I have been taking my car here for service, and while I so like my advisor, Kiera, I'm not sure the car is serviced well every time. I keep having issues with my car, even after getting it fixed. And although they show me what they worked on and what else is suggested, I think their prices are a bit much. I guess it depends on the service you need done. I just had to come here because I couldn't get my lights and battery changed from other places since GMC is special when it comes to how their bulbs and batteries are placed/installed. read more

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Steele GMC. I began trying to schedule warranty service for my 2024 Yukon XL approximately eight months ago and requested a loaner vehicle because there were several issues that needed to be addressed. I was told I would be placed on a waiting list. A couple of months later, someone from the dealership called to say she was working on finding me a loaner, but none were available. I missed her initial call, and despite calling back multiple times, I never received a response. Over the following months, I continued calling and emailing. I was repeatedly promised that someone would call me back, but those calls never came. When the sales department contacted me about test-driving a new vehicle, I explained that I would not purchase another vehicle from Steele GMC because of the way the service department had handled this situation. Only then did someone contact me immediately and promise that service would reach out as soon as possible. The service department did contact me the following day, but the response continued to be that they did not have a loaner available. This went on for approximately three more weeks. I kept checking in because my warranty expired at 36,000 miles, and I was getting close to reaching that mileage without the issues being addressed Unfortunately, the experience did not improve from there. When I picked up my Yukon, approximately half of the issues had not been fixed. The vehicle had also been sitting outside and was returned to me covered in bird droppings. They did not even run it through the car wash, which felt like the bare minimum after everything I had gone through. I am used to dealerships that communicate with their customers, follow through on their commitments, and take pride in customer service. Steele GMC fell far short of that standard. Based on my experience, I would not recommend purchasing a vehicle from this dealership or using its service department. read more

I brought my vehicle in because it would not start. I was told it needed a battery, so I had the battery replaced and also paid for an oil change. There were no overheating issues or coolant leaks before bringing it in. After picking up my vehicle and driving home, it overheated on that same drive. I checked and found that the coolant was low. This is after paying for a service that advertises a multi-point inspection, which clearly was not performed. I had to tow the vehicle back at my own expense. At that point, I was told the technician was new and had not topped off fluids or completed the inspection. Shortly after, that explanation changed to "it's due to age and mileage," and the dealership refused to take any responsibility. Let's be clear: The vehicle was returned to me in an unsafe condition, without proper fluids, after a service that should have included basic checks. It overheated immediately after leaving. That is not a coincidence. Because of this, I was without my vehicle for 14 days, paid for a second tow, and was then charged over $3,000 for a radiator that failed after the overheating incident. The fact that they admitted the technician didn't perform routine checks, and still refused to take accountability, says everything about how this place operates. I would strongly recommend thinking twice before bringing your vehicle here. read more

We recently purchase a 2024 Lexus IS350 F-Sport from Steele. Our salesman was Brian. We managed to have nearly everything completed via phone before we even went to the dealer, including sales price, trade value, and preliminary paperwork. All but final financing which required wet signatures. Once we got to the dealer we were in/out in under an hour. THIS is how to do business! I can confidently say I've never been treated better anywhere than I was at Steele GMC Service Center. From start to finish, every employee I interacted with was polite, professional, and helpful. But I have to give special recognition to my service advisor, Stephen, who truly went above and beyond in every aspect of customer service. While my vehicle was in for transmission work--something that's already stressful enough--Stephen was a constant source of clear communication and genuine support. He always took the time to explain what was going on and answered every one of my (many) questions and concerns with patience and professionalism. What really stood out, though, was how he helped ease the burden of being without my vehicle. Dealing with the cost and logistics of a rental car was overwhelming, but Stephen did everything he could to make the process easier and less stressful for me. Zero stars..... I found