Who knew moving to South Carolina would mean I'd get to visit Paris so soon? I had such a wonderful experience with Paris at Stella Nova's Mount Pleasant location. I have naturally wavy/curly hair that had become quite overgrown, and finding someone who truly understands how to work with its natural texture is so important. Paris is a curly hair specialist, and it showed! She gave me a fantastic cut and styled it to perfection that day, but the real test is how your hair behaves once you get home--and mine has been incredibly easy to work with. She also gave me great tips for maintaining frizz-free, bouncy curls on my own. Paris was warm, professional, knowledgeable, and really listened to what I wanted. I absolutely love my haircut and will definitely be back. Thank you, Paris! Highly recommend! read more

I was just grocery shopping and 2 women separately stopped me and asked " who does your hair"? "Carly @ Stella Nova in West Ashley". I came in for a touch up color and cut, and she absolutely exceeded my expectations. Carly is professional, knowledgeable, and truly cares about giving you the best look. Highly recommend! read more

The owner contacted me via Yelp. He offered to refund my money but I did not feel that was appropriate since they spent time and product on me. I agreed to go in and correct my hair. Everyone was very nice. I no longer look white/grey/blonde. Which is a VERY good thing. It is much better than it was for my skintone. read more

Great experience! Stella did a wonderful job. I came in a mess not having a cut in almost a year and left with beautiful shine! Things I loved: she was ready at the start of my appointment and I was not waiting for her to finish with someone else, nor did she make me feel rushed to hurry to the next client. The shampoo was so relaxing and calming. She listened to what I wanted cut and style wise, and made suggestions. I love that she understands curly hair as someone who has curly hair herself. I didn't feel pressured to buy products but I did love that the suggestions based on what I described my hair problems and ended up asking about the cream she used. Very enjoyable! read more

Stacey the whole experience was great. Immediately, I'm greeted by all the employees I encounter- checked in quickly and easily. I'm getting shampooed within 4 minutes of walking in the door. Stacey carried a delightful, light hearted conversation with ease. She has a great read on people. I felt like my satisfaction was her main priority. She was attentive and beautifully interpreted my words into a great haircut. Stacey has my business and earned a repeat customer. read more

Went in for purple hair and it ended up a very unappealing blue. Mentioned it was blue and told it was just the lighting and nothing they could do about it. Honestly a massive waste of over $300. read more

I've only been in the area for a month. I had no clue where to go to get my much neglected hair ready for the holidays. I didn't think I'd get into anywhere this close to Christmas. Thanks to Yelp, I found Stella Nova. They were able to fit me in fairly quickly. (My work scheduled interfered.) There, I found this lovely, talented young lady, Vitia. She colored, highlighted, low lighted, cut and styled my hair. It's beautiful. Vitia was very professional and a joy to talk with. She is the whole package. The facility is very comfortable. Every staff member was friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Stella Nova and my new hairdresser, Vitia !!!!! read more

I went here for a haircut 2 months ago. They had me wait outside in a chair while 2 other customers just went inside. One woman came out to see what I needed, she told me to wait outside and fill out a form. I waited about 5 min and someone came out to get me. She was the person cutting my hair, forgot her name, but I do remember she had an angry expression on her face the entire time from start to finish. At one point, she retorted at me "Here" as she was holding up the mirror. Not friendly, no chit chat, very curt and robotic I guess you can just walk inside if you are of a certain persuasion and if not , you are waiting outside I will NOT go back here again. It's a joke. Unless you are of certain disposition and a "regular" customer don't expect to get treated right But you know I'm such a nice person that I even gave her $10 tip. read more

I love this place! Vitian is wonderful! So nice and did a great job. Looking forward to my next visit.

Went to the W Ashley Salon for appointment with Xaixia Chen. Told her I specifically wanted my hair long enough to pull up into a pony or twist up for formal. I am 72 and cannot blow dry my own hair. I also wanted some highlights. Color is fine, but my hair is less than 1/2" long at the nape of my neck, and once she got her shears going, it is chin length in front. I kept telling her not too short please but ended up with a trendy "shag" do. My hair is baby fine and I told her cannot hold curl and that was why I like a longer hair I can pull up in SC summers as it falls flat and limp. So now I have clumps of fine hair I cannot work with that will take several years to grow out. All I want to do is cry. Tara B read more

I was very nervous coming here at first but Stella was so sweet and thorough with my hair that I just knew I was going to have a positive experience! The last time I went there, I got a cut and she suggested to add in gloss. I loved how she wasn't pushy with the suggestion and was really kind in explaining the benefits unlike some who will say mean things about your hair so that you will try additional services! Definitely recommend Stella & Stella Nova! read more

The team contacted me and made my horrible experience better. They got one of the top stylists to recut my hair for me and she even said it wasn't great. They did take care of everything for me and got my hair looking much better but I didn't want to lose length and had to forfeit that in order to get it to not look like I gave a preschooler scissors. Still not please just because this could have been avoided but thank you for reaching out and trying to make it right. read more

LOVE this salon! I have been going here for a few years and would absolutely recommend going. I have gotten my hair cut by Megan and Stephanie and would highly recommend either of them. It is a very nice salon, with a comfortable waiting area, they sell different products, and always offer you a beverage. The prices are pretty reasonable and the stylist have different levels with prices associated to them. I love that I can book online to save time! You can pick the service you want and then select the staff member you would like. The great part about booking online is you can see how much each staff person charges. I would recommend once you book online to call them to make sure it was received. A few times I have had issues with the online booking feature not being correct on their end. read more

