Last technician…read morethat showed up insisted on immediate payment even though the company ALWAYS left an invoice and was paid by check in the mail. At no point prior to the appointment were we informed that the company had changed its policies nor were we given an estimate of the repair charges. The technician went on to berate the house sitter for not having money to pay him and threatened that he knew where we lived. Sad to see such a marked decline in the customer service and communications especially over a sub $200 bill where we have historically had much higher invoices.

Everything leaked so they definitely had their challenges and they were good at helping me only replace the most critical components. The only downside is I found their pricing to be on the (very) high side. I understand good plumbers are never inexpensive but they are pricey. Later, the office staff called me, acted incredibly rude, and threatened financial penalties. Now, they are sending predatory, inflated bills to a completely different address trying to force us to pay for a service that never happened. On top of that, ever since I gave them my contact info, I have been targeted by 10 to 15 spam calls and texts EVERY SINGLE DAY. They clearly sold or leaked my phone number. Absolute scam. We also wanted an an estimate for a new humidifier, to change out the lavatory handles that had been installed backwards, replace a utility room faucet, and to do a general inspection of all the plumbing In our house. We have plans to add a new bathroom to our unfinished basement and he had good advice about that. The humidifier went in without a hitch! The handles on the lavatories were changed without a problem! The new utility sink faucet that was installed was a dream! My lavatory leaks though...these had to be tinkered wIth several times., on several different days. You are thinking, WHY FIVE STARS???? This is why! Our plumber came out several times, in a very timely manner, to make things right. He could have easily told us that this was a worse repair than what it was. He was unfailingly polite, and optimistic and got the leak problem solved. Everyone that I've talked to or dealt with at Mattioni Plumbing has been very profesdional and helpful. I look forward to calling them for our basement bathroom project because I am sure that they willl do it right, and more importantly, if there are any unforeseen problems, THEY WILL MAKE IT RIGHT!

I would've given 3 stars, because 3 out of five is middle of the road which is average, but…read moreapparently Yelp thinks average is A-OK and our experience was not A-OK. Things started out great! Had him replace two geothermal well "boosted" water heaters at a time when getting supplies was as challenging as finding tradesmen who took COVID seriously. We liked him so much from that job that we had him back and expanded his work to plumb and install a utility sink in our basement (there wasn't one before). And that's when things took a turn for the worse. The sink needed a pump to push the water to the sewer line. In the process of doing that, an outlet in the room above got killed. He came back and fixed it in a timely fashion, but said "I'm not an electrician". Well, neither am I but I know when I've left a wire disconnected in a gang box. We had also discussed at the start of the job that the sink would be anchored to the poured concrete wall. When he was finished, it wasn't attached to anything (which is a recipe for leaks). He said he didn't feel comfortable doing it. What he should've done is tell me that up front and then I could've prepped the area for him and installed a board for him to anchor the sink to. I can't stand when tradesmen do whatever they want without consulting with the home owner - I was there the whole time. I didn't give him any grief about it, was just glad to have a sink in the basement where one didn't exist and I handled it from there. What really soured me was that we reached out to him in July for an issue with our HVAC system. He said he'd 'let me know when he could swing by." Why not just set up an appointment? July became August. So I emailed him again. Same evasive response. I figured maybe the job wasn't big enough for him, so I sweetened the pot with a couple of other odds and ends to make it a day long job. Again, an evasive reply. I am willing to give people the benefit of the doubt and I try and build long-term relationships with good companies, especially when referrals from a friend. In October, when we had a problem that really needed immediate attention - he told me to call him. I called him. And got the same non-committal response. If you don't want the job because it's too complicated, too small, or whatever, have the professionalism to just say as much. Thankfully, his weirdness drove us to another plumber who is fantastic!