them to be nice up front and to your face. But the reality is, they are unethical scammers. The work they had to do to replace the exhaust manifolds was extensive, and for that they did a great job. But when it came to the catalytic converters and the emissions, they basically raped me. I know cats aren't cheap... but $3500 ?!? Whatever. Don't forget the $400 core charge. The real issue is, they told me it ran rough because the BRAND NEW oxygen sensors weren't 'OEM'. Seriously? And they'd be happy to replace them all for only $1200. I refused. And went to my local Advanced Auto Parts to buy AC Delco ones. Ya know... OEM? $400. Upon having the parts store verify the codes, I look under my truck to see the O2 sensor wire hanging loose from the frame. Completely disconnected and the safety tab pulled. They even broke the mount clip so it cant be re-atached. Deliberately. Thats called Sabotage. If they had taken the time to hide it better I wouldn't have discovered it until I went to actually replace the sensors. (Which I returned right then and there, and got full credit for). Check out the photo taken in the parts store parking lot. As I write this, I still haven't been able to check out the other three sensors. But I will at first light. I wouldn't be surprised if they are all disconnected. Steele must train their service staff how to lie straight to a person's face while looking them in the eye. Because their focus is clearly on milking the customer for money, not being ethical, or even trustworthy. I will NEVER bring my GM Vehicles to another STEALership. Or in this case, back to this STEELErship. They are only interested in scamming their customers instead of giving them exceptional service. Just because the 'book' says it can take 6 hours, doesn't mean you charge the customer 6 hours when it only takes you 2. It's criminal and it's greed and they simply do not care. Bought my truck there, but now searching for another maintenance shop to take it to since the check engine light comes on and goes off by itself once a month, all sound (radio, phone, blinkers, door chimes, etc...) go silent once every other month. UNETHICAL, FAKE CHARGES, SERVICE ADVISOR CHAD NEEDS TO BE FIRED. I will start off by saying, I have been a loyal customer of Steele GMC (and Nyle Maxwell GMC before it was sold to Steele) for many years, and across many GM vehicles. That ends today. I took my vehicle in for a couple of repairs, including a leak in the windshield washer fluid tank, a rear pinion seal that was leaking, and a recurrent issue with brake sensors/system. Chad was my service advisor. In dropping off my vehicle, Chad explained that there was a $239 diagnostic fee, and that the fee would be waived if the repairs were done there. Fine. After dropping my vehicle off, Chad sent me a quote for $4000, including new front brakes and rotors, new tires, alignment, $239 for reconnecting a hose that had "come apart", $755 to replace the rear pinion seal, etc. I asked him to check my extended warranty through GM, and he told me the rear pinion seal would be covered. So I asked them to do that work, since I can reconnect a hose on my own, the vehicle doesn't need a realignment, and I was already planning on taking it elsewhere for new brakes and tires (I've had the vehicle for less than 2 years, and this is the 3rd time I've "needed new brakes and rotors" according to Steele. As soon as I sent the confirmation that I only wanted them to do the warranty repairs, Chad called me and explained that the total would be $452 for the warranty work (I have a $100 per instance deductible), because my GM warranty wouldn't cover some of their charges. I explained to Chad that I didn't think that was right but would call the warranty company to check. My vehicle was mysteriously not ready that day, and I had to call in and check on it the following day, upon which Chad informed me that it should be ready soon, and that he wouldn't be there when it was done, but I can call to check and come pick it up. I went to pick up my car, and the cashier acted funny, said there was something wrong that she needed to check on my invoice, and she would be right back. She KNEW that it was a warranty repair, and that Chad's EXTRA charges weren't right. She left (they called Chad while he was out), and came back and said okay, that's $452. I asked her if she could show me an itemized list of what they were charging, and she couldn't, as it was bundled to hide the fake charges that Chad had rolled in. So she grabbed the finance manager, Jenny, and she tried to explain that the charges were legit. When I told her that I had called the warranty company, and they told me it should only be $100, she said that it wasn't applicable, because I didn't purchase the vehicle from them, etc., and she doubled down on Chad's UNETHICAL FAKE charges. I told her I would be happy to call the warranty company with her, and she said she would, but that they would tell her the same thing they told me (I KNOW), but that their charges were legit because they have different pricing. That's not really how that works. So I asked her if she could show me a breakdown of what they were charging vs what the warranty company