I went to Stella Nova for a simple brow wax and had a terrible experience. I have had my eye brows professionally waxed for over five years. I've never been so horrified. First I went to check in and was told to wait in the spa area. I waited in the spa area for about 15 min til my brow lady met me. She showed me to her service room and had me lie on a very uncomfortable bed. There was no calming music and the lights stayed on. Every other time I've gotten my brows waxed at other places the room is relaxing and the massage table comfy. The lady started on my brows by trimming them- the only thing she did right. After the trim she told me how she hated when professionals wax all your eye brows off. I agreed and told her I wanted my brows thicker. She did just the opposite. My brows were so thin when she was done they looked terrible. Then they are nowhere near even. One was muddy thicker at the start of the eye brow (near the nose) than the other. She then told me I could just pencil them in when I get home. I'm sorry but when I go to get my brows waxed I've never had to go in to pencil them afterwards. I then explained to her that they looked uneven. She argued with me that the brow I thought was thinner (I even measured for her) was actually thicker. She then told me eye brows don't grow out at the same time so there was no point in trying to make them even. What a trip. I paid and walked out to my car, disgruntled. The receipt I was given said no refunds on it which I thought was a little harsh. I then looked in the car mirror and realized, they were definitely still uneven. I went back in and asked the lady to make them more even. She then brought in a coworker for a second opinion. The coworker agreed with my lady and refused to make my brows even. After about 15 min of arguing with these two, I told them I would never be back to Stella Nova because of their terrible customer service. That didn't even seem to phase them but they finally gave in and offered me a refund. I went back up to the counter where the manager rudely glared at me as the lady explained I needed a refund. She refunded my credit card and didn't even apologize for the terrible service. Whatever salon you try avoid Stella Nova in West Ashley near the Citadel mall at all costs. read more

Stella Nova is one of the best salons in Charleston. With m,ultiple locations you have no excuse to go anywhere else. Their sylists are beyond knowledgable and give great cuts and style tips. I recently had my hair cut by a Bumble & Bumble educator who was in town teaching a class to the staff. He was amazing and I let him chop around 10 inces of hair off! Whoa! The salon is always very clean and the staff are super friendly. They have a variety of products and the cutest little shop are next to the front desk. read more

Such a beautiful place and very beautiful people! Everyone so professional and will make sure that you will leave the salon happy!

I honestly don't like to leave reviews but I will not be returning to this establishment. They have snobby attitudes and impatient customer "service". The girl who did my hair either didn't listen or didn't understand but it wasn't what I wanted at all...I already made an appt to get it fixed with another salon. Save yourselves some money and avoid this over priced bougie chain salon wannabe and find someone you can trust with your hair. And I was debating getting my nails done while I was there but I chose against it. Because of my hair fiasco obviously and because their nail "area" looked like a feminine lawyers office. I don't understand how they are able to do nails there? I'm assuming they'll turn out as good as their hair cuts. read more

Moved here recently from New Jersey. Have gone three times and used three different stylists. All were good. I asked for someone with experience as I am older. Cut and colors were good. I did not get an explanation of stylist experience and relationship to price. I also have never been charged separately for a wash and style. Last appointment I had a single process, partial highlights and blow dry. I was very surprised to pay $260 for these services. Although I am not dissatisfied with the stylists, I will not go back because of the price and lack of information shared about the separate costs and cost by stylist type. read more

I'm soooo happy I found this place! I'm from out of town and was in desperate need of a full color and brow wax. Abigail was extremely sweet, professional and did a beautiful job on my color! They even squeezed me in for a brow wax while my color was setting. The woman was fantastic! I'm sorry that I can't remember her name. But my brows look fabulous! Thank you for such a wonderful experience. read more

So happy with my new stylist, Ciera Wages, at Stella Nova! I moved here from FL 2 weeks before Covid shut everything down. Then out of caution with the virus, I waited until September to begin the search for a new hair stylist. Out of sheer prayer and good fortune I found Stella Nova, West Ashley. I made an appointment with Ciera and received a great hair cut. She talked about what I wanted and really listened to my answers. She asked questions throughout the cut to make sure she was giving me what I had asked for. She genuinely wants to work with her clients to get the look they want. I've now had a 2nd cut and I continue to be thrilled with the cut, the service and the salon. Stella Nova has made modifications throughout the salon that made me feel safe. read more

I wanted to have and updo for a wedding that I was attending over Easter weekend. I have very fine and thin hair and shorter length. My hairdresser at home did a practice updo 3 weeks before the date of the wedding and it looked great. I called several salons in West Ashley and found Stella Nova, I called and they had availability. I told the salon that I had very fine and thin hair and it was shorter. I sent them pictures of the updo that my hairdresser had done and asked if they had the ability to do fine hair. I got a call back saying that Haixiq could do my hair. When I went for my appointment, it took her 10 minutes looking for products to use. I had brought some mini Bobbie pins and small hair pins with me but she had no products that were meant fur my hair type which became obvious once she applied it to my hair, it was like hard glue. It was so bad she couldn't hardly separate pieces to curl and the few she pulled apart and used a curling iron on, literally smoked, I told her I was concerned and she told me don't worry it's got thermal protection. I could hardly wait to get out of there. When my husband picked me up , he said OMG what happened??? So I went back to the hotel and and tried to wash it all out. It took me over an hour just to get my hair unglued. I hadn't written a review until now because I didn't know how much damage was cause to my hair at Villa Nova. Not until I went to see my hairdresser and she told me I have a lot of damage on the back crown of my head. I told her what happened at Villa Nova and she believes my hair was really damaged from what Haixiq did. read more

I adore all the people who have cut my hair here throughout the years but recently I was lucky enough to meet Austin at the East Bay location. I have to give Ciera 5stars and I would give many more if given the option. Ciera has cut, styled and colored my hair. I have a very hard time in Charleston finding someone to trust with color or who is this confident and who can prove her own hair looks so fabulous bc she is THAT fabulous and knowledgeable!
