Why do some scoff at the idea of a man going to a salon to get his hair done, they have the best stylist! After moving back to the great Charleston area, specifically Summerville I googled salons. I'm happy to report I found that needle in the haystack! Located in a safe and easily accessible part of town, Attitudes Salon is the best choice for men's haircuts (sorry ladies, I can only address the men reading this). The reservations are easily made on the simple to navigate website and they'll even text you reminders. Walking up, I'm not sure what I was expecting for "Attitude," was it a biker, princess, or a pinky up attitude? The answer is the attitude what you'll leave with once your hair is finished, that of confidence and satisfaction. The inside is that of any other salon; shampoos, conditioners for sale and use here, obviously seats and stations to do their work and a cashier counter to name a few. The ladies here are very friendly, even at the early hours in the morning while all being able to smile with a energetic "Attitude." For my experience I had a wonderful stylist named Jami. Fair warning I had no clue who she was but as soon as I saw her, I remembered her from high school and while she's changed and no longer 21 (but 22....) she hasn't changed. What impresses me the most about stylist is they're also wonderful conversationalist, a good skill to have while passing the time. Jamie cut my hair with love, speed and accuracy while being able to hold a conversation, offer advice and most importantly take and give good jabs as in jokes. Honestly, she made my time fly by as I didn't have a care in the world but most importantly, when she was done my hair looked exactly like the photo I showed her. In wrapping up, Attitudes is a wonderful salon that takes pride in making their customers feel as if they're the focal point and striving to meet your expectations. The key is they go out of the way to make customers feel special by listening to your story, offering grounded insight and laughing at your jokes while styling your hair that is better than anyone else can offer for an affordable amount of money. I'm glad to have reconnected with Jami and took a chance with Attitudes b/c they now have a loyal customer. Would not recommend going unless you are okay being disrespected by the staff. I was humiliated and Amanda made me leave the salon in tears because I asked Cali for explanations for the recommendations they were making. From the second I sat down, I felt judged. Questioning the statements such as "if I wet your hair and brush here, it's going to fall off" was repeatedly met with "I know because I'm a professional and have been doing this for ten years". The "education" they teach at the salon is a one way path, if you ask questions you will get an attitude and not a scientific explanation. Decided to get my first perm ever here with Tracy, 10/10 recommend her. I love my new hair, she was very nice and knowledgeable about the entire process! Let me tell you about my experience because it sure was an interesting one. The first 5 minutes ( the best of my time spent there) I signed in and the hostess took my temperature. I was told that my my hairstylist will be ready for me in 15 minutes, meaning 15 minutes after my scheduled appointment. Already off to a bad start. I sit down and then hear this very loud scruffy guy walking with my hair stylists to pay at the counter. The worst thing wasn't that he was holding a beer and obviously drunk but it was that he wasn't wearing a mask. While he was paying and spreading corona around with his vulgar laughing he slowly looks at me and says "are you getting dyed" while pointing at his hair and smirking. I reply "no just getting a hair cut". He then, along with the staff, start bursting out laughing. They then continue to not so subtly talk about me in a low whisper nearly right in front of me. After about 3 minutes this guy does a drunk jock walk to the door while staring and coming unnecessarily close to me as he walks out the door. The staff doesn't seem phased and doesn't do anything to rectify what just happened. I then look around and see that no one is wearing a mask expect for the hostess who has her mask only pulled up to the bottom of her nose. Apparently the hundreds of thousands of deaths due to covid doesn't warrant mask requirements in this salon. It is optional to wear a mask once you get back to the chairs...like that is any safer then not wearing a mask at all. Long story short I'm not going back do to their loose mask requirements but also for the disrespect shown by the employees and their customers. read more

I sat waiting for an hour past my originally scheduled time and when the stylist finally came to the front she proceeded to stand and talk and whisper with the person she was ringing up. No acknowledgment, apology, or sense of urgency. I will find a salon that values the client. read more