said they would pay...she couldn't. She said she wasn't going to let my vehicle leave the lot until the invoice was resolved, so she said Chad suggested I leave it there over the weekend, and we could resolve it when he got back on Monday. LIKE HELL. Have you read the other reviews where things got WORSE after people have left their vehicle? No thanks. I told her that wouldn't work, and please call the warranty company. Long story short, someone came to their senses and realized that I knew what I was talking about and wasn't about to take their unethical behaviors lying down. They ended up adjusting the invoice to take Chad's FAKE charges off (they later tried to say it was the diagnostic fee, which is bogus because it should have been waived per their policy AND what they told us, and the amounts didn't match up), and I left paying the $100 deductible I should have paid in the first place. Here's the real kicker: Jenny the finance manager apologized for their "error", and had the audacity to request that if I received a survey about my service there, that I ignore it. THAT IS JUST AS UNETHICAL AS TRYING TO SCREW YOUR CUSTOMERS OVER WITH FAKE CHARGES IN THE FIRST PLACE. Absolutely unbelievable. And this isn't about the money. We are loyal GM customers with 3 current GM vehicles, who will NEVER step foot inside Steele GMC again. Don't trust them. Had to replace my 2018 Chevy Colorado that was totaled by the April hail storm in Georgetown. I found a replacement after searching extensively in the central Texas area. Steele is very close to my home and had exactly what I wanted. I drove over on a Saturday and Karma was with me as the truck was right by where I had to park. Mel came out and assisted me. She had no pressure. Very personable and professional. Went for a test drive. Loved it. Bought it. Marshall in Finance was friendly and efficient. Found me a good interest rate loan and did the paperwork in a reasonable amount of time. I picked up the new-to-me 2020 Colorado on The following Monday and have been very happy ever since. Attn all Veterans. Stay away from Steele GMC in Round Rock. My son, an Army Veteran purchased a 2021 GMC Sierra Elevation in Nov 2023. He was told he would get a 2nd fob once the original owner brought it back in. He asked for this the day he signed his contract and then for a few months throughout the year. Battery recently had to be replaced on his only fob. He replaced it but the deterrant system issue began. He had to get it reprogrammed by the dealership. He submitted a service request online in Oct 2024. Told no service availability until late Dec or Jan. He is now being told no service is available until JUNE 2025! He just received a Safety recall notice as well that needs to be taken care of but "the parts may not yet be available" AND "if not performed can cause the rear wheels to lock up and cause an accident". He survived fighting in Iraq on a QRF team, survived hospitalization due to Covid at the same time it took his grandparents (my parents) within 3 weeks of each other, survived a truck accident and a concussion (not his fault) and NOW, a safety recall could cause an accident? and Steele is not interested in providing timely, good customer service? I was not given the opportunity nor not given the respect to be spoken to by management but I was told by this girl on the phone (Chasta?) that the manager she spoke to: Jenny Cook (asst mgr) would not assist and provide a 2nd fob nor could get his truck in sooner than June. Manager's name: Richard Davidson. We were told we could take the truck to another GMC dealership for service but as I explained, we shop and live in Round Rock. He bought his truck in Round Rock. Why shouldn't we expect we'd get service IN Round Rock? I am just one voice but apparently not the only one who's had problems with their service. I had an appointment at 1:00pm for an oil change on my 2023 Yukon Denali. My husband dropped off my car at 12:30pm. At 5:45pm we called to see if my car was ready to be picked up and they hadn't touched it. The lady that answered asked if we were sure they even had my car. Ummm yes... She said she only asked because two different people were assigned to it. What? Then she transferred us to a guy that was clueless that turned around and transferred us to a man named Chad. Chad proceeded to tell us that they might be able to get to my car tomorrow. We reiterated that the car was dropped off for a 1:00 appointment for a routine oil change. Chad let us know that appointment times are just drop off times and there is no time frame for when your car will beserviced and returned to you. I have never heard of such a thing. Mind you while my husband was dropping off my car, he overheard several conversations from irate customers. One of which the wrong parts were put on the vehicle and it was going to take an additional 10 days to receive the correct parts. Needless to say, we ended up picking up my car and will be taking it to Hewlett Chevrolet first thing in the morning. They will provide me with an oil change and some software updates while I wait. Steele's Service department is an embarrassment to the industry. I will never grace their doors again. read more

