You know that rare contractor you find that does great work and you're not dealing with headaches along the way or afterward? Or if there's a problem they come right out and fix it? And they have the same great small crew so you know who you're getting? And they don't try to oversell you? And they are very reliable? Well that's Steiner Solar! We've used Steve and his crew for probably 30 years. They've replaced and repaired systems on our pool over that time as we like the pool quite warm and to extend the pool season and solar heat the spa on the cooler days. I can only count on part of one hand, the contractors we've dealt with like Steve @ Steiner. He's kept the same employees which tells you a lot. We don't even bother getting other bids. We'll only use Steve. Steiners prices are reasonable. Once they start the job they are efficient getting it done they don't leave you hanging. But be sure and call well ahead as they're so good that they're booked out. I would guess that they have many many repeat customers. Steve is a heck of a nice guy too which is a plus. Give them a call you'll be so happy you did ! read more

They came three times and each time they were here less time then the time before. My solar is still leaking and now worse than it ever did. They never respond to messages left and you're lucky to get someone on the phone. $285 and it's leaking like a sift. I'm done with them. read more

Excellent company. The owner Steve Sharp is thorough, responsive and stays in communication extensively throughout the process. Because of the system requirements, possible rebates, etc. I can't imagine using a broker for this type of work. Steiner not only sizes, installs, and helps monitor the system to ensure it works properly, their experience helps get the most from the system you choose. Very competent. Highly recommend. read more

I recently had a new roof replacement and my pool solar was taken down and replaced by the roofing company. Of course there were leaks after it was put back up. I called Steiner's (second time I have used them) and they came out relatively fast about a 2 week wait . That's really great for it being middle of summer and fixed my leaky problems. They are a small company, very friendly and professional. Steve the owner very nice, honest and trustworthy. I would definitely pick this company over some of the larger companies around. read more

I called to request that a technician come out to check on an issue with air in our solar pool heating system. Without even having to come out, they were able to help us troubleshoot and resolve our issue! read more

I highly recommend this company. They came out quickly, found and fixed my 3 leaks on my roof within 20 minutes, and only charged me $120!

My pool service recommended Steiner's for replacing existing solar panels. From beginning to end I have been most pleased with the response and professionalism demonstrated. Steve the owner accommodating my time schedule to Mike with installation and answering all my questions and concerns. I highly suggest do not look any further, because you will receive everything you're looking for and more. read more

Inverter was showing an error that called for a replacement. SolarEdge provided a free inverter under warranty. It took Solaredge about 1 week to get a new inverterer delivered to Steiner. Once Steiner Solar received the new replacement inverter, they came out the very next day and swap it for me and got my whole system back up and running. Total cost = $0 (Free replacement and install) Overall, still a pretty happy customer :) read more

Everything went as expected, and Steve is very responsive and responsible. I had both EV and pool solar installed 3 years ago. I've had two problems totally not Steiner's fault and Steve took care of everything without a hiccup. He is totally a small local business and can charge less as he runs the show. No pressure, no salesperson getting a commission. I would recommend to my friends that they be sure to get a bid from Steiner's for their solar needs. read more

Steiners was able to fit us in early, we had an appointment weeks out. Steve came out and he was super polite and professional, an absolute expert, and went above and beyond. We have a connection blow loose on our roof. He fixed that, showed me photos of before and after, and checked every other connection after explaining what was done incorrectly in the past. He also spent way more time than I would have ever expected to explain things to me about my solar controller and pool pump system that no one else has. We've been in this home a couple years and been through a few pool and solar folks, and I've asked them questions, but never got simple clear answers like I did from Steve, and he volunteered it. He also identified some improvements we could make, but was not pushy at all. He just said he'd write up an estimate from the office and send it in case we ever want to pursue it and only spent time on site to explain what it would be for and why it would be a good idea. Steiners is the only company I want to use now. Steve really seems like a super knowledgeable and friendly guy. Service was amazing, even after climbing all over the roof in a heat wave. read more

Just finished installing a PV solar system with Steiner Solar. Overall I am very happy with the communication from Steve, craftsmanship from Mike and Drew, and now being able to generate our own electricity. I appreciate Steve getting inspection and PGE paperwork done so quickly after install so we could get our permission to operate notification ASAP. As with all things Construction, be sure to be patient. If you're debating between a big box installer or Steiner, I highly recommend Steiner Solar. read more

