It was a good experience. We were served pretty quickly. The only hiccup was using the APP and getting our points. The cashier tried looking us up by email and phone number to no avail. This is the first time I see products for sale made with Beef Tallow (lotions, lip balm, etc). Nothing like slathering yourself with lard... lol. Just kidding! read more

Steak ’n Shake - Sign from road - Fast Food Near Me - Terre Haute, Indiana

hello! my friends and I went to get some icecream late night! We had multiple orders, which is so annoying for most people taking our order, but a wonderful young man Latrel took our order. He never made us feel like we were asking for too much. His customer service made our night and made us definitely want to come back. Steak and Shake, give this young man a raise. He was so respectful and I appreciate his respect and opinion when asking for help! THANK YOU LATREL! read more

Quick stop at the drive-through for a shake on my way home. The person greeted me very nicely on the loudspeaker and he was very friendly at the front window asking how my day was going. It usually takes a little longer at Steak 'n Shake because they make things fresh, so it took a little bit longer through the drive-through, but was certainly worth the wait. I ordered a snickers shake, it was thick and creamy made with real ice cream and tons of snicker pieces along with whipped cream and a cherry on top. Perfect end of the day. read more

Had this for lunch today. The restaurant is so nice. It's pretty big. I love the bright colors. It was definitely unique you order by a kiosk and then they call your name and number and you pick up your order. I had the garlic burger meal. It tasted so good. The food was hot and delicious. The restaurant had great service. It did not take too long to make the meal. read more

I love this Steak 'n Shake. The employees are always so respectful and polite. My boyfriend and I go here pretty often and there is always someone cleaning the tables and asking how our food is. We get the double garlic steak burger (10/10 guys). Butterfinger shake. Y'all... so good. There is sometimes a bit of a wait for the food but I understand, I've worked in a restaurant before. It gets busy sometimes. read more

*Garlic Double Steakburger* I haven't had a G.D.S since.....well....if i had to guesstimate. I'd say I haven't had one of these Garlic Boys since circa 2017/2018. Listen up, A cold brisk late afternoon in Terra Haute, I rolled through the drive-thru and said "gimme a large #5, Dr.pepper." As soon as the woman handed me my D-Pep i thought i was somewhere else getting Big Gulp. Never get a large drink from Steak n Shake unless you're drinking for 3. Just a tip. Anyway, let's get to what this review is all about. Hey, i'll keep it plain & simple. Did the garlic double steakburger hold up? My answer = N.O Don't get me wrong it's alright but let's just say I came for the burger & stayed for the fries. They were prob the best S'n'S fries i've ever had. I recommend this Steak & Shake however my personal overall review for this visit is gonna be the soft 2/5 read more

Let's start with the good. When I pulled into town late, Steak n Shake was open, unlike almost every other restaurant. And the food is pretty cheap... But, as they say, you get what you pay for. I got the No. 2 combo, which is like $5 plus tax, and it came up way short. The bread was tough, and the meat was warm, not hot -- though the taste was fine. The fries were worse. Barely warm, and almost saltless. They didn't bother to put salt or ketchup in the bag either. Pretty big bummer, overall. read more

OK the food was OK when it finally came. By the time the food was consumed, our milkshakes came. The service was good considering there's only one person, taking the order, bringing the food and bringing you up at the register this poor guy was getting beat to death, if you're in a hurry, this is not the place to go. Oh, I forgot to say he was also cleaning the tables after you left. No help food. Just depends on if you're in a hurry or not we were there for a quick lunch, and it turned into an hour and a half wait read more

After reading these reviews I was concerned about eating here. The bathrooms were sparkling clean and the toilet paper was lusciously soft on my bottom. As I ordered I noticed that the person taking my order was incapable of covering her nose with her mask. Which leads me to ponder was it simply ignorance or a rebellious action. The burger I ordered was tasty. As I watched them prepare my burger I was witness to a bun tumbling to the kitchen floor. It was well within the three second rule, however was swiftly discarded. This leads me to wonder, had I driven through the drive through and had not been there to witness this ethical behavior, would the result still have been the same. I also ordered a milkshake, cookie dough to be exact. While I am thirty minutes away from the restaurant I have yet to be able to suck an ounce through the straw. The presentation was delightful. The precious soul of a man who handed it to me was happy, I felt as if I were in Chick Filet. To him I grant my appreciation for his smile and service... but what the hell did you make this out of? Is that why you are so happy? As I end my review, I rate this restaurant B+ worthy. Still wondering if I might someday know what my milkshake tastes like. Will the sweet taste of cookie dough ever enter my lips? read more

