Wait time for shakes is ridiculous. Kind of disappointed. I guess this is a recurring instance because all the reviews say it!! The cashier here was ringing up and making shakes so the burgers came out quick, but the shakes took 10-15 minutes longer. We probably ended up waiting 30-40 minutes total, so don't count on this to be "fast food". As for the burgers - we got a jalapeno crunch and the melt. I really like the heat on the jalapeno burger but it was average otherwise. THE MELT, in the other hand....wowww!!buttery grilled sourdough bread, tangy sauce - no ketchup required here!! Definitely will be back for the Frisco Melt. The menu also has thin crispy fries ( don't skip these! ) hotdogs or chili with lots of unique toppings. If you like sliders you can get a good variety from the regular burger menu and it's only $0.99! It's all things meat!! Yum! read more

I understand times are hard right now but come on People!! So we pulled in drive thru around 1115-1120 pm. April 1 2022. A guy came over the speaker and told me that it would be a few minutes before they could take my order. I told him ok. I sat there for about 10-15 min and was totally fine with that because they were very busy. At about 1130. A very rude Lady came over the speaker and told me that they closed, I told her that I have been waiting in line already for about 15 min. She said " Well I am sorry but we are busy and short staffed and we are closed" I started to pull away and she said " There are other places to eat" I am still in shock over how rude she was and according to the reviews she is probably the one that everyone says is so rude! Simply put, this particular Steak N Shake location has never earned my business on any occasion. We have never had this issue with any other Steak N Shake...and we have frequented many throughout this state and others. The final nail in this location's coffin came when my wife and I waited for 15 minutes to be seated in a nearly empty restaurant. When we were finally given a seat, we took the usual five minutes or so to decide what we wanted only to be obviously ignored by each and every server in the place. A total of twenty more minutes had gone by and the waiters were still nowhere to be seen. After waving my menu in the air like a groupie at a rock concert, we decided to walk out. I went the other night at 2am. I sat in line. Only car. For 20 mins. Once I get to the window and get my food and leave (note: I only live two miles behind Steak 'n Shake). I don't go to Steak N Shake regularly but once in a while I will want a shake and some food. I go today on my lunch (12:45 pm), sit in line for a total of 24 minutes. Pull up to the sign and the cashier says "order when ready". SO I start to order my food. She interrupts me and says oh hold on just a minute. 3 minutes later she goes okay order when ready. Again i start my order, cashier then goes you want a #23? (I wanted a #21 add ketchup with fries and a small vanilla milkshake) Once she finally got the correct order she says, "give me one moment and i will have your total"....literally 4 minutes later! I say okay do i need to pull up to the window? Cashier goes Oh i forgot, the total is $8.53 SHE FORGOT I was sitting in line!!? wow Pull up to the window and give her the $20.53 she said its $8.55 I gave her 2 more cents..she gives my change and said oh it was $8.53. i am going to start getting my shakes from someplace else read more

My expectations when going to a steak 'n shake are pretty low to begin with: cheap food, served quickly and accurately. While I have visited this particular Steak 'n Shake in the past the terrible experience I had recently has prompted me to share what happened. We arrived at a slow time of day, around 3 pm on a weekday. In spite of this we waited alone for ten minutes before being greeted and sat at a table. Then it was another 15 minutes for a waitress to take our drink order. She even said, "You guys have been here a while, do you know what you want?" So we went ahead and ordered our food along with our drinks. It was another 20 minutes before our drinks and first courses (cups of chili, which are surely not made to order) arrived. Then another 15 minutes for our burgers to arrive. I wish I had taken a picture of the comically small hamburger patty I got. Thinking back it's funny but at the time I was very hungry so it didn't seem funny at the time. It was dwarfed by the bun. I had so much bread I could have had another sandwich. Also, they got the order wrong. When I pointed it out I said it was alright and just to adjust the bill so I didn't get the upcharge. Instead they brought the other side out halfway through my meal. So not only did they get my order wrong but they didn't fix it the way I requested. During the actual meal the staff got in a yelling match at the waitress station so that was at least entertaining but I can't say it added to the experience. Upon leaving my wife said she had heard bad things about this place. I wish she had told me that before we stopped in. Maybe this review will help a few people give this place a pass. read more

