This location is very clean and very organized compared to other locations (N. Druid Hills) Employees were polite. I ordered at the kiosk. My food was ready within a few minutes. Pay close attention to the drive thru and inside business before you order. Most of the car in the parking lot is going over to LongHorn. I've email corporate and no reply, the manager Doug, who has deep rooted issues, is still treating customer like $&$t is still employed. This is the first business in a City I've lived in for over 30 years I wish would go out of business! If the employees, management and corporate don't care, they should be out of business. We don't have any Steak 'n Shakes back home in Hawaii, so I've always wanted to try one. I used to see them occasionally when I lived in Chicago, but never got around to going. Tonight we decided to stop by just for some dessert on the way home. The drive thru was still open for regular late hours, despite the coronavirus putting many things to a halt. We had a really nice and friendly worker taking our order. Sadly, he informed us that even though it is still showing on the menu board, they will not be serving red velvet shakes again until February. We were originally going to try the red velvet Oreo shake which sounded good. Instead, we opted for a Reese's peanut butter chocolate shake. It was nice and rich and smooth. Good blend of chocolate and peanut butter. It tasted like they used real whipped cream too. My fiance also ordered a Coke which was huge for a large! I saw a lot of good deals on the menu, and I like that they have a mushroom Swiss burger - one of my favorites. Apparently, there's an AMC nearby too, so I'd definitely come back to this location to try more items and check out the area further. read more

We haven't been here for a while and I remember it being a great place. This place has changed a lot! First off, there are no waiters or servers any longer. Second, the place was filthy. The tables, counters, and floor, all nasty and sticky. I cleaned my own table with the hand sanitizer. We took a chance and ordered some burgers. The food looked good and it tasted okay. The prices have NOT gone up like other restaurants. So I guess that explains that.. i'm sure they had to cut back somewhere to keep the prices low. I ordered for pick up at this location and arrived within five minutes of when I was notified that it was ready. It was all a disaster. (Before I get into this, I should state that I'm someone that doesn't really complain at all; I don't like confrontation, nor do I like being "that" person, but I had too). For one, the fries were literally cold and stale. Not a sign of warmth. Secondly, one of the steakburgers we ordered had no toppings at all, despite instructions specifically detailing the toppings that we had asked for. Thirdly, one of the milkshakes we asked for was strawberry, and we were given peanut butter. Imagine they had given that to someone who had an allergy. For the next two weeks, we attempted to call both the restaurant and Steak 'n Shake customer service, and both literally would not pick up. I'm not even joking when I say that we would call almost every day at various times throughout the day, and no one would pick up. 12PM, 2PM, 5PM, you name it. I have a lot of patience, but after those two weeks I thought it was enough and I headed back to the restaurant to confront them. It was very poor. To begin, the manager basically kept blaming it all on me. Why were the fries cold and stale? According to him, we took too long to pick up the order, even though we came within five minutes of when we were notified that it was ready. Why did one of our steakburgers have no toppings? According to him, all steakburgers have no toppings as a standard, unless we request toppings, which we did and we showed him on the receipt, but he basically just shrugged it off and avoided it. As for the incorrect milkshake, there was nothing he could really say other than apologize for giving us the wrong flavor. Why weren't they answering their phone for the past two weeks? Again, all he could say was "sorry", but that was it. That "sorry" sounded pretty forced too. The manager then kept insisting I show a receipt for a refund or to have my food remade, because he wanted to see the confirmation number. So I showed him the e-receipt I received in the email with the confirmation number, but of course, he denied it and requested the paper receipt. Now honestly, did he really think we would still have that after two weeks? That's what I told him, and he just shrugged and kept insisting I show a receipt. Now as someone that used to work in fast food, I know for a fact that he did not need that receipt. There's no barcode on it, there's nothing to scan, just the name, date, time, items I ordered, and confirmation number, all of which was in the e-receipt. Not sure why he kept denying. It's a franchise, I know how it works. I then asked if there was anyone else I could talk to, and he kept directing me to Steak 'n Shake customer service, who literally would not pick up the phone, and I told him this, but he kept insisting to call customer service and to "keep trying". I didn't back down, and he eventually gave me the contact card of the franchise owner. At the end, he did offer me a complementary combo, since he couldn't remake my food or offer a refund. I accepted, and funny enough, the steakburger came with toppings... even though he had just told me that all steakburgers came with no toppings, as standard. On top of this he gave me a milkshake, with a flavor I didn't even ask for. In fact, I wasn't even asked to choose what flavor. I brought this to his attention, and he just grabbed the milkshake and threw it in the trash and said "thank you" as he walked away. Now, I'm not sure why he walked away, since I was about to tell him the flavor I wanted. Five minutes past and he was not coming out from the back. Then a new customer walked in, which forced him to come back out in order to get to the customer. When he came out and saw me, he very angrily said "now what do you need?" in which we then resolved the milkshake situation. It truly sucks because I used to come here a lot with my friends, but after this experience I don't want to go back. read more