Steiner was recommended by my pool repair person, John Craft. Called once in November 2021 and Steve was going to come look at my solar, I actually spoke with a lady and she said he was going to call me. Never heard from him. Called Steiner on March 4, 2022 and spoke with Steve, he promised to come look at my solar and he said he would not flake this time. Never heard from him. I guess they are too busy. Oh well. Revised Review: Steve came out to my house today and he did a great job explaining what I needed to do to my solar. He'll get back to me with some quotes, thanks Steve. read more

I just needed to take some time to write a quick review.... we had Steiner solar install our pool heating system a few years ago, and everything has been fantastic from day one! This review, though, is related to their service. We have many squirrels around our house and unfortunately they have caused damage to our roof and to our solar system a few times. And on the occasions where we've needed a service call, everybody at Steiner has been fantastic to work with, quick in response, and reasonable in their repairs! Sometimes it is hard to find a company that not only sells/installs good products, but also provides excellent customer service after the the fact... and we continue to be impressed with Steiner!! read more

We hired Steiner's to installed both solar for our house as well for our pool. We could not be more pleased with how the whole process went. Steve was the most thorough when coming out to house. He inspected roof and shade to give us the most accurate proposal. He is not a pushy sales person, which is very nice to deal with. His small but seasoned crew was reliable and went over and above when doing the project. Very happy with how everything came out and is working. read more

I've got to add my opinion here to about Steiner Solar. Things I loved... * Small family business * No pressure to buy * We wanted the cash option. * We wanted a different inverter. They got it for us (SolarEdge Wave HD with EV charger + Monitoring System) * Process was smooth * Install was very fast, they were clean and had it running without issues. * Steve got all the paperwork done (permit, PG&E) done quick. * Nicely painted all the pipes in the garage and on the side of the house. The SolarEdge inverter Wave HD is beautiful looking compared to other units on the market and it's super small. That's it. That's all I wanted and they exceeded my expectations. I do highly recommend giving them a chance. read more

I did a lot of research on pool solar heating for about a month and received several bids. At the end of the day I went with Steiner's Solar company and I'm so glad I did! The owner Steve personally came over to meet with me to give me a quote. The job was done with great workmanship, needless to say I'm incredibly happy with having them do the install. With a purchase of this amount, sometimes one can have buyers remorse, well not the case with this purchase. Our family is connecting in a greater way than before because we all love swimming in warm (or should I say hot) water. read more

Had a representative from another solar company come to our house to talk about solar electric systems. Before going with him, I decided to call around and see what the going rate was. The representative assured me to not worry, and that they had "the best price." After calling about five or six places around the area, I found the best price from Steiner Solar. In fact it was less than half of what that other guy offered, and the panels were better quality. Steve is very knowledgeable and did a really a good job. He recommended us exactly what we needed and did not try to up-sell. Our system has been up for over five months currently outperforming estimates from PVWatts. read more

We were replacing our roof and decided to go with a stone covered metal roof which was a fairly new product at the time. Since we were replacing our old shake roof we looked into adding electric solar as well as replacing our pool solar at the same time. Some places would not install the solar system on the new roof. Others would do one system or the other but not both and others were high pressure sales but not Steve. Steiner's worked with the roofer and took care of all the coordination with the roofer and SMUD. Steve gave us a fair price and his service before as well as after the sale has been flawless. I would highly recommend them. read more

After meeting with a few other big name solar venders, my husband and I met with Steve and easily and immediately decided to go with him and his team to buy solar panels for our home. He kept us abreast of any updates or delays with permits, etc and was always available to answer any of our questions. His team was professional and kind (put up with my annoying, barking dogs while they were at our home setting up!) and put up our panels in just three days. We couldn't be happier with Steiner Solar and their service. read more

