Apple Turnover (one bite in...)
Bobb S.

I finally had a chance to stop in on a Thursday morning. One thing that surprised me was the cute dining room and even cuter (and spacious) outdoor patio. I had no idea. Since I live close by so I took my food to go but could definitely see myself enjoying a sweet treat on the patio some sunny morning. I tried a few items and all were excellent. The breakfast sandwich (Egg and Cheese with optional bacon) was nestled between their hallmark cheese bread and substantial. It was a great bite. Next up was the cheese danish. Perfect cheese filling. Not too sweet. It went well with coffee. Finally, the apple turnover I ate later in the afternoon also delivered. Like the sandwich, it was substantial and like the danish, not too sweet. I definitely will be back to try other goodies.

Bread, rolls, sandwiches, empanadas! Stellas has a great location for all these items. They also have drinks and a nice patio area to enjoy your favorite bready items. Friendly staff.

Stella's is a staple in my farmer's market stops so I had to check out the location on regent! The sandwich on the spicy cheese bread was fantastic. The cinnamon roll was solid, wish it was warmed up. Friendly, quick service and cute seating area. Can't wait to come back!

Great find from the Dane County Farmers Market! I got recommended to try the hot and spicy cheese loaf by a friend, and it didn't disappoint! Definitely get the whole loaf instead of the mini loafs, since the whole loafs are still warm. The bread was fluffy and cheesy, though not very spicy. The farmers market goes around the entire Capitol building and has a variety of cute local businesses. The stall at the farmers market was pretty busy, but the staff was very helpful and gave us recommendations!

Stella's is a madison farmers marker institution that now has a cafe storefront. Limited indoor seating, about 5 tables, but it looks like come summer their outdoor seating will be pretty nice. They serve coffee, sandos, baked goods, and beer (duh). Fine spot to take your parents if theyre visiting you @ UW.

Where's the Cheese? Stopped by the new Stella's Bakery location to pick up their famous hot and spicy cheesy bread. While the bread was good it was not the same with only a small amount of cheese in the loft.

we went to the farmers market on saturday and got the famous hot and spicy bread!! it has melty cheese and red pepper flakes on top~ it was served steaming and was super soft and peelable. a really yummy snack. top 2 eats from my trip to madison! I might be thinking abt this bread for a while the lady at the booth was very nice and helpful when we asked her questions. the line to get the bread was also moving quickly~ it was also a somewhat chaotic environment bc of the market but everything was pretty organized regardless.

I didn't go to the brick and mortar location but had to get this bread at the Dane County Farmers Market. Absolutely incredible!

Have been getting pastries from the farmers market for a long time. They just opened up an eatery in a new location with an outdoor patio and cute indoor place to eat also. The only problem is the parking.

In Dane County Farmer's market they had very long line. So tried their hot and spicy cheese bread. It was really good. Bread has cheese and chilli flakes embedded in it. $13 was the price for a piece.

I visited Batch from out of town recently, and after trying their pastries concurred that I could…read moreabsolutely move to Madison with this kind of bakery around. It's definitely a storefront with no seating, but if you don't mind standing there's an area where you could eat at a counter. I arrived at 9am on a Sunday and by the time I finished ordering, a line had formed out the door. I would definitely recommend getting here early; however, it's also the kind of place where you can't go wrong with anything you order. After a lot of waffling, I ordered the lemon currant scone, peach muffin, and ham and Gruyère bun. The scone was super buttery with a crunchy exterior and soft interior, with the most lovely glaze and lemon zest throughout. It definitely screamed summer. The peach muffin was super light and airy, and not at all too sweet. The crunchy cinnamon topping was absolute perfection and brought the perfect texture contrast. I really enjoyed the bun, which was like a mini sourdough loaf. I do think there could have been a bit more ham, but the caramelized onions throughout made sure that every bite was super flavorful. Next time I'm in town, you better believe Batch will be my first stop!

Leave the baking to BATCH BAKEHOUSE. Nobody wants to keep their eyes closed when they're eatin.

Madison sourdough made it to our list of places to visit by virtue of their morning buns, which I…read moreread about during my research for what to eat in the area. We stopped off on a Sunday morning before leaving Madison to head to the Dells. We were able to snag a parking spot on the street pretty much right out front of the place but I did notice that there seem to be a parking lot next-door. we were intimidated by the queue that had formed and was literally no exaggeration, "out the door". I wouldn't say that it moved quickly per se, but quick enough. The time spent on the queue is good for catching up on emails, some self reflection, or perusing the menus that they have stacked on the counter. We finally made it to the register. I ordered a ginger pistachio Matcha (iced of course, in this heat) and GF a banana something latte. The morning bun was fantastic. It almost reminds me of a cruffin. Maybe lighter? It wasn't overwhelming, it was flaky and delicate with a muffin-esque but lighter booty. A delightful breakfast snack. The matcha was out of this world. Such a unique and delicious flavor. It lasted two seconds. GF enjoyed her latte. It wasn't as sweet as I would have liked but for her, someone who doesn't like sweet coffee beverages, it was perfect. I can see why this place is so popular.

I'm always on the hunt for a good bakery and couldn't pass up the chance to visit Madison…read moreSourdough! From creative baked goods to yummy breakfast plates, this is a great stop if you're craving some comfort food or a sweet treat. The interior was cute with a casual vibe- we saw plenty of guests catching up with friends over brunch and others getting some solo work done over coffee. You order at the front, and although it was very busy, things moved pretty quickly. We tried the biscuit breakfast sandwich and hot coffee. The bacon and eggs on the sandwich were perfectly cooked, and I loved that it came with jam to balance out the savory flavors and rich cheddar. The biscuit itself was tasty but dry- I think a generous pat of butter and a bit more jam would have done the trick. It came with a tangy arugula salad that lightened up the meal nicely. The coffee was on the watery side but had a good flavor. I do wish we'd picked up some pastries or bread for the road, as I tried some of their sourdough on a sandwich at another local restaurant and it was absolutely delicious. Overall, we had a good experience and I would definitely stop by to try more of the menu!