I started to go to steak and shake just to get my pumpkin spice shake ( during the season) . They have the buy one get 2nd half off frim 2 to 5pm.I always used the drive thru. One day me and my family felt like eating burgers so we decided to go there. It was a good decision! The service was great. Our server was really nice. The prices are really good. Right now they have a special menu of 2 items (burgers or fries) for $3. They food was good. I'm not a big fan of fast food, but everything was fresh and yummy. At this location, I cannot think of a bad customer service experience; however, the food does take a while to be served. They have multiple shake options as well & are very inexpensive. It really isn't that busy when we went and we were seated in seconds, we were given menus but we've been here before so we already knew what we wanted. Our server never came to even ask what we wanted to drink, after 15 minutes so we called the girl who sat us and told her we were ready to order and she said she'll get our server, our "server" instead got up and sat another customer and took their order and ignored us. Then we called someone else to help us, we even asked for the manager and never got them. Eventually someone came who wasn't even assigned to our table came to help, i believe his name is Kaiden, that's what it said on the receipt, i hope it is because he wasn't in the best friendliest attitude but he was attentive and we appreciate that. We are upset with the other server who never even came to our table. This place always takes long to serve. One time we legit waited an hour til we got our food. And the service is always bad. I think Steak 'n Shake is typically a 2-3 star experience no matter where you go - but I just can't help but keep coming back. If you are trying to eat in, expect long waits and sub-par service. Going through the drive-thru is always a better experience. This last time I went through the drive-thru, however, i had a sub-par experience all around. The drive-thru operator did not seem to know what she was doing nor understand what I was saying. Moreover, it seems like there isn't much communication going on between the drive-thru folks and those fulfilling the orders. I finally got the order right on the screen but when I got home, it was filled with all the things the drive-thru operator had initially confused my order for. Our mac and cheese was a grilled cheese (we had to make our kids some mac and cheese at home because that's all that they wanted) Our mini burgers became a junior burger No onions became lots and lots of onions. But, for some reason, I can never get mad at Steak 'n Shake. I feel like I have just come to accept and expect it. It's my fault for choosing Steak 'n Shake. I've been a big fan of steak n shake all my life but this particular one has management issues and it shows. Half of the time, service is unreasonably slow even when it's not packed with customers. Also, I have to say, 3 out of 4 times, they keep forgetting to add lettuce and tomato to my Frisco Melt! Seriously, I want operations to go as smooth as possible, but these employees require more training as well as lessons on the importance of 'attention-to-detail'! I held off on giving Steak n Shake a poor review for quite some time now, but after they messed up my order again, It'd be wrong not to. Especially when I see absolutely no change in the Performance and Speed of its service. (Quality of the waitresses/waiters are average to above average) I uploaded a picture of my Frisco Melt and the receipt. It's clearly labeled, yet someone is not doing their job. And I blame the leadership for allowing this to happen. It shouldn't be the employees fault for these mistakes. Being a leader, is like being a parent. You teach your young to do the right thing and do them well. Without that guidance, these mistakes will repeat themselves due to the lack of pressure to better themselves. 2 out of 5 Stars. My overall experience has been poor thanks to the incredibly long wait times and countless incorrect orders. Steak n shake's good food saved it from being a 1 star. Phew!! I drove up to the speaker in the drive through at 10:45 PM and was prepared to order. I sat there for a minute or two waiting for someone to say something and was met with silence, so I decided to say hello a few times and got no answer. After saying hello for a good 5 minutes, I pulled up to the window to see if anyone was there that I could order with. Once I got to the window, there were two employees inside that I could see, i made eye contact with one employee and he went right back to what he was doing, so I lightly tapped on the window to get the other employees attention and he came to the window. He told me they closed early. There was not a sign posted anywhere stating they were closing early. I was told they would be opening an hour early in the morning, but that does nothing for me. I will be at work when they open in the morning even if it is an hour early. There was no apology for the inconvenience, or acknowledgment that no signs were posted stating that this location would be closing early, which was very frustrating. read more

This place always seems packed and super slow but the staff has always been so so nice and helpful. It is a go to spot for late nights with friends or when on a budget. So last night i went through the drive through to get a Chicken Tender meal of 5 and when i drove home i had only 3 in my bag and no sauce, so i drove back up there to either get my money back or my chicken tenders and sauce. I'm never a karen but being on a low income and having my total being $9.52 i wanted my full order and everyone should know chicken takes a minute to cook and when i get there tell them my issue they tell me we will give you 5 new ones i said aww thank you and with my sauce and went home,i then start to eat not really thinking about it and noticed my breading on my chicken was falling off way to easy but still kept eating and now 10 hours later i woke up this morning at 9am to me almost puking on my bed , i woke up with cold chills and poring sweat and puking in my trash can.