The food is the same as at the other Steak n Shakes I've been to--pretty good for the price. BUT this Steak n Shake takes forever to get to you, drive-thru included. I don't think I've ever been at the drive thru window (as in JUST at the window, not counting any time spent in line) for less than maybe seven or eight minutes here. The worst service I have ever had in my 35 year life today. Our waitress (Shell) was the worst. I took 7 family members that came to MARION to visit me here. I told them the food is great and the service is fast. When we got there and ordered there was no customers at all. We ordered our food and waited almost an hour. On top of that our orders where all wrong. I did start getting packed after a while. After almost an hour waiting for our food it was cold. It must of been ready and Our waitress (Shell) never went to check on our order. She never even once came to see if my family needed refills. Which we did... after a while people started complaining to (Shell) that their orders that they just received were all wrong. The whole restaurant after a while just stopped working. They didn't know how to handle (Shell) mess ups. There was no manager there it take control of the situations that kept happening. We also ordered food to go!! I had 3 kids that ordered off of the kids eat free on weekend menu wasn't free. When I asked about that they said (Shell) put the orders wrong and didn't have a manager/ manager card there to fix it. SMH!! This started happening to other customers and it was starting to look like a mob inside.. After 30 mins of them figuring out what to do. The cook said the manager that he was on the phone with said to shut down the restaurant and to not serve anymore customers. WOW!!! After that I noticed I never received 2 meals that I ordered to go... Another waitress felt bad and said hey since the cook didn't make it and is nowhere to be found I will make it. I kindly told her don't worry about the 2 meals. Just fix my check so we can go... Morel to this story don't ever go here at all or again . I understand equal opportunity employment. BUT damn. They damn near all looked like drug addicts and where so slow... Never again!!! Everybody needs to be fired and there needs to be a hiring event for this restaurant. I would also fire the manager for leaving this restaurant in shambles and for having people there that are not problem solvers taking care of the place, that are actually the PROBLEM... Okay first of all, this Steak N Shake has been around for quite sometime. My brother use to work in high school back some 15 years ago, and it pretty much hasn't changed, except the prices are cheaper! :) Also happens to be the first place my husband and I had a date in high school. Cheap, unhealthy burgers, shakes, and fries...ya know the stuff 'Murica is made of! But who am I kidding....I still love it! We like the food but as for service I have NEVER had such bad service, Even when it is empty it take forever to get served. NEVER order a shake, you will be lucky if you ever get it, you must remind them over and over. The do not usually get the order correct and when you look at the receipt it is never entered in correctly. So service is so bad we just quite going. read more

We ordered 8 double steakburger from 4 meals under $4 (7 cheese, 1 no cheese ketchup, mustard, pickle) and didn't receive half of our food. Our hamburger with no cheese still had cheese on it because they just took it off. We got less than 1/2 of our fries and none of the cookies that come with it. read more

Why no rating here? I had the Frisco Melt with triple Bacon, and a bowl of chili. Melt was very tasty and satisfying. Good steak flavor and texture. The chili was rich and flavorful (suggest applying some of their pepper sauce for even more flavor and a pleasant kick!) Service with a smile. Dining room was spotless. Horrible service. Went through drive thru this morning. Ordered a BACON egg and cheese bagel and a breakfast taco with eggs, cheese and sausage. I wanted 17 mins for my order. Once I received my bag I told the employee I wanted my money back and to speak with the manager. I waited another 4 minutes for the manager Brittany to come to the drive thru window. When she came to the window there was no apology no sorry for your wait nothing. She hands me a receipt and says have a good day. I then had to yell HELLO because she closed the windows and walked away before I could say anything to her. When she turned around I told her I was confused with the receipt and wanted to make sure she put it on my card. She was sarcastic and snappy with me while she only said what it said on the receipt ( wow huge help). I then proceeded to tell her it's not okay to have customers wait that long in the drive thru ( this was at 6:30am I was the only car in drive thru and only 3 cars were in the parking lot so they were NOT busy) I also told her it was rude that 2 employees told her I was waiting and needed her and all she said was well I was in the freezer... oh to top it all off i was late to work because of the slow, rude and horrible service and when I went to eat my sandwich IT WASNT EVEN WHAT I ORDERED! The manager brittany shouldn't be a manager her customer service skills need a boost because I WILL NOT return to that location what so ever. Only bright side is I got my money back for the food that I didn't even eat! Over due review...but I come here somewhat often with my boyfriend, mostly just because they're inexpensive and they're one of the better fast food/sit in restaurants. But many times we have went through the drive through, we have waited... and waited... and waited. And nothing. Not a voice saying "it'll be just one moment" literally, nothing. We have encountered this a couple of times and for some reason still come back here. Anyway, the inside service is not consistent whatsoever. Some days we will be waited on, hand and foot. Other days, we won't even get a refill on our drinks and often have to wave the waitress/waiter over to get the check. Food is consistent with Steak & Shakes everywhere- hopefully steak & steaks everywhere don't have this kind of crap service. read more

