I have been wanting to try authentic ramen for years. I have only ever had the grocery store instant ramen. Keeping in mind this was my first ever experience eating authentic ramen. I LOVED it! I typically do not like soups. But this is definitely an exception! I would eat this a lot more often. The broth was so tasty and hearty. The chicken was large chunks. The vegetables were so tasty. And the serving was so big that I couldn't eat all of it. I tried to eat the pork bao, but I was so full that I could eat only a few bites. The little bit I was able to eat was very tasty though! I was visiting from out of town and really wanted soup dumplings and this was the only place in this area that had them. The soup dumplings and pork steamed bao was disappointing. They both lacked a good flavor and tasted like fatty breakfast sausage. The Japanese Ramen was quite tasty and, as someone afraid of ordering ramen, I would order this again. Other ramen I have tried was very hearty and heavy, this was good and perfect for a cold day. The restaurant was clean, service was quick. Overall a decent lunch. Friendly, large Asian restaurant in downtown. We had three of the soups, chicken pho, ramen and veggie noodle soup. All were very good. I eat alot of pho, this wasn't the best I've had but darn tasty with all the fixings. We also ate our way through some orders of soup dumplings. Again, darn tasty but perhaps not as good as Seattle. Warning: Please Avoid this restaurant!! In addition to the rudeness and disrespect to its customers, the owner obviously is also dishonest and a racist. My friend didn't apologize and we will come back to clarify that. He clearly said he didn't apologize. You treated him differently because he is white. You are a racist for sure. If I could give this restaurant zero stars, I would. The service was appalling, and I was treated with disrespect from start to finish. First, customers are required to prepay and add a tip before receiving any service. I left a 15% tip expecting at least basic courtesy. After i paid for food including tips of about $52. I asked the cashier for water, he pointed me to the soda fountain. I pressed the button labeled "water" but only got lemonade. The design of buttons was confusing. When the waitress delivered our food, I explained the situation and asked for water. Instead of simply bringing us some, she blamed me for "not paying for lemonade," and then told me to speak Chinese because I am an Asian woman. I even offered to pay extra for both lemonade and water--yet she still refused to bring water. Instead, she coldly repeated that she could "show me how to get water." This unhelpful back-and-forth dragged on for three rounds until my friend finally followed her to the machine. All the while, the restaurant was nearly empty, with only one other customer, who overheard and even shouted that he'd pay for our water. At the end, no real service was provided--other than dropping food on our table. I left my meal untouched, humiliated by the experience. The food didn't even look that good. In a country where tipping is expected everywhere, this restaurant shows no understanding of what service means. Forcing customers to prepay tips while delivering zero care or respect is unacceptable. This is my first ever leaving a review with any establishment that you're able. A few nights ago my family decided to order take out from Steam Panda. Mind you this was our first experience with this restaurant. After I received the breakout of the bill via email I was completely PISSED OFF that I was charged a tip. CHARGED A VERY LARGE TIP FOR TAKE OUT! Say what? For that, they should have come to my home and serve me as if I was present in their restaurant. Mind you I went and picked up the food myself. With that I decided to look over the reviews on Yelp and discovered customers complaining about having to pay a tip BEFORE being served IN THE RESTAURANT. I want to give credit where credit is due. Steam Panda was open until 9PM and that was my principal reason for picking this Chinese restaurant in search of Vietnamese Pho. I arrived at 8PM and was their only customer til closing. The waitress was very welcoming as were the signs on wall, and pictures showcasing "Chinese comfort food". Their menu is extensive--a surprising variety of regular and unique entrées. But I chose the Pho which featured two different meats and all the traditional noodles, vegetables, garnishes and spices. Always come here when we're in town! It's a good amount of food- and the staff is so kind and welcoming. We went twice this week while in town and one time my friend left her phone and they let us come by even after closing to grab it- it was so nice of them. Service of this restaurant is a joke. If you hated your customers who paid for meal and tips that much, you might have chosen the wrong business. I witnessed this on 9/22 around late lunchtime. Instead of addressing a basic service complaint (customer paid tips but the owners refused to serve water), staff raised their voices at customers, refused to continue service, and called the police. We used to love this place. Have given it many chances but quality has gone down. Soup dumplings are SO SMALL. Used to be able to get our child an order and now it takes almost 3. With the smaller size we end up with about half that dont even have any soup in them. We were hoping it was a one time thing but this has been poor experience the last 4 times we've dined there. Very very bad experience, do not come here. We ordered and to start off they asked for tip, when we had to walk up to the counter and order ourselves. They gave us a rude look when we didn't tip. It's not like a normal restaurant you're probably familiar with. If you want to dine in don't expect to get a server. You have to go up to the cashier and pay there and go back to your table and they will bring your food and drinks. The dumpling was sub par, sushi wasn't very good, and I was expecting the bar to be way better since they're known for it. The ramen was good, the flavored pear sake was delicious and the poke bowl was really good too. Those are the only things I really recommend. If you want something laid back and eat with some friends inside or takeout, go for it. Wouldn't go there for a first date lol. For me it's overpriced for the quality of the sushi :( flavor was totally lacking for the dumplings.
