I went to Marshall's today to shop for family when I overheard a customer being unbelievably rude…read moreto a young cashier. I was appalled by the customer's words, and the poor cashier was visibly upset by the remark the customer made. I noticed rather quickly that management did absolutely nothing to diffuse the situation and basically allowed the customer to show blatant disrespect in front of other customers. To me, that is wildly unprofessional on management's part; nobody should get away with calling a kind worker "a mother****er" for just doing their job. I'm not sure what kind of policies allow this behavior, but I do not have any respect for places like that.

First off let's just start with this is a children's store. So when my wife, 10 week old son, and I…read morewalk in on Halloween in costume and are greeted by some woman with the rudest can I help you? I was a little more then shocked. Let it be known that most of the mall was handing out candy for their Halloween event that was advertised, but the children's store decided to pass on that. I was shocked at how rude this woman was that before we got to leave another family walked into the same harsh greeting. They were also caught off guard, and felt like they needed to explain why they had come in the store. The only reason I give this Carter's 2 stars is because of the size/selection and that there is a man that works there that has such a positive attitude all the other times we have gone into the store.

Apparently they had 50% off storewide sale and she wanted to take a look. I had not seen or heard of Torrid before so off went. It's a nicely appointed, clean, and well stocked store with friendly and helpful staff. While I figured out what they sold I decided to look them up to see what their deal is. They offer plus-size clothing and accessories for women size 10-30. Torrid opened its first store in 2001, in the Brea Mall in Brea, CA. They have over 600 stores in operation across 36 states in the US and is owned by Sycamore Partners, owner of Hot Topic, and US office retail biz Staples. They sell accessories, shoes, jewelry, novelty tee shirts, fashion tops, pants, Capri pants, shorts, skirts, dresses, outerwear, intimate apparel, hosiery, gifts, and beauty products. Bottom line: Nothing here for me, and my honey things it's maybe too young designs, but it's just right for my 30 something daughter.

They've been closed here throughout Covid and I was looking forward to their return. However the company announced they were closing 60+ stores not long ago and just recently made another announcement about pulling products from their inventory for political reasons . I'm not a fan of politically motivated corporate nonsense under any circumstances. If it's a Mom & Pop or family owned operation then I am much more inclined to be more sympathetic, from a free speech perspective, and I'm not weighing in, pro or con, a specific issue here. However I am exercising my constitutionally protected rights of free expression, speech, and assembly by writing this post, speaking my mind and not gathering at one of their stores. I have read exhaustive arguments of Citizens United and other legal free speech arguments, as it relates to corporations, going back to the 1800's and understand that those entities are broadly protected for their expressions but I just personally disagree with its practice. I'm leaving out professional sports and news outlets and entertainment entities because it would be easier to list the ones that I don't have on my list of no-go's joining Dick's, Marriot, Hyatt, Lyft, GrubHub, Starbucks, Papa John's, Time Warner, T-Mobile, Kohl's, K-mart, Wayfair, Sephora, Forbes and more but the one that I have long missed the most Ben & Jerry, that one stung a little :-) Bottom line: My list is long fluid but Bed, Bath and Beyond is the latest sad addition.
