Steak'n Shake didn't advertised hours of operation with signs during COVID near me. You need to check with your local restaurant to find out hours. The one in Grove City is drive thru only until midnight. Lobby is closed and lights are off in lobby which makes it appear closed but drive thru is open and curbside pickup available. They prefer contactless payment if possible. They offer some new combo items. I bought the $4 double steak burger and shake. The shake is very small, chocolate and vanilla flavors only I think. Steak burger is regular size, cooked well as always. I love the steakburgers. Staff is friendly and answered my questions. Still one of my favorite burger restaurants. read more

Went to Steak and Shake tonight for some fries and a couple of milkshakes. When I ordered I was told they were not making milkshakes. I ordered fries and two cokes. Called again and asked the same thing and the same thing happened, hung up on. Asked my friend to call and she said she hung up because they're just not answering the phone. She said they're super busy and have a new hire and that's why they don't have milkshakes. This place never has milkshakes past 8pm. It makes no sense. Just call it steak at this point. Great burgers and shakes mostly good service. Prices are very reasonable. Would go again but not at this location . Bathrooms were dirty and no paper towels. I told one of the servers and she said no one cleans them and there are never paper towels. read more

I was here at 11 right before close however the worker Dustyn who took our order was THE most friendly passionate, caring and enthusiastic person I have ever encountered going through any fast food drive through. He sounded excited to be taking our order and at 11 at night it was a great feeling to have someone who was invested in my well being. Although I only had about a 2 minute encounter with Dustyn he managed to put a smile on my face and brighten my day. Excellent work by an excellent man, absolute class! I have been coming to this Steak N Shake for almost ten years since my sister lives in Grove City and now has 4 little kiddoes all under the age of ten. For whatever reason (probably the shakes), my nieces and nephews love coming here, so anytime Auntie wants to get dinner with them on a Saturday night, this is often where they choose. I don't think my sister minds either since kids eat free with the purchase of an adult entree (2 kids meals per 1 adult entree). I've had good visits here and bad visits. For the most part, we always get seated relatively quickly. I don't ever remember waiting more than 10 mins for a table. The biggest thing we've had issues with in the past though is the service. I remember one time we got seated and I was practically begging my sister to leave because I was starving and we had been seated almost 20 mins with no one coming to our table. However, on the flip side, our most recent visit was pleasant. We got seated right away and our server was nice and friendly. We had no issues at all with the pace of the service or items coming out. I usually always get a double steakburger and a large fry. The food here typically never disappoints and I've never had issues with the taste or temperature of the food (however, sometimes shakes take quite awhile to come out). All told, I will continue to go here with my sister and the kids as much as they want. I think the key is to ensure you're not starving when you go in since they can take awhile at times. However, if the service continues to be what it was on our most recent visit, I would consider shifting this to a 4-star rating. read more

I normally enjoy steak and shake and their food, but this visit not so much. The food was tasty - let me specify that - but the service is apparently now almost completely self serve. The only thing you don't do is cook your own meals. You place all orders in a kiosk and pay for them there too, get your own drinks, and bus your own table. Someone brings the order to the counter and calls your name but doesn't stick around to make sure the right person picks it up, so just anyone could run up and grab your tray. The kiosk doesn't give a receipt so .... it would be a nightmare. I ordered the bacon double combo and my husband got the garlic burger combo. Mine was tasty and well seasoned. Husbands burger had the garlic butter on top of the bun? Not toasted with the butter on the inside? Therefore he got garlic butter all over his hands with every bite. Burgers seem smaller than I remember but hello shrinkflation. Restaurants complain they don't have customers but perhaps they should look closer at why. read more

I went to this establishment this morning for lunch around 11am with the idea of going in and it being a quick meal. Our wait to be seated was not too bad as it was still early in the day. Our waitress was good. But she was the only one on the floor and as such I cannot fault her for the fact that we only got one refill. I did have a manager get me a refill though. The food was not bad for what we paid for it. The one thing though is that they need to staff their shifts better. Again this is not a reflection upon the waitress as she had 8 to 10 tables to look after. But this is not the only time we have had issues at this location. read more