No one to wait on customers, they think a computer to take your order is enough. You have to wait for your order is called out that it's ready to get your drinks. Stake and Shake and Wendy's are my two favorite fast food places to eat in the country. The hamburgers are just simply the best there is in my opinion. Never had a bad visit til today. We've always went inside and ate. This go around we hit the drive thru, which was very disappointing. Extremely long wait, most of the food was cold, and the milkshakes that we had to wait on for so long weren't even filled all the way up. I would not recommend the drive thru, I would eat in if I ever go here again. read more

Stopped here on a road trip around noon (busiest time of the day). Every table was full so it took about 5 minutes for us to be seated. When seated, we were immediately given water and our drink order was taken. She came back within 3 minutes and took our food order. Food was delivered within 5 minutes. Pretty efficient team working during the lunch rush. Bathrooms were dirty/stinky- but again, being the lunch rush, I'm sure they didn't have time to clean after every flush. read more

We ordered two milkshakes to go and waited 24 minutes to receive them. Yes they were busy, but Saturday at 8:50 PM they should expect to be busy! The person before us waited with his little boy for 30 minutes to receive his one to-go milkshake. I should have asked for our money back at the point I learned he had waited 30 minutes. We gave them the benefit of the doubt. Once we received our two milkshakes and left both cups we slippery, slimy and sticky! My milkshake was not their normal consistency and I threw it away after about 1/3 I could not take it. My husband's slipped from his hands and went everywhere in our car! The worst product I have ever paid for! We will not be back. I will be asking for my wasted money back. I can't get my time back but I can learn a lesson to NEVER go back! What a shame they used to have good milkshakes!!! One more thing we watch a lot of the cooking line while sitting there waiting. The grill is disgusting! I do not think they clean it properly everyday. read more

First of all, we just came on and while waiting to have a seat, I just saw a waitress drinking someone's soda before serving it, DISGUSTING. Then we waited 10 minutes to order our drinks and food. 10 minutes for our drinks and 10 minutes for our food who didn't come all together. Surprise we got a milkshake that we didn't ask for but didn't got our ranch. Thank god the food was okay. I'm leaving now and I'm still waiting on my coke to be refill. Dear waitress if you are reading my little message, please, I beseech you to think about your actions or quit that job. Just to let you know, I'll never come back. read more

I would normally give this location at least a 4-star rating, but the service I just got in the drive-thru is a 2 start at best. Steak ’n Shake - Fast Food Near Me - Terre Haute, Indiana

I will never go back. When my friends and I walked into this establishment we had to stand and wait to be seated for 7 minutes. There were only 4 booths filled so they weren't busy. The staff would make eye contact with us and then walk away. After being seated we ordered milkshakes from our super sweet waiter and we sat and talked for a while. After about 40 minutes of waiting for our food we asked our waiter for our checks to pay for the drinks so that we could leave because it wasn't worth the wait. After we ask for the check we start hearing the wait staff yelling about us from the kitchen. Saying that they would come "beat all three of our asses" we payed for our drinks, then booked it out of there and we will never go back. read more

I've been to this particular Steak n Shake location 4 times now, without a single even average experience. The first time was drive-thru and just a chocolate shake and it took 15 minutes. The second time, it took almost 30 minutes to get our food. The third time they served us the wrong order. And tonight, we stood with 2 other groups of people for 15 minutes, waiting to be seated. Not only were NONE of the groups seated, none of us were even acknowledged with a "we'll be right with you" during that 15 minutes...they wouldn't even LOOK at any of us. They kept dodging the long way around the center bank of seating to avoid us. It was so odd. After the 15 minutes, my boyfriend and I walked out. Which really sucks, cuz I really wanted cheese fries and a shake! Of course, I'm sure I'll be back because I love it and its the only one around :o( My dad LOVES Steak n Shake and there isn't one near him, so when he comes to visit, we always go. Once he said to the server, "This has got to be the slowest Steak n Shake in captivity!" to which she replied, "Pretty much!" I mean come on. EDIT: So here's a good joke for you. I wrote the above review on my phone app. We went elsewhere for dinner that night. On our way home, I decided I REALLY wanted a shake, so we hit the same Steak n Shake drive-thru. I was asked to "please hold on a moment" with no one in front of me. 5 minutes later, they still had not taken my order, and I watched as we sat there while 3 employees left out the back exit to sit behind the dumpsters for a smoke break. Effing ridiculous. Now I really don't think I will ever go back. I even wrote Steak n Shake an email, which I never do! read more

