I have never been so impressed with the customer service of any company as much as I am with ACR. They did the solar for a new pool last year 2021 and it worked perfectly allowing us the most comfortable swimming experience in our new pool. That was last year... Next up our 25 year-old roof was looking tired. Because of my solar experience with ACR's amazing staff (both in the field and in the office), I decided to get a bid (1 of 4) from them on a new roof this year (2022). Oh my gosh Joe Petersen runs a smooth, courteous, professional company with an awesome team of workers. Not one person was rude, lazy or "questionable". I am one who asks MANY questions because I just like to know and understand "stuff". Joe was so very patient with me. (Thank you Joe, lol). I always try to HIRE LOCAL whenever possible but get at least 3 bids regardless. This LOCAL company came in competitive, were pretty quick to get me on the schedule, and once the job began did not waste a bit of my time or theirs. Thank you so much for your excellent service on both of my jobs. I was able to stay calm and confident that we were in good hands. ~ Janelle

Five Star Solar - Net placed to protect solar from birds nesting

    Five Star Solar

Proven Performance -- Excellent Planning and Design…read more I just received my 3rd True-up bill. The 1st one was for $0.00, the second was for $35.00, and my last one was for $7.00. That means that the planning and design for my solar system was near perfect. Everything about my Solar project was well done -- the planning, permitting, installation, and monthly performance has been a great success, and has yielded great performance. I am so happy that I used 5 Star Solar, for my Solar installation. In fact, I was so pleased, I recommended this company to my son for his solar system, and he also has had a great experience. If you want proven performance from excellent planning, design, and installation, you can't do better than 5 Star Solar!

While the physical install was done well (and in one day due to me arranging with the Billl…read moreHamilton Roofing - see my review on them - they rock) to seal the footings, I was never given the password for the Enphase controller despite repeated promises from Dustin he would. I can't modify the configuration (e.g. add another battery or more panels) without calling Five-Star. While I liked Dustin and the work his crew did, they can screw me if I have to change anything in the future. 5-Star Solar also had major mistakes in the site drawings that I had to point out. Both in the site layout and engineering details. The site plan submitted for permits for example just made up a number for wind load instead of calculating it (there is a standard which defines how to do this). I also now regret that I didn't spend more time investigating other solar controller systems which include whole home battery backup. 5-star Solar wanted to charge me another $4500 for 6-circuit backup (which I declined) which would require moving circuits to a new sub-panel. Other systems (e.g. FranklinWH) include whole-house back-up and offer more battery storage capacity for about the same price. 5-star did charge me an additional $3500 to tilt one row of the solar panels beyond the standard 10 degrees - but only to 30 degrees despite Dustin promising me they could tilt this PV array to 35 or 40 degrees. This felt both misleading and a rip-off. I used https://pvwatts.nrel.gov/pvwatts.php to model why the additional 10 degrees matters in the winter. I would not buy Enphase battery system again and I'm seriously considering replacing the battery and controller/gateway for three reasons: 1) no configuration password as mentioned above. 2) Access to monitor the system depends on getting an authentication token from Enphase. I don't trust them for 20 years (or more) to provide that. At some point they'll just stop supporting the "old equipment". 3) Enphase battery inverters only produce 240V and regularly have to imported power for 120V "unbalanced loads" (across the two 120V legs of a standard USA split-phase power grid). With PG&E rates on NEM 3.0, I estimated this will cost me about an extra $3000 over 20 years. Anyway, besides overpaying and not getting all the features I wanted, the system is still running - but as another reviewer pointed out, that says more about Enphase (known for reliability) than the installer.

My husband and I dug in our heels FOREVER, when it came to getting solar. There were all kinds of…read moresalespeople who came to our home on a monthly basis, and we just never had a real peace about being able to trust what we were being " sold", or told. My parents purchased solar from a HORRIBLE company that sounds a lot like 'SunFun'. After they passed away, and the house was sold...we were STILL making the monthly payments for over a year!!! That SunFun organization REFUSED to transfer the solar to the new homeowner, and eventually stopped taking or acknowledging our calls. It wasn't until we had to threaten the new homeowner with a lawsuit that SunFun finally transferred ownership. Due to this, we could not trust any of these solar companies...that is, until Kevin Bedard came to our home, and explained everything in great detail to my husband and I. He took the time to hear about our concerns, and he showed us how he truly cared. That same week, we spoke to two other families who shared their positive experiences about Ambrose Solar that made us feel that we would be in great hands. We had FINALLY FOUND A PEACE about getting solar on our home; KNOWING we would be in good hands, and we were ALL IN. It's been six months now, and we are beyond pleased with our solar panels, and the two Tesla batteries we have purchased. We are true fans, who have NOTHING but RAVE REVIEWS for this company. If you don't have solar, or if you need to add solar, Kevin Bedard is your man! and Ambrose is your company. Every employee has been amazing and helpful. In a world where customer service has taken a dump, this company has remained a class act. So again...if you are considering solar, call Ambrose, and tell them Albert and Rhonda sent you.

Any home renovation project has bumps, and this one had its fair share: after initial install they monitor the systems production remotely to see if it's doing what it's supposed to/expected to, and my system was initially under-performing. They caught it and sent out a team to problem solve it, which took a couple tries, but they didn't drag their feet, they kept on it and kept at it and got it resolved. It was no fault of theirs, just a technology glitch. Core fear was that they would give up after a couple failures and leave me following up with them to get it done, but I never had to worry about that. I also did not end up liking where they placed the control box- it was something that was going to make future maintenance of my house trim problematic down the line. They willingly moved it up a few inches for me (and my only complaint was the team that did that didn't patch the original hole as efficiently as they should have. If I had understood the box placement better on the first pass that would never have happened, so this is a bit of a complaint of my own making.) Jon Landsman, who sold me the system, stayed with us the whole time tracking the project, checking in, and following through on every detail, every question, every concern. He never made me feel like the demanding diva that I am, was always prompt and gracious! The bottom line is that start to finish, even with a few bumps in the road, I have zero question that this is a company that legitimately cares about doing what is right. The culture of deeply valuing customer service that they have built is unmatched by many businesses these days. I am SO pleased, and SO impressed, and I can promise that you will be too!