I have been searching for a particular car for months. Found it with Steele, however the pictures and videos failed to show the damage to the exterior of the vehicle. Upon test driving the car an error message about sensors not properly working came on right away. Since my partner had just bought the same car a couple of months ago I knew exactly what problem this error message correlated. The sales agent was so sure that the vehicle had just gone through a full inspection, but somehow this was missed? They kept me in their office 4 hours while they hit my credit 4 times. Excellent credit might I add. The energy was not accommodating or pleasant. Signed the paperwork while my sales person insisted that the service dept would be able to correct the error. He then comes to me stating that "he had good news" they were going to send the vehicle to be serviced with Mazda because blah blah blah. Ultimately I would not have received the vehicle until a week later. Even though they assured me the problem was so minor and would only take at most a day. So after paying a$4000 deposit, and leaving in a loaner car, despite what my sales associate told me I did not end up hearing anything from them until I reached out over 24 hours later. I decided that this situation felt forced and un-natural and that I wanted no part of it..... the manager called me and spoke with me in a very condescending manner, moreover supporting my decision. No one seemed to know how long my $4000 refund would take. The finance guy finally called me back and wanted my e mail and bank card info, and stated you should be receiving something shortly. That was Friday evening, it's Saturday and I didn't receive an e mail or refund. Now I'm being told that I have to wait until Monday when the finance dept is back. I highly advise owners to not use Steele GMC for auto repairs! My truck was having a shutter in the transmission, I set up an appointment with them to have it looked at, they had the truck for an hour and called me to tell me I had to replace my transmission for $6,600. I went to pick up my truck to get a 2nd opinion and they charged me $230 for a diagnosis charge. I went to A+ Transmissions in Cedar Park, they conducted an actual inspection of my transmission for free, then fixed the issue for $250.00! The dealer obviously doesn't diagnose even though they charge you for it! read more

we brought our 2017 Suburban in for some repairs. We have an extended warranty and service contract. Chad gave one amount and it ended up being more thank quoted. When I dropped off my vehicle the battery was perfectly fine. When I picked it up it was dead and so I had to pay an extra $260 for a battery. They kept my vehicle almost 2 weeks and didn't offer a loaner. It's frustrating that they ruined my battery and made me pay for it. I hate that Nyle Maxwell sold this dealership to Steele GMC. BE AWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Took in my car to get an oil change. When i went to pick up my car the service technician Stephen let me know that mechanic had notice my car was leaking oil. I went ahead and schedule an appointment with them. I went and dropped of my car on Monday. Another service technician had let me know that they're would be a diagnostic fee which I did not understand since they were the one's who let me know that it was leaking oil so why would i have to pay for that, he stated that people who change the oil are not real "mechanics".I went ahead and pay it and was told that was all i would be charge since my car was under warranty. Stephen called me back the next day and let me know I would have to pay an additional $200. I asked why when the car is under warranty. I went ahead and called my warranty and they let me know they had discuss with Stephen and AGREED on labor fees and part cost, they did not know why they were charging me an additional $200. Called Stephen and he let me know that they were lying and they did not agreed to anything. Went ahead and agreed to pay since I needed my car ASAP ( Stephen had also let me know they would help with a rental)Fast forward to Thursday morning and I received a message my car would be ready at 4pm,got a message around lunchtime saying my car would be late because the mechanic had to help translate for another customer (understood not a big deal). Got a message right at 3pm saying the mechanic messed up and ordered the wrong part they were going to try and find a part locally. Friday morning got another message part was found and my car would be ready that afternoon. Went a pick up my car and on my way out of the dealership noticed my car was struggling to pick up speed, drove it home (my house is only 10min away) I asked my husband to go back with me to dealership to ask what did they do to my car. At this point Stephen was gone for the day and we asked to speak with the service manager(apparently they're was some kind of retreat that weekend and nobody they're to help us,would have to wait until Monday). Spoke with Kyra and she called the mechanic who worked on my car to come speak with me. He let me know that the catalytic converter was bad and he told Stephen about this, that message was NOT