So excited to have a new restaurant in Manlius! Every new restaurant goes through growing pains, figuring out what works and what doesn't. The owner and staff members go out of their way to satisfy the clientele, and the food is worth the wait. If you see a line outside the door, there is a reason. If they are running out of food after a busy dinner service, there is a reason. Because it's delicious! Don't give up because it's busy. That's a good thing!!! read more

The place is spacious with some comfortable low top tables, bar seats, and an outdoor patio. There are handicapped spots right outside the door with a ramp, and accessible clean bathrooms. You order at the counter and then find a place to sit and food is brought to you. When busy this creates a bit of a bottleneck near the door. Also, having to tip on service before receiving it was odd for me. Everyone was pleasant and working hard as it was the first or second day open. You can tell they still need to work out a few kinks but overall good service. Unfortunately, a lot of the menu wasn't available yet. However, the food we did get was very good. I do wish they had more sauce flavors for the wings, and that the Buffalo sauce had a bit more of that iconic Buffalo flavor and spice. Was hoping they would offer a German beer as an option since they have a German platter. Both the German and red potato salad were tasty. read more

This is an order and find somewhere to sit place, with food run out to you. Waited 15 minutes to place an order, was informed they were out of fries (that they were cutting more and didn't know when they would be available again ??) and was offered Caesar salad as a substitute, then saw an upcharge of $2 for it. Sat for literally an hour from the time on our receipt, and asked for a refund at 60 minutes exactly, then our food came out. The food runner said it was really really busy. (There was no line after they finally started telling people who walked in that it would be an hour wait. I could have sent food faster out of my own kitchen at home. Remembering the people in line with us an hour earlier, each couple would have their order come out maybe every 10-15 minutes.) Fries never became available. Other people were getting very agitated as well. 6:30 is way too early in the evening to be out of very basic things. By the time we left around 8 PM, I'm pretty sure the only thing they had left as a side was salad. A man at the next table ordered a $51 fried steak and he ordered a Caesar salad with it, but it comes with 2 sides and they ran out of whatever that was too... they offered to substitute another Caesar salad as the second side. Odd. He was quite annoyed, understandably. The woman who was behind us in line for a to-go order left at some point because when they finally had her food ready, she had already returned the table number back to the counter and abandoned it without a refund. One couple who had come in after us went to the counter for a refund and said they had waited 40 minutes and needed to go get their kids. The staff offered their food to go and they refused at first and seemed to feel badly and took it. Not sure how their food came out within a few minutes... whoever ordered before them must've been seething. The cheesesteak was REALLY good, but the bun is too big for what's on it. A generous amount of cheesesteak and peppers and onions, but they need to lop a good 3 inches off of the bread. The Reuben was wildly underwhelming- the regular, marble rye sandwich bread (Wonderbread size) was hardly toasted and got sweaty and made the paper underneath it disintegrate. There was not enough of anything on the limp sandwich and the corned beef was so thin and was more like sautéed sliced hot ham than corned beef. The Caesar salad was probably a quarter croutons (really good croutons and I don't usually like them) but the salad was super small and would fit within a one cup measurement. No one checked to see if we needed a refill on any drinks and the paper bag with cutlery we were given after placing our order, ended up having only a butter knife in it. Not sure what a tip would be for, but you try to give people the benefit of the doubt when they ask for the tip to be selected upfront. I wish I hadn't. Not sure if we'll be back. Now that I look at the other reviews, it looks like they run out of food pretty consistently. Extremely disappointing to waste two hours of a precious free Saturday evening for mediocre food and nonexistent service. read more

I was really excited to try Steigs Grillhouse after hearing about it and seeing that they had just opened. We went around 12:30 PM, about an hour and a half after their 11 AM opening time. Unfortunately, quite a few of the menu items I was hoping to try were already unavailable because we were told they had sold out. I was a little surprised considering how early in the day it was, but since they had only been open for about five days, I am sure they are still figuring out inventory and adjusting to demand. I ended up going with the buffalo chicken wrap. It was okay overall, but I felt like the blue cheese overpowered the other flavors a little bit. We sat at the bar, had a couple of drinks, ate, and enjoyed the atmosphere. Eventually, the kitchen had to close because they did not have enough items available to continue serving. The concept itself is really cool, especially with the on site retail meat counter and butcher shop. It is definitely something different for the area and I am interested to see how the restaurant develops. Overall, I am giving them some grace since they had literally just opened. There were several things on the menu I was really looking forward to trying, so I would definitely come back once they have had a little more time to settle in. Hopefully next time I can try some of the items that originally caught my eye! read more