Yes it's a chain restaurant but it might be the cheapest chain restaurant in the history of chains. It was only $12 for two burgers fries and a shake. Service was terrible but the burger was pretty good. The peanut butter shake was excellent. The place was absolutely packed at noon on a Wednesday which was quite surprising. This place will remind you of Denny's and Johnny Rockets though. It's on par with those restaurants. read more

They are slow as fuck. Helen Keller could easily read the entire English Dictionary before I get my damn food.

I am a fan of Steak n Shake. There hamburgers are better than average. I would recommend the chili 3way, It is very good. The shakes are good and they have good sweet tea. I'm not a big fan of there French fries. The service is good, its clean and the prices are good. read more

We went here for the first time while in Terre Haute. Staying at the Drury Hotel. At 11 p.m. the pace was filled - including a family with five children under 7 years old and a damn baby . At 11pm at night !! At least put your kids to bed by nine. LOL . So we sat to eat at the counter . The counter girl was great. We ordered a burger and a chicken sandwich. Bathrooms were gross. Floor and counter sticky . And the chef was clearly overwhelmed !! He came over and tossed a full bag of food onto the counter in front of us. We stared at it wondering what it was. We thought we were going to eat at the counter . With no employees in sight , we opened the bag - and it was our food. Guess we are taking it to go. Burger tasted salty and greasy ( yum) Fries were cold __ my tummy hurts--- read more

I am a usual fan of steak and shake. But today I entered one and had the worst customer service. We walked in and waited for awhile to be seated, keep in mind we were the only ones waiting. Then the hostess came up and said, "follow me" then just threw our menus on the table and walked away in a very rude manor. Then we continued to sit there and wait on the rude staff to assist us. Nope nothing for 15+ minutes. During our time waiting we watched the same lady who seated us play on her phone at the bar and multiple other employees goof around. After we finally got waited on the food was decent and our waitress was great. I informed the manager about her employee behavior while we were checking out. She didn't seem to think it was relevant being that "they don't have a hostess." read more

Would give a zero except our waitress was friendly and efficient! This place is disgustingly filthy! Entrance area is unswept and littered! This is a typical Steak 'n Shake location with the same type of food that you get at all the other locations everywhere. Against my better judgment, I was convinced to go here and was sorry that I did. The service was okay, but not really great; it's fast food, so don't expect exceptional service. It was a little slow but ok There is no middle ground; either you love it, or you hate it. I am of the ladder party because their food is so damn greasy; it always makes me sick. I won't elaborate on that. The food at this location did the same thing. I was in the ... I won't elaborate. If you love their food, knock yourself out. If you hate their food, avoid it. read more

I stopped at this Steak and Shake during my road trip from Fort Riley, KS to Fort Meade, MD. The meal was great and the restaurant was clean and comfortable. Not only did I have a good meal but as I went to the counter to pay for my meal, the manager told me not to worry about it he took care of it. I don't like accepting free meals just because I'm in the military so I told him he didn't have to do that but I appreciated the gesture anyway. He said he knew he didn't have to do it but he wanted to and he was insistent. I was not even in my uniform but he still recognized I was a service member and made a very touching gesture. It makes me feel good to know that not all business is cold and unfeeling, and that people still recognize that it is not always about money but about people. I don't know that managers name but if you read this, thanks again, you are an example and you deserve recognition. read more

The service was terrible. We waited 5 minutes to get greeted (which is fine, perhaps she was busy) but the server gave a very audible sigh when we told her we could place both the drink (waters and shakes) and food order. She took a whopping 10 minutes just to bring out waters. It took another 35 minutes to get our food (still no shakes) and yet the bun was hard and stale and the fries were cold. She never once checked on us or offered to refill our waters (which were obviously empty when she delivered the food). We didn't get our shakes until we were ready to leave, which weren't even made correctly and were more like sundaes. I am a server myself and this is the only time I have not tipped a server. read more