RELAYED back to me. I did not feel comfortable taking my car home so I told them it would stay they're until I spoke with service manager. At this point i need a car so I asked ok can i get a rental since Stephen said yall would help, Kyra said sorry thats not true those services are only offered to customers who have GMC warranty....At this point im frustrated, my husband calls back on Monday morning to speak with the service manager, not available his secretary lets him know she will relay the message, not a single call or message back. My beef is with service department, not sales here. Service has always been crap there when it was nyle maxwell, but I was hoping now that the dealership has changed hands it would be different. Nope. Coincidentally (?) both remote key fobs on my 2019 GMC truck stopped working at the same time last week. One has never been out of the box. I called the dealership to see about a way to fix them. Let me pause to say that I understand they are there to make money. BUT - they out and out LIED and told me there "is no way to reprogram the remotes" and they have to use a (some mumbo jumbo technical jargon for some piece of equipment they have) to reprogram them. maury povich did some digging an revealed THAT IS A LIE! Ok, it was me, not maury. I did a quick internet search and found that you can indeed reprogram them yourself. It takes time and some patience, but it can be done. Now this COULD have been a great story about how steel gmc told me i could do it myself, but it might be better and easier for me to bring it to them and they could also check the truck for any other issues. I sent in a credit application and got my vehicle appraised. Never was my credit pulled, I never got notified of any sort of deal. Never was asked about a down payment. Nothing, all because I wanted to do the deal over the phone, I didn't want to sit in the dealership waiting. We recently had a scheduled appointment at 10:15am for full service and tire rotation, at 2:30 they finally took my GMC 2500 into the shop. No I'm sorry, no explanation! Fast forward to today, a family member is looking for a new truck to replace his stolen GMC truck while on a business trip. See one on their website exactly like he wanted, he called to verify it was there and salesperson verified it was there and as listed, told him he was on his way. He goes immediately to view the vehicle (he is 10 minutes away) and they are selling said vehicle to someone else. Did I mention he had cash, no financing. Extended warranty/Taking vehicle in for service. I took my truck in for service and approved any work that was covered under warranty. I was without a vehicle for two weeks without a loaner Chad informed me loaners are for the more pressing customers only that have major issues so I was left without my vehicle for two weeks. It was a good thing I had a back up vehicle, Chad will definitely let you know that there will be diagnostics charges even though you have your warranty. He will definitely make you feel and prepare you to pay diagnostic charge. I did not feel comfortable leaving my truck at first, but when I bought my truck here new, they treated me well. I had to pay over $430.00 for diagnostics. Part of that charge was for a sensor clip that was accidentally left unplugged you would figure they'll do a courtesy and just plug it in for you but instead get billed $229 +tax. This charge does not feel justifiable. I'm a technician as well in a different field. I will never charge for my services for something this simple especially when other work has been approved. I constantly had to reach out to Chad for updates. And he admits when they sell the extended warranty they make it sound more glamorous, than it really is. Sales and Service should definitely communicate So that customers know what to expect when coming back for service. Highly recommend you go to a different dealership with better ratings Until the reviews start going up. It was my fault for not reviewing the reviews. read more

I scheduled a service appointment for 10:30am drop off to have the weather stripping repaired around the doors of my Yukon. The service technician (Chad), asked me if I had I ride because I wouldn't want to wait because they might need to order a part. No problem, I ubbered home. He said I would get a text for the estimate of repair which I could approve or deny. By 4:30pm I had not received anything so my husband called to see the status in which he was told they don't control the order of what's seen, despite having an appointment. I never received any update, nor an estimate for repair. 24. Hours later, still no word. I decided to go ahead and pick up my car. Upon arrival I explained I was there to get my car because it hadn't even been looked at nor an estimate for repair generated. There was not an apology, not an explanation of delay, nothing. Chad went and got my keys and told me where my car was parked. Not only will I never take my car back there for service or maintenance..I will never buy a car from them again either. I would rather drive into Austin to a different GMC dealership than to deal with poor customer service with zero communication. read more
