Ron at Solaron deserves huge credit. Solaron originally installed the solar pool and SunPower PV system on my home about 10 years ago for the previous owner. Recently the PV inverter failed. While Solaron is no longer in the PV business (they now focus only on solar pool), Ron still went out of his way to help. He searched through old records in his warehouse and found enough documentation from the original install. While it did not solve the inverter issue, it was exactly what I needed to get Maxeon to honor the warranty on my SunPower panels after SunPower's bankruptcy. Ron had no obligation to help, yet he did. That kind of integrity and customer care is rare these days. When I need future solar pool help, I will consider Solaron. read more

Not only do they hardly return phone calls or messages, but they also have extended wait times for installations. Their sales rep (Wade) is flakey and unapologetic for their poor communication. It took him months to even schedule an estimate with me, which placed me into their "busy season." We have had our pool for over 15 years and often debated about looking into solar heat but never did it. Due to some injuries I needed my pool to have warmer water. We contacted Solaron after reading their reviews on Yelp and Google. Darren came out and explained their product and provided us with a bid. It was much more reasonable than we expected! Our Solar was installed in June, the crew was timely, detailed and helpful. They explained how to use everything and stayed a while to make sure it was all good before they left. We had one small leak after a week and they fixed it promptly. We have not had any issues since. My pool feels AMAZING!! It's like being in Hawaii everyday! I have not had to run my equipment longer and I can easily maintain 80-85 degrees. It would easily heat above that temp but that is the range I like. This is the second pool that we have had heated by Solaron. The reason is simple. They use the best equipment (Heliocoil) and have an expert crew to install it. Russ responded right away to our phone call and was out to survey our pool and lot within the week. He understands the science that makes the system work and gave us a competitive bid. Had SOLARON pool solar installed 3 years ago. They did a great job. Had a leak a couple months ago & came out and fixed (fixed within the week). Now we're having issues with temperature of water & system coming on at odd hours. Called a few weeks ago & the first appointment available was last Monday. Did anyone show up or even call???!! No. We called them about 10x before we got someone to respond & rescheduled appointment for today. The office is closed so if no one shows up, we have to wait for Monday to call them-AGAIN. I realize companies are short-staffed but having horrible customer service, no excuse! Not calling people back for days & days, no excuse. Not showing up and not telling the homeowner (30 second call), no excuse. I have had many friends ask which company we used. I will NOT be referring SOLARON. Each year I use Jose at Solaron to bring up my solar for the summer and take it down for the winter. I specifically request Jose because he is so very customer service oriented. He is always on time, friendly to us and* our dogs, and he is patient and happy to explain to me parts of the process that I don't understand. He never acts like he's rushed, even though his work is so seasonal that I know he has customers chomping at the bit for their turn. He knows what he's doing, he's efficient, and he goes the extra mile. More than once, he has noticed that the equipment was leaking in a separate part of the system that didn't have anything to do with the solar. Nevertheless, he insisted on fixing the leak, saving me from having to get a separate repairman out here. Poor post sale customer service. Over-promised warranties only to get the old "sorry not covered" when we call for a simple service. After waiting for weeks and non returned phone calls, they send a contractor who after troubleshooting puts back parts in reversed positions making the system non operational - service call invoice was of course sent to me without delays. After installing parts incorrectly, contractor quotes $500 in needed repairs. We ended up calling a different service to come re-install valves and perform repairs that were promised to us should be under warranty at selling time. Lots of time and money wasted dealing with these clowns. Now I'm getting random collection calls and emails from yahoo email accounts written in poor grammar claiming to represent the company. Is this company president Ron Harbeck's vision? Say anything to close the sale upfront then act like a shady used car dealer afterwards? Buyer beware of this company's back office practices. I called them to ask if they could take a look. They came out the same day, went on the roof, found and fixed the leak. Every year when it is time to turn on and also when it is time to turn off our pool solar, I end up getting very loud gurgling noises coming from the pipes and from the solar part of the pool equipment for months. It makes it difficult for my wife and I to sleep because it is right next to our bedroom. I tell them this and they seem to think I'm lying, but it has seriously impacted our daily lives and it's something I dread having to attempt to ignore when it comes time to going to sleep. I call to get a service and they dont answer calls. Their system is that you leave a message and they call you back within a week if you are lucky. And you better answer that call or else it's going to be an endless loop of back and forth. And then if you finally do get an answer, they are under staffed and will take forever to do a service. They have attempted to fix it twice and it only helps for a few weeks and comes back. The noise just started again for the 4th year in a row and I'm going to call again this week when they open back up and I hope they can finally fix it read more