Steve is our favorite Solar Guy! I attended the SMUD seminar and learned so much on solar systems for our home. Most importantly, pricing. We invited 4 companies for bidding. 2 were high pressures sales presentation, 1 didn't care and there's Steiner Solar and the 3 were all forgotten. Steve is very straight forward, no pressure and most of all gave us his honest opinion on what we need. He installed solar for our home and pool. We are very happy with the cost, reliability and knowing that we are using clean energy power. Steve the owner is honest and gives 5-star customer service! I will highly recommend him to anyone. After spending more than two years researching solar heating options for my large, deep and very shaded pool in Fair Oaks, we were fortunate enough to get a referral for Steiner Solar from a well respected pool contracting company that has been in the business for many years. Steve came over to our house the day I called him to determine if a solar system was feasible from a roof standpoint and to assess how many panels we would need for or pool. We scheduled an appointment that week and after seeing pictures of his work and seeing an actual panel he brought, we very comfortable signing contracts that day. He promised to complete the job within a few days. He was done in 72 hours!!! The completed job looked great. He gave us a full tutorial about running the system and we were ready to see our dreams of a comfortable pool come to fruition. Last year (2011) the weather was very cold , even in June. Steiner Solar Service turned our 71 degree pool, into a "how warm would you like it ," pool in less than one week. In the beginning I ran our system 8-10 hours a day to get it to my ideal temperature. I like our pool at about 85 degrees. Once the ideal temp is reached, I can run that system 6 hours a day and keep it at a constant 85 degrees, day or night with no cover. It costs me an extra 100 dollars per month in the summer. I have my own private resort in my back yard thanks to Steiner Solar Service. Amazing, service and professionalism. Thanks Steve! You're the best ! read more

I must say, this is the first time calling Stiners solar company the young lady that talked to me on the phone was very honest . Most companies just sell you there product and don't listen to you.I will be using them once my electric bill comes in. Again thank you for being up front in taking time to explain to me the system. read more

Have used Steiner Solar for the last 5 years. They installed new solar panels for my pool and continue to provide my service. I love working with a local, family run business that provides great service at a very fair price. They always go the extra mile and make sure my system is working great. Heck, they even fixed a gutter for me just because they noticed an issue. I love Steiner Solar and recommend them highly. read more

I had Steiner's Solar Service install our solar pool as well as solar electric. We got the solar pool first, and asked Steve to plan out the panel placement for the solar electric in the event we decided to get solar electric. We got the solar pool a few years ago, and the kids get to enjoy a warm pool from April to September. Last year, we decided to buy a solar system. We got several quotes, and went with Steiner's because their prices were competitive, we trusted Steve, and because they are a local company. Just as Steve projected for us, we are on track to break even in 5 years, and every dollar of electricity generated from that point will be profit for us. I've been meaning to write a review for a while, but am compelled to write today after my solar pool stopped working. I called Steve and he came by diagnosed the problem as a broken actuator valve and replaced it for us. I don't think he was even going to charge me for it, but we ended up splitting the cost of the part. Note he had made two separate trips to my house to diagnose then replace the valve. This just reaffirmed that we made a great decision to work with Steiner Solar, a local company with an honest owner. I'd give them six stars if I could. read more

We have this huge and deep pool that dominates the backyard of a lovely 1950's ranch house. It was sadly to cold to use for all but short periods. I thought of looking at solar after we put on a solar PV system for electricity. Anyway, long story short I talked with Steve and he came out and did a reasonable bid. They came out and did a fantastic installation. The crew was friendly, cleaned up after themselves, and dealt with the little problems one expects in a timely and professional manner. We used the pool until October! There were many days when the pool was in the upper 80's! Can't wait for next season. Would certainly recommend them. read more

Steiner Solar was awesome! We did a ton of research with different large and small solar companies, and looked into power purchase agreements. In the end, we decided to go with Steiner and purchase the system. Steve was great to deal with and the quality of the equipment is very good and at a reasonable price. If possible, we always like to give our business to local family owned businesses, so this was a win-win. Steve has gone overboard to make sure everything went smoothly and on schedule. Now we just need to enjoy the benefits! read more

We used Steiner's Solar just about a year ago for our solar panels. We are just about at our "true up" PG&E statement time and he was right on target with what he quoted it would be. I wouldn't hesitate recommending them to friends and family. read more

