. The nighttime bartender wasn't quite as charming but he was friendly enough when I returned later for an after dinner Fernet Branca ($16.00 for a non-happy hour double). You can take your drink to your room if you prefer. I would like to return for another happy hour and try the food.
