This is the first self serve Steak n Shake I have visited. By that I mean you get your own drinks, buss your own table to have a place to sit. Clean up when you leave if you are nice so the next person doesn't have to do the same. Food was ok, but the line was out the door and they only had 5 people working the entire place due to Covid. Drive thru took one order at a time. There was a line out into the street from the order kiosk. No one between the kiosk and the window. They are literally serving one customer at a time. I waited five minutes at the kiosk before anyone took my order. Pulled up. No one but me at the window. Workers are crowded together working and not one mask in sight. The person working the order put her mask on only when opening the window to pass out food and it was below her nose. Two cars in front of us when we got there. Took 25 minutes from the time we pulled up until we left. By the time we pulled out we realized there were no straws in the bag for two drinks and two shakes and no napkins. read more

I've been here twice now with my family and as soon as we have walked in (both times) its the most unwelcome I've ever felt at a Steak N Shake. No "hello", servers walk by several times without acknowledging us, not even a "someone will be right with you"...just standing there feeling like we walked into the wrong house. I gave this location 5 stars for the food and service. Anna A. was our server and she's awesome! Food came out super fast and was excellent I got the Patty Melt and it was really good. Love their skinny fries! Had a Red Velvet Oreo Shake and it was fantastic! We usually get the Chocolate Covered Strawberry Shake because it has hot fudge on the top and is delicious, but we loved the Red Velvet too. When your out and about on thanksgiving, I was thankful this place was open! Our waitress was kind and quick. I loved my garlic burger slider, but the ketchup and mustard was put on a bit too much. We do not have a Steak 'n Shake near us, so when we go out of town we like to eat at them. The last one we went to in KY was horrible, but this Steak 'n Shake totally redeemed the restaurants for us! We had the best server! Cooper was his name and he was very attentive to all his tables. He remembered what each one of us was drinking and was quick to refill our drinks. Our food was brought out in a very timely manner and it was so good. We had such a great experience that we went back to eat here again before we left town. We were happy Cooper was working when we came again. They did not have enough servers, but that didn't slow Cooper down. He just kept working hard and serving everyone with a smile. Came here late at night and were promptly seated. Server was an Eastern-European/Slavic young woman - no issues with this - just seems to be a large amount of them working here. I don't like fast food , but my in laws do. We came here for breakfast. Shockingly it was cheap and good. My husbAnd got a scramble that had a biscuit gravy cheese hash browns for 5.99. My breakfast tacos were good for 99 cents each. The waitress was amazing. I was shocked someone so nice is serving at this establishment. Had to explain the add an additional side to my daughters kid meal 3x. The third time I had to show the waitress the menu and point to the words. My sandwich came out wrong twice. And I was charged over $10 for a grilled chicken and double fries. The manager argued that that's how you do that. Go on the app. It comes to 8 bucks. When I told the manager my order was wrong 2x. Poor service! I understand that Covid has everything jacked up and there is a whole new normal these day but this location has gone way, way down hill. First we asked for a table instead of a booth. That requested seemed to confuse the staff very much. At the time we saw 3 tables open. Again, I figured that due to Covid they were trying to figure out of to socially distanced us. NOPE, they sat us at a table/booth combo that right in the middle of 2 large groups, right beside both groups. It was fine because the whole socially distanced thing is goofy to us anyways but if we were going to sit tight by others, what was wrong with the other 3 tables open. Next comes the service. We sat, got our menus and poof, every wait staff seemed to disappear! There was 1 young lady that seemed to be waiting on all the tables. There was a man that only stalked the tables, drink his coffee, go in the back, come out, stalk the tables more and repeat. Like he was staring the customers down stalked, almost like trying to make them hurry up and leave. SIDE NOTE, we got there at 9:10, they close at 10pm. We never saw the lady that seated us, the young lady waiting on all the other tables never came by, the girl wondering around the front counter area never looked our way. NOTHING! Finally we just got up and left. No one even noticed. Poor, Poor service. I would not even give it a 1 star. Bring back the old Steak and Shake staff that welcomed you and cared if you were there and actually took your order! read more

This is the worst Steak'n Shake we have ever been to. Visiting from Chicago and thought it would be a safe choice. Boy were we wrong. The bacon was rubbery and undercooked. The fries were like wet noodles. We ate at the restaurant and placed an order to go. Asked for it to be made before we left and they brought it with the rest of our food and said they would keep it warm. It was disgusting by the time we got back to the hotel. Such a disappointment. I couldn't believe how they handled the situation of my visit a few weeks back. I went online to see who was open for a shake and it said that steak n shake was open 24/7. This was the other location in branson, so I went there, and they said they were closed and I should go to this one I'm putting a review on right now (503 W Hwy 76). So I came to this one, and they said they were closed as well. I was upset, but understood. I asked for a manager to tell them that there times online were messed up (because I'm also a restaurant manager and need to know those things). Instead, the cook jumped on me and told me I need to leave and that they've known about it for 6 months, raising his voice at me. Basically what he said is that he didn't give a rip, and also the 'manager' was standing right there but didn't say anything to correct it. I was trying to let them know because when you have something posting online for when you're open, it needs to be ACCURATE. That is STEAK N SHAKES RESPONSIBILITY. It's common sense for a business. I also contacted corporate and they did nothing to resolve the issue yet. I drove around for an hour because steak n shake had wrong times, and they could care less even though it was entirely there fault! They couldn't even give an apology or tell upper management about it. they just said they're closed and that I need to leave. I am a customer that's come in quite a bit with good size groups and now I would rather go anywhere else than this place, I've already convinced them to go to other places a couple times since. I will always recommend against this place because if management can't even handle this situation, what else are they doing for shortcuts in the kitchen with our food?? The advice I'd give to management is realize that you are wrong sometimes and take the chance to correct it instead of rudely tell at a customer to get out and that were not going to do anything about it. This could be the most affordable place to eat in Branson. It's a little slower than the typical fast food burger places but cheaper in price. The name is a little confusing but it's an old style burger and shake restaurant. My wife and I along with 3 kids ate for around $25 and the kids all had shakes! Tip: If you go on week days 2-5 it is half price on all shakes and drinks. read more

It was fun to watch them cook the patties -I love thin burgers, so I took that knowledge home with me.