Look no further if you need help with your pool solar heating system! I usually am a D.I.Y. kind of person, but as I took my solar panel down off the roof I quickly found myself in uncharted water! One of my solar panels was leaking water. I looked at youtube for some repair ideas and tried to repair the panel myself. Well, that didn't work, and the leak got worse. After calling numerous places and a couple of 800 numbers, I quickly learned that this was not an easy fix. I found Stiner's Solar name, and I called. I reached and spoke to Holly. This time of year repair can be several weeks out, but Holly was very honest about setting up what the expectations would be. Holly also took it a bit further and offered to call me if there was a cancellation of if her service tech could get to us earlier. This was an excellent option for me as I, being the D.I.Y guy could keep looking for other repair options too! After about a week, I got a call back from Holly who said she had an opening that day and her service tech could go by and fix it. Her tech came out fixed the leak and also re-installed the panel back onto our roof! Cost of repair was a lot cheaper than buying a new panel. Look no further for all your pool solar system needs. Call Holly, and you will be happy you did! Thank you, Holly and the Steiner Solar crew for getting us back up and running fast, efficiently and affordable! read more

This company is the best! Best price and best customer service. They put in solar panels for my pool, and then returned to upgrade my pool pump to a variable speed pump. I am pleased to write a testimonial for Steiner's Solar Service. Before I contacted Steve Steiner regarding the installation of a solar heater for our swimming pool, I evaluated several other solar heater companies in the area. The testimonials and ratings on Steiner's Solar Service were the most impressive to me. I met with and received bids from several Solar companies. My meeting with Steve was great and his bid was very competitive. I selected Steiner's Solar Service for the job and I'm glad I did. Holly and his installation team are outstanding to work with. The installation was completed within two days and it works great. Steve's Solar Heater is amazing. It's still early Spring, but already the water temperature has increased to a comfortable range for swimming. Also, as a courtesy Steve is assisting me on another water project which will improve our swimming pool experience. I made the right choice selecting Steiner's Solar Service and I recommend you do the same.... Rob F. read more

Very pleased with the whole process of solar panel installation for heating my pool! Steve and Holly provide great customer service, they're very personable and quickly respond to inquiries. I have to say also, I contacted several installers in the area and Steiner's was a significantly lower price. No hard sell here. The quality of workmanship is excellent. Everything was professionally done. Good explanation with documentation for using the timer and thermal heat controller which is user friendly. The work was done quickly and they were able to actually do the job earlier than first scheduled. Clean up was perfect. I have no problem recommending them for this work! read more

We just got done installing a 32 panel solar system and a 5 panel solar pool heater. I am beyond impressed with the service we received from Steiner's. I loved that all of my interaction was with the owner, Steve, vs a sales person. Steve was super responsive, didn't waste my time with some hour long sales pitch, and was the best priced around. Additionally, Steve's crew was extremely professional and you can tell they all knew what they were doing and had a great working relationship. Not even one broken tile on our roof and the project was done in the time frame I was given. His crew was here working by the time I woke up most days and cleaned up after themselves each afternoon. I spent 3 months and had about 20 bids on solar panels..carefully comparing apples to apples. Looking at mounting hardware..brands of panels..warranties..I read up online about the subject until my eyes were bloodshot. Some qoute in AC..some quote in DC..I asked for both. Some companies made bigger claims of how many KWH the system would produce. What I found w/ Steve..the owner of Steiners was no gimmick straight forward honest information. It became very obvious that PPA ...power purchase agreements..which Steve does not do ..are a waste and even if you can only afford a smaller system and then add on to it as you can afford you'll be better off ..the systems he installs are easily added onto later. A small family company with very personal service. He always was able to answer all of my questions..poor guy..I had lots of them and changed my mind a few times. Some of the larger companies..I won't mention any names..tried to use scare tactics to woo me back..that turned out to be baseless..same warranty on racking and installation ..the panel manufacturers stand behind their own product. I asked about lesser expensive panels I'd seen and was frankly told that they are not much less than the superior products he uses ad to stick with the proven product for many reasons. So..he was able to compete w/ the big guys easily..did a great installation..and is very very nice. I will have him back in a few years to add more to my system and most likely will have him install some solar heating for my swimming pool as well. He does alot with pool stuff as well.
