Groski did not believe me and insisted that he would need my doctor to give him this in wtiting. He took 4 weeks to communicate with my doctor about whick medication I could take. Fast, non-invasive x-rays, the ability to fabricate crowns in-house, huge staff...felt like it was a step in the right direction. Fast forward to now, and I feel differently. I had one crown done, as a tooth had cracked. I was given a $1,000 estimate with the standard disclaimer that I'll be responsible for the actual amount. No problem, I know the drill, as I have had dental work done in the past. The problem was their "estimate" was 100% off, and now I'm being asked to pay $2,000 for a crown that was supposed to be $1,000. From my perspective, if my job was to deal with insurance companies on a daily basis and I had hundreds of patients and thousands of EOBs, I should be able to get closer than being half-way to the actual price. I can't help but feel like I was taken advantage of. Had I known the actual price, I likely would have shopped around and had the work done elsewhere. On my next cleaning visit, the dentist told me I needed something like 6 or 7 MORE crowns. How many of those are medically necessary, and how many are to add billable income, since they cost so much more than insurance covers, AND can be done in-house?