Today we spent a significant amount of time recovering our online PG&E account. Why you ask? Because someone at this company thought it was okay to create an account using our PG&E account number. They asked for our bills when discussing a solar project, that they had never followed up on, and they never asked for our permission to access our account online. PG&E says that this does happen but they are supposed to delete the account after they get the information they need. In our case, we were given access to the account and there were actually ~10 other customers. On a side note, I gave them 2 stars because they did a decent job with our solar water heating for our pool. I would ideally like to have assurances that they have trained their employees about notifying customers they will access and/or create accounts. I would also like to hear that they have trained their employees to DELETE those accounts after they complete access. This is really a slippery slope for a company to tread on and a bad business practice in general even with permission. read more

Solaron did an excellent job with our install of solar panels and upgraded pool pump. The price quoted was much better than several competitors. Darrin explained to me why the Heliocol panels were a superior solar panel and had demos for comparison. The install team was very professional and efficient. Our Pool was 78 degrees on average during the summer months and it now consistently hits 90 degrees in the late afternoon. The pool temperature falls to 81-82 degrees by early morning due to nighttime cooling effects. read more

I was impressed with the Solaron sales person who came out and the way he explained the difference in the different solar products. I did some research on my own and even asked my pool guy to make sure I was making the right choice. His response was that it was a no brainer... go with Solaron... good people and better product than others. Interesting experience. Premier Pools recommended Solaron as the businesses are related. It was paid for and installed during the winter 2019. The sales experience would have been negative if not for the connection to Premier. Since installation, the service is dreadful. Very busy and the service is one month out. In the meantime, the system has a roof leak and causes bubbles in the lines. I feel quite discouraged by their attitude and attention to customer satisfaction. Solaran installed solar for our pool. In the process, disconnected the pool filter backwash system in order to make the solar work because there wasn't enough outlets on the panel for their solar. However, when they bid on the project, they told us that the solar would work with our system as is, without any further upgrades. So they disconnected our backwash and never informed us that they did disconnected it, which caused other problems. The pool system won't work with their solar connected. Now we have to manually backwash the system. To remedy the problem they created, they promised to purchase a new panel so their solar would operate properly with my system. This was back in May 2020. We still do not have the panel as promised by the owner, Ron Harbeck, and Harbeck has been avoiding all communication we have attempted. It's time to get my attorney involved! They really deserve less than 1 star for this review. read more

My husband and I found Solaron through a recommendation from our Pool Man . We needed a whole new solar system (pump, solar controller, all related pipes and wiring, new copper and aluminum solar panels, as well as new piping on our roof). A nice and very knowledgeable gentleman named Ron came out promptly to give us an estimate, which we found to be fair. They were able to start the job within a month, and had it finished in one day. When it was done, the head of construction (Keith) took the time to tutor my husband on how the system worked. Then when questions came up, Keith was available by phone for help. One time he came back to our home to give additional help. Solaron installed a solar pool heater for us. From the initial consultation to the installation, nothing but professional and courteous. They communicated with us every step of the way. They did a great job on the installation and on the tutorial for the system. We had one panel which needed attention after the job was completed, and they were right on it. Called them out to repair my solar pool heater. Although it was installed by another company who I won't name but they drive red trucks, the repair guy was excellent. Arrived on time and found the problem quickly. He said some wires got corroded on top of the system because they weren't insulated. He spliced the wires and insulated them against the sun. He also fixed some other wires that were worn. Only charged a call out fee so very responsible. I would definitely use again. read more