First and foremost I am a huge Steak 'n Shake fan. So, I have them the one star for the simple fact that their food is tasty. The customer service is terrible. They treat you like an inconvenience because you expect your food... fast. I usually visit on my lunch break, which the time varies and for the most part no one is in the drive through and very few dining in. At the drive through they'll tell you to "wait while I calculate your total" and it takes them 30+ seconds to calculate my total with no one in front of me? I think not. I don't wait anymore. I pull around. Once before an older woman was at the window, dressed in casual clothes. I told her I needed to grab change from my console and she mumbles under her breath when I turned my back "God, hurry up lady" ... I asked her to repeat herself and immediately she says "I'm sorry, I wasn't talking to you. I was talking to her" there was no one near her at the moment. They're rude. I've always thought of Steak 'n Shakes to be a place you go for some "okay" food in the middle of the night when you're hungry and your options are low. For once I decided to go during a normal dinner hour and was pleasantly surprised to see how many people were actually at the restaurant. A friend and I went and were immediately seated by a seemingly shy, but nice host. Our server wasn't able to get our drink order immediately but let us know she'd be right with us which I greatly appreciated. I'd rather know she's a little busy but will be right with us than feel like we haven't been noticed. Anyways, drinks came and food was ordered. All was well. For a $4 burger & fry it sure was good! Of course we both had to overdue it and cram a shake also. Both of us were quite happy with our shake choices and finished those completely also. All in all, great experience! Good food! Went to my local Steak n Shake in Marion, IN today, to get my birthday shake. I also ordered the Prime steak burger FRISCO sandwich. The service was pretty fast, as I was the only person ordering to go. I got my food home and realized they gave me the wrong bun for the $8.00+ sandwich. I took a bite before realizing this, and was just going to eat it(although I was disappointed). My son persuaded me to call, to let them know there was an error. I was instantly treated like some yahoo trying to get free food for nothing or something, by the manager, no less. Even after admitting HE made my sandwich,realized the error, he let me know that they didn't have time to deal with this stuff on the phone, and that it was just bread, after all. WOW! I could NOT believe this was coming out of his mouth. What a BAD way to do business!! Needless to say, my appetite was ruined after this, and I threw out all the food (except for the milkshake...it was great! I strongly urge Steak n Shake to address this kind of issue, or risk losing many a GOOD customer over a person with poor communication and managerial skills. For anyone reading this...drive on by Steak n Shake, and go to Hardees or Texas Roadhouse, and get treated right. We have been to several restaurants over the last few months and none have met our expectations. Whether we go in the restaurant and sit down or are in the drive-thru, we always have a long wait! Sometimes we are in Noblesville, Fort Wayne, Marion, or Goshen....and it is always slow and hard to get your food. We also have noticed that the chocolate milk shakes are always with no flavor of chocolate at all. We will never stop at any of your restaurants again as service and food is not satisfactory. read more

We've had trouble with this location for years now. Occasionally, we try it again to see if something has changed. Nothing has. We will go to other Steak 'n Shake locations but the Marion one is terrible. The service is epic slow. A wait of 45 minutes to an hour is not unusual. The food that should be hot is tepid. The food that should be cold is warm. Our visit yesterday was terrible. While the service was a little faster, the food was bad. Our french fries were stale. Our burgers were greasy and only slightly warm. The chocolate shakes were so badly mixed we could see the vanilla swirls with the chocolate. The bottom 1/3 of the shakes were vanilla. In the past, complaints to corporate produce nothing but a complimentary coupon, occasionally. That is not good enough for us to patronize this place again. The latest outrage yesterday was an elementary computational error that even the manager refused to acknowledge without an extensive discussion on basic math. ("2 for $4.99 each" coupon plus 7% tax is easily $10.68). It's not rocket science. read more

Great food, could not get waited on though, even though, one employee was happy all five waiters were there, thank God, for the black cook, he's the best, he stepped up and took my order from start to finish, even got my coffee for me, didn't get any water served though,or silverware , again the cook stepped up and got it for me at the bar,I like to sit there, I feel comfortable there scince the fifties..I even got a baby carrier place on bar besides me, though I thought it was unsanitary I dealt with it, it must be condone scince no one said anything about it, they did say the breakfast times were changing,they talked about the drunks were going to be upset at 3:00 in the morning soon, thank God I am not a drunk, as they laugh, I was thinking about how the share holders would have loved to be sitting with me,to be honest they need to tell them, where there pay checks are coming from, I did tip, thanks for reading,pretty baby! read more