Attitudes is just that - has an attitude! I took my daughter there to try and fix a botched highlight job. The highlighting result was great on the top, but we had explained it had to look good in a ponytail. It was completely dark underneath. But what is worse is her hair cut - the stylist was new, I guess, but she whacked and I mean whacked my daughter's hair. I have never seen a hair stylist chop hair like this one did. I called to complain and "T" had us come back in to try to correct the mess. He did a good job but the damage was done and more hair had to be removed to make it look decent. We have not been back because we found out from other clients that afterwards he discussed my child being too talkative. Guess he only transmits and never enters receive mode. I mean really? If you have to worry if your hair dresser is talking about you to other clients, then you don't need that hair dresser. I thought hair dressers were like your doctor...confidentiality, right. I mean if you can't tell your hair dresser what is bothering you, then you might as well just color your hair yourself! Well that was last September, and I will tell you, will not EVER go back. But if you decide to try Attitudes, be very careful who takes care of your hair and be even more careful how much talking you do....you may be the next topic of discussion. read more

While you may get a good haircut, I would not recommend Scooter at this salon if you prefer a stylist who does not diss his clients to you, diss the owner and how she runs the salon, pontificate about his politics, and doesn't value his clients' business. I've had my fair share of horrible outcomes when it comes to salons. I'm new to the area so I was hesitant. However, I set my online appointment with Monica. I wanted a wash, dye, cut and style. I explained what I wanted and Monica excited my expectations. I explained I love the new colors that people are trying but am afraid to go rainbow or full blue or purple. So she advised me to start with my regular dye color and hide the purple under. I was sceptical but wanted to give it a try. I'm so glad I did. The staff are very nice and I like that they use organic products. BUT the color for the 2nd time has been very unprofessional. Today the highlights are in the back half of the top of the hair and none in the front. And when I got home after running errands after my hair appointment I discovered that I still had dark brown hair color stain beyond my hair line. No wonder I had a few odd looks. I also was allowed to leave with my hair frizzy and unstyled even though I paid for a style. I clearly stated my hair is frizzy and I needed her to use a product for this but she didn't. I could have done better with a box of color and my own round brush and blow dryer and saved over $100. I did see others walk out with better hair cuts, so I recommend do not go here for hair color. read more

I love this salon and Trey does an amazing job coloring and cutting my hair just the way I want. Everybody is really friendly and I love the paraffin treatments that they do on your hands while your hair is processing. Trey and all the other employees go out of their way to make sure that your experience in the salon is positive! When I walked in to the salon, I was unhappy with my current hair color. I was apprehensive because I was seeing a new beautician for the first time in a long time. I met Trey and he was professional and polite and listened to what I was looking for. He was knowledgeable about skintone, face shapes and how to use that and make the haircolor look natural and work for me. I like the fact that he took pride in his work and even though he had been doing hair for a long time he continued his education by attending conferences. He is a true artist. When I had my hair done before it would look good when I walked out, but a few days later would turn brassy and not match my skin tone. He was able to use colors to turn my hair into a more natural shade that matched my skin tone and a few days later I look into the mirror and still love it. I just did a walk-in for a wash and style, my hair had been in a ponytail all day and I wanted to go out that night. I got way more than that though! First of all, the staff was very friendly and able to get me in right away. Once Marie had washed my hair, I informed her that I had a trim about a month ago and if she had the time and/or saw that it needed it, she was more than welcome to trim it up. I informed her that I had got a spontaneous hair cut at Ulta and didn't have a great experience and hated my haircut, but I learned how to style it. Being new to the area I am so glad that I have now found a salon to go to. Once she looked at my hair she told me she was going to have to trim it because it was so uneven. Went to the salon hoping to get very blonde/ white highlights. I had dyed all over dark hair that I wanted to keep that color. The stylist did not tell me that I shouldn't do that to my hair all at once. She had me stay all day do two processes and claimed everything was fine. She fried my hair and I learned that she didn't tone it like she claimed and that she used heat to speed the process on my hair which is a no no. She also messed up my base tone making it a bright red that faded to copper blonde. It was hideous! Don't recommend at all they over charge and lie about what they do. So be careful read more

I have long, thick, curly hair. I walked in asking for the hair dresser that cuts long hair and keeps it long. Dana did exactly what I asked her to do. She seems quite experienced and was confident handling my request. She educated me about the product used but was not a pushy sales girl. I did purchase product and would gladly book her again.