My first visit to a Steak 'n Shake was a pleasant surprise. I did not realize they offered table service. I thought they were similar to gourmet burger chains in my area such as Smashburger or BurgerFi where you ordered at the counter and the food was delivered. My second surprise was that a meal similar to what I would get at one of the previously mentioned chains was about 25% cheaper, and of similar quality. It could possibly be the quality and source of the ingredients (BurgerFi, for example, does tout the quality of its beef). The steaks - or rather, the burgers - are of a decent variety, most with toppings, sauces, and cheese - make that American Cheese (or is it processed cheese food? I don't know). For that reason alone, I ordered the Guacamole burger because it came with Monterey Jack cheese. But the other person at my table ordered a different burger and asked for Swiss cheese, and he got it without an extra charge, so I assume that means free substitution even if not mentioned. The shakes - we ordered vanilla and banana. These were thick and tasty, though the banana shake clearly had some assistance from the natural and artificial flavor folks in New Jersey. The taste was reminiscent of Jell-o banana pudding. My vanilla shake had the flavor of vanilla beans, and I will rationalize that that flavor was due to actual vanilla beans and not New Jersey assistance. The fries, matchstick, were crisp, very slightly greasy, but otherwise good. It took quite a while for our meals to arrive. The restaurant was constantly full with a handful of people waiting for tables. But we had one of those firecracker, wise-cracking, waitresses who enjoyed chatting it up with her customers while delivering superb service, and that made the wait not so bad. I have no clue whether any Steak 'n Shakes will open in upstate New York. They'd certainly make the burger competition in the area even more interesting. read more

I have a co-worker who would eat at Steak N Shake for breakfast lunch and dinner if he lived near one. He raves about it so much, and makes a point to go straight to one when he travels to a city that has them (once or twice has even driven 3 hours just for dinner), I finally had to break down and go see what the fuss was about. The bacon burger (I know I'm not calling it by the official name) was good, but nothing special. The fries were good. I really like skinny fries, and theirs are skinnier than McDonald's. There was so many Burger options and the prices were unbelievably low. I got a prime Burger with bacon fries on the side of coleslaw. There Cole slaw was out of this world. The wife got a regular bacon cheeseburger and she loved it. She upgraded her fries to chili fries and they were great. With everything our bill came to $18. It was a great Burger experience. Second bad experience in a row at the Grove City location. The first time there was no one at the cashier station for over 10 minutes. When someone finally came over and i mentioned how long i'd been waiting, she wanted to argue with me. This time, the waitress indicated she would wipe the tables down and never did. The food came out at all different times over the course of about 30 minutes, and several items never came out and were removed from the bill. It's a shame this location can't get its act together. I had plenty of time to take pictures because the staff members were outside smoking in their car, and I had to wait as I unsuccessfully tryed to wave them down. I've never seen a more disgusting kitchen in my life. I've worked in the food industry 12 years. They had trash and stale food EVERYWHERE! To add insult to injury, most the tables were not bussed.. full plates of old food on them. Melted milkshake on the candy machine, an old burger on the heating/ready to serve window. I've worked 500 cover nights and never came close to seeing a kitchen this appalling. And let alone in the public's plain view. First time trying steak n shake and i got the $4 meal deal with the double cheeseburger. I asked for ketchup on the burger and did not receive any, but the toppings were so fresh and delicious. I should really give it 2 stars because they took foreverrrr to pay for the food and receive it all. We asked for 3 orders of 2 mini burgers and only got 2 mini burgers. We also asked for extra frisco sauce and did not get any. Pretty disappointed with the service and the inconvenience seeing as it was not fast at all. My experience at this location was near perfect. I came in with Carol C. for a late lunch on a rainy Wednesday. We were greeted and seated right away in a cozy booth. Since it was wet outside we opted for coffee. Steak 'n Shake coffee is pretty good. The plan was to get cheeseburgers. We ordered the Royale: American cheese, bacon, fried egg, along with lettuce, tomato, and mayo. We also got the Bacon Horseradish burger: American, bacon, crunchy fried onions, and creamy horseradish mayo. This burger is on the $4 menu as a single, but they made it a double for me. The burgers came with fries, we also got a side salad, an order of onion rings, and a chocolate shake. Service was terrific. It could have been a training film for new Steak 'n Shake employees. I like the burgers, I like the crispy edges and the toasted buns. The fries and onion rings were hot and fresh. The shake, impossible to suck through a straw when it arrived, was perfectly melted by the time I finished eating. Fast food euphoria. This was my first time trying a Steak 'n Shake burger. It was delicious! This location deserves a better rating in my opinion. Four stars. read more

Gosh, every steak and shake I travel to seems to get worse and worse. First, we were ignored for nearly 15 minutes while we waited for a table. When we were finally seated the waitress was dismissive and seemed irritated when she spoke to us. She got our drink order and then took another almost 15 minutes to return. The restaurant was only about 1/3 of the way full so this seemed insaine to me the food was barely warm and we had to all but beg to pay they check. This was the worst part.
