We were on our way from SLO needing our afternoon coffee while driving into LA. Found them in the maps app search and made a quick stop. Excellent coffee, friendly service, and nice atmosphere. A little country music playing in the background making it a nice ambience. Would definitely recommend stopping in. I hear they serve amazing burritos. Didn't get a chance to try, but could smell the yummy bacon in the shop. Will stop again when in area. read more

Their drip coffee... hazelnut flavored... is the bomb!!!! Seriously wish there was one of these in Vegas because the flavor was beyond. Only downside for being this good, is they are super busy all the time and the line goes out the door. read more

My husband and I love to try new coffee spots whilst traveling. Steaming bean has been a staple of ours for a couple years now while visiting the area. We tried the breakfast burrito on our most recent trip and had to have it 2 days in a row! They're huge, so the next day we shared haha so good, highly recommend this spot for a wonderful start to your morning. The location and atmosphere are perfect with lots of seating and outdoor patio to enjoy the coastal air. The staff is friendly and welcoming, it's a small shop so expect a wait for your food. But it's absolutely fresh and 100% worth it! Can't wait to go back! read more

I want to take a star off because it took 30 minutes to get our breakfast burritos but they were worth the wait. I'd recommend the cashier letting people know a rough estimate of time when the order was placed just to manage expectations. We ordered a hot specialty drink and a plain iced coffee. These were made quickly, very delicious, and I was surprised that the specialty drink stayed so hot while waiting. They were so busy and handled it well. Very friendly, great drinks, delicious food. The steaming bean is a staple of Shell Beach, the place where the locals congregate. It's a great open space with a solid menu of drinks and food. The coffee is good and the lattes are always flavorful. I like their breakfast burritos and fruit/yogurt bowls. The only real downside is that they often get overwhelmed with customers so the wait can run long. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. Don't forget to use the Yelp check in for a drink size upgrade! read more

The coffee is pretty good, but their inability to serve simple coffee drinks to customers in a reasonable amount of time makes this place a no-go for me. 2 cappuccinos took 23 minutes, both times! It's just not acceptable. They need a faster barista or 2 baristas. I visited for the first time. Ordered avocado toast on sourdough bread. Was a bit disappointed to pay $5 and only received 1 piece of toast. It wasn't a large piece, just regular sized bread, so a bit overpriced. But what I was really disappointed by was this huge plastic container that it came in. Super wasteful and now that China is not accepting anymore plastic for recycling from the USA this will sit in a landfill forever. All that was needed was a small paper plate. They only provide plastic cups for water as well. Please consider going plastic-free or at least taking steps to use less unnecessary plastic. There's no excuse anymore. read more

I had a Spiced Chia Latte with coconut milk and ended up having to share it with my Cowboy Coffee man (black, no sweets, no creams). Yummy coffee! Tried their nutty hazelnut lighter roast and lemony lemon scone! Both tasted great! Husband stated his Columbian roast was good. Loved the warm cozy feel of this place and the inside and outside seating. There was a variety of delicious sounding pastries to choose from. I love that they make decaf also. read more

Sloth like. They make the best drinks buttt the food service...I ordered a turkey sandwich and it took exactly 18 minutes for me to get it. It wasn't because it was super busy (only one other food ticket besides mine). The people working at the food counter had zero sense of urgency and moved as if they were making a sandwich for themselves casually at home. I watched as they slowlyyyyy spread the mustard and mayo. Soooo slowly placing avocado on the slice of bread. Plus, only two thin slices of turkey and a bunch of lettuce. Please train your employees to move a little faster. The person making the drinks moved quickly and efficiently, your food prep people need to do the same. read more

The only downside is that the line can get pretty long in the mornings, but that might just be because everyone wants Steaming Bean as part of their daily routine. I guess that's actually a pretty good sign of how great this place is! :) I got their Pumpkin Spice Latte and breakfast sandwich, which both were incredible! Loved them before renovations and now they are even better! Love the new sleek matte black look. This store is great for a morning pick me up whether you need caffeine or some light breakfast food. The breakfast burrito is delicious and so is the Mediterranean bagel, pictured. My favorite drink is the Milk Way blended espresso drink - it had caramel and mocha flavors all in one. Delicious! Took a quick pit stop here on our way back home, it was very conveniently located off the freeway. It also looks like a local favorite. They have a large variety of lattes to choose from. We got the Mexican Mocha and the Kona Mocha. Both delicious, the Mexican mocha was sweeter than the Kona for people who aren't super big on sweet coffee. The breakfast looked AMAZING! However, it was a 40 min wait to be able to get breakfast due to the amount of people and small kitchen. But I think it was busier there because it was also the first day back for school at the school a block a way. I would love to try the food one day. The only down side was the young staff looked absolutely miserable, and they weren't friendly. It was busy so hopefully they were just focusing on getting orders out but definitely killed the mood. read more

Off a street that parallels the highway stands a small dark-grey rectangular building with an off-white diamond-shaped sign with the words "Steaming Bean" and a small coffeecup icon near the top point. A small string of white LEDs line the top part of the roof that juts out and provides a small covering for the outdoor seating directly below. Inside is a cozy, warmly-lit coffeehouse with orange walls and local art hanging. All with the overall smells of...coffee. To the left is the ordering area where baked goods wait idly by in a refrigerated display case, a hanging blackboard displays specials, and a griddle can be seen behind the register. Straight back - above the area where all their coffee carafes are held - is their entire menu of sweet and savory offerings. To the right is the main seating area of tables, booths, comfy chairs, and window seating. On each table is an adorable house made of coffee stirring sticks. I was in need of a cup o' Joe and their breakfast burrito with sausage. With coffee cup in hand, it was now time to decide just what blend to get. Next to the sweeteners and milk by the coffee, is a whole list of available brews: Fograiser, Kauai Island, Nutty Bean. etc. Each with their own brief description of the taste and background. I went for the Kauai Island since I like a nice Kona blend (not as bitter as other mixes I've had but with a good kick of flavor). After a small wait, the burrito came: a massive stuffed thing of eggs, potatoes, salsa, sour cream, and link sausages can be seen wrapped by everything. It was a fine burrito that didn't leave me hungry, but it needed just a bit more seasoning/salt within (though it is in the available shakers of course). Overall, a fine place to stop for breakfast. The coffee is the huge star here but the food can also support their menu like a great sidekick. Everything decorated gives it a cozy atmosphere that can easily relax the mind if the everyday rush has got to you. A fabulous 4 from me. read more

Love this place for coffee, and breakfast. On our first visit, we ordered a coffee Latte and an egg sandwich which filled me up. You can sit inside, or out in the back on the deck to enjoy the ocean air with plenty of seating and tables. Down below the deck, there is parking for about 5-6 cars if there are no available spots out at the curb in front. A nice comfortable vibe with friendly and accommodating baristas to make your order enjoyable. We were only in Pismo Beach for a couple of days, but on our next visit, it's my go-to place for a coffee and an egg sandwich. read more

Drove by and saw the cute black and white decor. The coffee is good but other than that stafff is super slow and tbey couldn't care less if you tell them you've been waiting 40+ minutes for your order. They will just cont to take their time, talk, look at each other's phone and laugh while you stand at the counter watching. Super rude. They have no sense of urgency. No apology when tbey handed us our food. Another lady waited 25 min just get one pastry. And this is after the morning rush, and there's few customers in the shop. Overall, terrible service. Came here for breakfast with my wife and two young children. My kids loved the strawberry smoothie and cheese danish. The coffee that we got, a Caramello, was nothing short of amazing. The croissant breakfast sandwich was really light and flakey and the eggs were fluffy and perfectly cooked.