Did a lot of product research for pool solar and found only two companies with Heliocol in the Elk Grove area. From the beginning Daron the sales guy was honest, about installation day possibly moving because of weather. It did, five days from the scheduled date. Nothing the company could do about mother nature. Installation and product was great. The two star rating came from a couple issues. I really wish the installer could've flushed out the plumed lines to my pool in the opposite direction. However, they didn't and flushed MUD into my pool... response from the installer don't worry, your filter will clean it.. install was in May and in November there is still minor sediment on the bottom of the pool.... After install the guy that ran my wife through the operation wasn't helpful. "The water goes up and comes down, and don't touch these buttons" was basically all he told her. Solaron office rep was notified and I asked for another walk through and they did a much better job the second time. Then comes the part im in question about. The referral process.... i've referred two people within a five month period and told them of my minor issues so far. They looked passed it and had solar installed as well. I received $200 off my initial price which was cool. However, the second time around they pointed me to the referral advocator app. This has been a mess.... 2+ months later I was finally able to retrieve the money into a pay pal account. Unfortunately, I recieved a $250 check stating the money from the app was going to be refunded and to accept this check instead. Totally confusing!!! I contacted Meghan the $$ lady two weeks ago and have yet to retrieve a response. Daron was also contacted but no response as of yet. Product amazing!! I had these guys installed panel in my roof two years ago. They ruined my stucco and told me the vibration at the end of the cycle was normal. They made live with that noise for 2 months. Bad guys bad service. They came back 5 times and still the problem was not fixed. Had to go to another company before they ruins house even more. Stay away. Don't trust them. read more

First off, I want to say the system these guys installed works great, keeping our shaded pool at 84+ degrees through out the swim season. The Heliocol system works as promised. The reason for the 1 star is the installation problems that have since occurred. Our system was installed about 6 years ago, on a second story roof that has cement tiles. A few years ago, I noticed that when I walked by the downspout that is located under the system that I could hear water dripping. I called and they came out and discovered a problem with one of the connectors, fixed it and no more leaks. About a year later we started noticing small spots on the ceiling in the second story bathroom, located just under the pool heater. A little touch up paint and the spots were gone, or so I thought. they reappeared and have since spread to quite a few, and I finally had to have a local roofing company come out and take a look. What was discovered was a number of cracked tile both under the system and along the path the installers used to access the second story roof. The roofing guy said some were "repaired" using a sealant typically used by pool equipment installers. I'm having the roofer disassemble the system so he can remove the tiles and get the leak repaired - cost for this and a number of other small repairs on other areas of the roof $800. I call and talk to the gal at Solaron to get a price for them to just come and reassemble the system after the roofer has finished the repairs and I'm quoted $1200 - MINIMUM "maybe more". I'm talking just put the 6 connectors back together, with new seals, and they want $1200 to do this for repairs that are likely due to the installers cracking tiles in the first place. LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE. My suggestion to anyone having these guys install a system on your house is to pay and have an independent roofer come by after they are through and inspect your roof for damage caused from the installers. read more

We had solar panels installed last year. It feels awesome to see how much power the 16 panels are generating. We got the smallest system the sold, bought an electric car, and still have a negative balance with PGE. Who knew monitoring the kilo watt hours generated by your solar panels could be so entertaining? The customer service was excellent and very responsive to emails. There were some construction delays due to weather and holiday scheduling. From signed contract to turning on the system, it took almost 3 months. I would take that into consideration if you are planning to get a new solar system before the 30% federal rebates expires Dec 31, 2015. read more

Turn around time to disconnect for winter or reconnect for summer is TOO LONG. You have to make appointments a month in advance. I called on May 14, 2018 to have service reconnected for summer and I was told it was going to be 3 to 4 weeks before it could be done. This is very poor service which reflects poorly on company. I understand it is their busy time but they need to anticipate this. I will look for other solar companies that are more timely. read more
