I went here for a haircut 2 months ago. They had me wait outside in a chair while 2 other customers just went inside. One woman came out to see what I needed, she told me to wait outside and fill out a form. I waited about 5 min and someone came out to get me. She was the person cutting my hair, forgot her name, but I do remember she had an angry expression on her face the entire time from start to finish. At one point, she retorted at me "Here" as she was holding up the mirror. Not friendly, no chit chat, very curt and robotic I guess you can just walk inside if you are of a certain persuasion and if not , you are waiting outside I will NOT go back here again. It's a joke. Went to the W Ashley Salon for appointment with Xaixia Chen. Told her I specifically wanted my hair long enough to pull up into a pony or twist up for formal. I am 72 and cannot blow dry my own hair. I also wanted some highlights. Color is fine, but my hair is less than 1/2" long at the nape of my neck, and once she got her shears going, it is chin length in front. I kept telling her not too short please but ended up with a trendy "shag" do. My hair is baby fine and I told her cannot hold curl and that was why I like a longer hair I can pull up in SC summers as it falls flat and limp. The team contacted me and made my horrible experience better. They got one of the top stylists to recut my hair for me and she even said it wasn't great. They did take care of everything for me and got my hair looking much better but I didn't want to lose length and had to forfeit that in order to get it to not look like I gave a preschooler scissors. LOVE this salon! I have been going here for a few years and would absolutely recommend going. I have gotten my hair cut by Megan and Stephanie and would highly recommend either of them. It is a very nice salon, with a comfortable waiting area, they sell different products, and always offer you a beverage. The prices are pretty reasonable and the stylist have different levels with prices associated to them. I love that I can book online to save time! You can pick the service you want and then select the staff member you would like. The great part about booking online is you can see how much each staff person charges. I would recommend once you book online to call them to make sure it was received. A few times I have had issues with the online booking feature not being correct on their end. read more

I honestly don't like to leave reviews but I will not be returning to this establishment. They have snobby attitudes and impatient customer "service". The girl who did my hair either didn't listen or didn't understand but it wasn't what I wanted at all...I already made an appt to get it fixed with another salon. Save yourselves some money and avoid this over priced bougie chain salon wannabe and find someone you can trust with your hair. And I was debating getting my nails done while I was there but I chose against it. Because of my hair fiasco obviously and because their nail "area" looked like a feminine lawyers office. I went to Stella Nova for a simple brow wax and had a terrible experience. I have had my eye brows professionally waxed for over five years. I've never been so horrified. First I went to check in and was told to wait in the spa area. I waited in the spa area for about 15 min til my brow lady met me. She showed me to her service room and had me lie on a very uncomfortable bed. There was no calming music and the lights stayed on. Every other time I've gotten my brows waxed at other places the room is relaxing and the massage table comfy. The lady started on my brows by trimming them- the only thing she did right. After the trim she told me how she hated when professionals wax all your eye brows off. I agreed and told her I wanted my brows thicker. She did just the opposite. My brows were so thin when she was done they looked terrible. Then they are nowhere near even. One was muddy thicker at the start of the eye brow (near the nose) than the other. She then told me I could just pencil them in when I get home. I'm sorry but when I go to get my brows waxed I've never had to go in to pencil them afterwards. I then explained to her that they looked uneven. She argued with me that the brow I thought was thinner (I even measured for her) was actually thicker. She then told me eye brows don't grow out at the same time so there was no point in trying to make them even.What a trip. I paid and walked out to my car, disgruntled. The receipt I was given said no refunds on it which I thought was a little harsh. I then looked in the car mirror and realized, they were definitely still uneven. I went back in and asked the lady to make them more even. She then brought in a coworker for a second opinion. The coworker agreed with my lady and refused to make my brows even. After about 15 min of arguing with these two, I told them I would never be back to Stella Nova because of their terrible customer service. That didn't even seem to phase them but they finally gave in and offered me a refund. I went back up to the counter where the manager rudely glared at me as the lady explained I needed a refund. She refunded my credit card and didn't even apologize for the terrible service. Whatever salon you try avoid Stella Nova in West Ashley near the Citadel mall at all costs. read more

Moved here recently from New Jersey. Have gone three times and used three different stylists. All were good. I asked for someone with experience as I am older. Cut and colors were good. I did not get an explanation of stylist experience and relationship to price. I also have never been charged separately for a wash and style. Last appointment I had a single process, partial highlights and blow dry. I was very surprised to pay $260 for these services. Although I am not dissatisfied with the stylists, I will not go back because of the price and lack of information shared about the separate costs and cost by stylist type. read more

I made an appointment with Ciera and received a great hair cut. She talked about what I wanted and really listened to my answers. I wanted to have and updo for a wedding that I was attending over Easter weekend. I have very fine and thin hair and shorter length. My hairdresser at home did a practice updo 3 weeks before the date of the wedding and it looked great. I called several salons in West Ashley and found Stella Nova, I called and they had availability. I told the salon that I had very fine and thin hair and it was shorter. I sent them pictures of the updo that my hairdresser had done and asked if they had the ability to do fine hair. I got a call back saying that Haixiq could do my hair. When I went for my appointment, it took her 10 minutes looking for products to use. I had brought some mini Bobbie pins and small hair pins with me but she had no products that were meant fur my hair type which became obvious once she applied it to my hair, it was like hard glue. It was so bad she couldn't hardly separate pieces to curl and the few she pulled apart and used a curling iron on, literally smoked, I told her I was concerned and she told me don't worry it's got thermal protection. I could hardly wait to get out of there. When my husband picked me up , he said OMG what happened??? So I went back to the hotel and and tried to wash it all out. It took me over an hour just to get my hair unglued. I hadn't written a review until now because I didn't know how much damage was cause to my hair at Villa Nova. Not until I went to see my hairdresser and she told me I have a lot of damage on the back crown of my head.