Tried to stop in at 7:00 on a Saturday. Unfortunately it seems they ran out of food. No sides, including French fries, left by the time we got to the counter, no burgers, more than half the sandwich options were gone as well. Not a great look. Multiple guests in line, my party included, left before being able to order. Not a great look gang. Highly doubt I'll try again, maybe you'll be more successful in actually ordering food at this establishment. read more

Steigs Grillhouse - . - Butcher Near Me - Manlius, New York

Ruben: $19. No structure supermarket style bread. Scant corned beef approximately 1/2" thick decent flavor. Flabby fries. Service: pay at the counter. Food arrived relatively quickly. Ambiance: 12:30 lunch. Very busy crowded. Line to order. Very loud. Acoustics need serious adjusting. Floor is very slippery be careful if using a cane. Probably very dangerous if wet. Think Winter. Chairs slide as if on ice! Patio much more pleasant. Menu is currently pretty thin. No burgers. They clearly have a long way to go. The person next to me left most of a sandwich on their plate and left. A good sandwich is not difficult. Perhaps it will improve. I'll give it a few months and try again. The meat case is mostly empty as yet. The steaks look good. The photo ..... should I wait for it? Probably not $35 NYC read more

Went to Steigs Grillhouse while staying in Manlius. Food and drinks were great, especially the fried ribeye. Will for sure go back next time I'm in town. read more

Went yesterday and got a smash burger and fries. The fries came out and looked like they served me the bottom of the barrel. The stuff they should have thrown away. Almost nothing but little tiny burnt pieces that I would have been embarrassed to take it out to a customer ...so the fries were terrible. Burger was ok but served on a cold bun. Pass on this place. Very disappointed to have to post this review because I hoped it would be good. Not going back. read more

I have had the pleasure of visiting Steigs on several occasions...ALREADY! I can tell you I have loved everything I have tried thus far. The chicken wings are prepared in beef tallow and are crisy/delicious. As are the fries! I had an awesome bratwurst but my favorite thing to date is the deep fried ribeye! Cooked to perfection and loaded with flavor. My husband went for lunch and reported back that he had the best pastrami sandwich he has ever had! Meiers Creek Butchers Brew is on tap and compliments all the offerings! But the specialty cocktails are pretty killer too! The restaurant has newly opened but they are getting their groove on. More menu items are being added daily so I cant wait to go back for something else! read more

9-9-26 We decided to try the restaurant today at 4:30 and we were pretty underwhelmed. The staff was pleasant but ordering had to be done at the register. If you wanted a beer, then you need to go to the bar to order and do another transaction. The cheesesteak was OK ($19) but my Pastrami sandwich portion was limited and really coated with mustard so order that on the side. Hard to believe they were also out of German potato salad that early in the afternoon.. Overall, I don't believe we'll go back. read more

My husband, son and I went to Steigs last night and we were very underwhelmed. We have been anxiously waiting for them to open as we shop at the Grant Blvd store often and are usually pleased with the quality and service. However, the restaurant has a long way to go! We arrived around 7:00 pm and were confused by the order-at-door system. Only one hostess taking orders for a very full restaurant? She was also running out orders and leaving customers waiting to order. We waited for over an hour to get our food and it was not great...my schnitzel was raw in the middle, my husband's sausage was burnt, and the German potato salad was refrigerator cold (it should be served at room temp or warmer!!). My son's burger was tasteless and the bun was stale, and the fries were soggy, greasy, and tasted burnt. Also, we were insulted with the presentation of cheap plastic cutlery! Who can cut a sausage with a plastic knife and fork?? If you are charging $51 for a deep fried ribeye, you should at least have decent utensils for folks to eat it with! We were gonna wait a while to try this place again. Steigs, please focus on an identity-are you a German restaurant, a pub, or a bar? You also need more staff! read more

Incompetent. Not customer centric. Disorganized. Argumentative staff discourse w/ front end and kitchen. Won't bother going back.

Went in for lunch on Sept. 1 with my son and ordered a couple smash burgers. Sat at the bar, as it was moderately crowded. Burgers and fries were extremely good. Beer was cold and tasty. Service was pleasant and attentive. Ambience was nice - not too loud even though it was fairly busy. When we finished lunch I went over to the butcher counter to get some pepperettes and brats for the weekend. All and all a nice experience and we are happy to have them in the village of Manlius. I will be back often. I think the earlier one star reviewers should cut them some slack for the first week or so they were open. Things seem to be going well for them now. read more

Went to Steig's for an early lunch Thursday. Arrived at 11:15 and one in my party ordered the pork schnitzel and was told they were out of the schnitzel. So the bratwurst and German potato salad was ordered. The roll for the bratwurst was tasteless and inedible and the potatoes were old and oily. I ordered the reuben which was delicious but didn't have any sauerkraut on it. There's no such thing as a reuben without Sauerkraut. French fries were soggy, too. This was my second Steig's experience and will be my last. read more
