Their steak dog is actually very tasty although a bit overdone with the catsup and mustard. At $2.79 a bit high for a dog. Additionally they don't toast the buns or anything so good dog, bad everything else. They have a lot of new flavors including a decently spiced Cajun fries, but they weren't even home yet before they were ice cold as I was just exiting the parking lot take a couple of them and they were cool to the touch and clearly sitting out too long. One cool thing is the app you get to $2.99 free when you start the app plus a five dollar ad on when you spend 50 so you end up with a 10% savings card and you can still use all the coupons. The last thing I had was the mushroom Swiss Burger, and it was really nothing special. As for the service they were friendly courteous and handled a good pace. Hello, Its with great sadness that I post this. We have been coming to this location for the last 2-3 years and come about twice a week and always use the drive-thru. The food is normally hot and good, no complaint there. THE COMPLAINT is that the drive thru has been unattended/closed the last 4 times we have come thru. Once a sign on the speaker box and then just a voice that says come inside to order. We drove off all times and went to Sonic across the street. Both day time and evening, Once is ok but repeatedly, not so good. Today I finally asked for the manager, and drove up to the window. Her bad attitude and excuses of we are short handed and the owner said it was OK to close the drive-thru, made me ask for the owners number. She then without another word, closed the window, so we drove around to the front door and I went in. She handed me his number and turned away. Seeing the paper she gave me only had a first name on it, I then took a photo of the health permit located in the corner of the counter behind a game. I guess that's in plain site. When I looked back at her, she was taking a video of me, without my permission, I might add. Problem 1: Hire more staff, so as not to burn out what you have. If you are short handed than you the owner should be onsite to help out. Problem 2: Hire a new manager, one that is professional, friendly, etc. You can teach anybody to make a shake, burger, etc. But you cant teach someone to be friendly. Problem 3: Clean up the place. Both inside and out is below acceptable standards. Problem 4: If you don't want to take care of problem 1, 2 or 3 than you should sell your franchise. The burger was okay and the shake was very heavy. I came here for dinner tonight after work since I wanted something fast. When I walked in, you had to wait to be seated. A waitress came and sat me at a table next to some unoccupied kids. They were like messing around with each other and just climbing on the booths. I ordered the Bacon and Chesse Steak burger with a Kit Kat Shake. It took like a good 10-15 minutes to come out. The burger I thought was okay for the price, same for the fries. I usually don't drink shake so I wanted to try it. I thought it was okay, I didn't finish it but when I stood up I didn't feel so good. I think it was too heavy for me. I had to flag down another waitress to ask for the check since I didn't see our original waitress again. We explained that we never got our order. He did apologize. We went at 11:00 after a Rangers game. Only one waitress was working. There were about 10 tables of customers. For my birthday weekend, my friends took me out to Stake N shake and of course I had to try the spicy chicken sandwich! It tasted ok. A lot less spicy than I thought. The waitresses here are horrible! We were seated and no one and I mean NO ONE even asked if we had been helped already. 3 different waitresses walked by my table and saw that we had our menus out but no drinks. After 30 minutes of waiting without any attention from any waitress. We decided to leave and go elsewhere! Might I add that it was not busy at all. So went here the other day before Six Flags. And I guess maybe it's me, but I remember when Steak 'n Shake used real ice cream and milk to make a shake? Now it tastes like frozen yogurt or something... ugh. Just didn't taste good. And this has happened on more than one occasion. Anyway, the Frisco Melt is always a winner for me. The shoestring type fries are awesome, and it's just a really good fast food restaurant. But along with that, comes the price. You're going to be paying a bit more here than you would at Sonic or somewhere of the like. The service isn't great, but again, fast food. So it's a solid 3 stars. Two things. 1st. The simple chocolate malt I ordered has so little chocolate in it I can't tell is chocolate.....plus...it taste more like banana. I would've put more stars if the service was better. The food is always great when I come here. Every time I want a midnight snack - this is always my go to. I've never had a bad meal (or shake) the multiple times I've been here. However, one thing that never changes is the service. Always slow to seat. Always slow to pay (we waited at the counter for 5+ minutes while people looked at my boyfriend and I). As we were waiting, another person was waiting to be seated for the same amount of time. Food took a while to come out when we were the only ones there - mainly because servers were sitting at the bar-like table and talking. Which I don't mind, but I would also like to eat and leave. The most recent time I went, there was a very nice server who helped our table. I didn't catch her name but she apologized for the wait and made sure our drinks were always full. Very slow service and food was not right. The person taking our order seemed to have an attitude as if we were bothering her to do her job. I tried to ignore It as I had just left a great event, but this overall experience was just underwhelming. After placing our order, we pulled up to the window to pay and waited at least 5 minutes before we were even acknowledged. When she finally acknowledged us, she just put her hand out the window for the payment while still laughing with her co worker. No eye contact, no repeat of order or total or anything. When we got out food, the burgers were thrown together very sloppily and the fries were hot, but not cooked thoroughly. I ordered the garlic burger. It usually has a hint of garlic seasoning on the top bun. This time it was as if someone was pouring and the top came off (salt overload) My husband went inside and had them replace the fries. I probably should have had them replace my burger as well, but it was late and I honestly was over it. This is disappointing because I really love Steak and Shake. I observed all the servers seemingly doing a great job and it appeared they were fully staffed. However we noticed that some people that were there before us were served after we were. The food was just average, nothing at all memorable. I tried the prime burger and it was just a VERY thin burger on a bun with lettuce and tomatoes and pickles. NBD! My husband had a grilled cheese sandwich and again, nothing special. The VERY WORST part of this restaurant is the restroom. BUT We had to take everything to go and ended up eating in the car, because we sat for 20+ minutes in a not-so busy dining room waiting for our food. Two in our party of four ordered soup which were brought out after the 20 minutes. The soups were room temperature/cold. The server took them back to "microwave" them (don't tell your customers that), and we never saw the soups again. After spending a day at the world's largest waiting simulator, and potentially the best simulator for what may happen to food prices in the case of an actual hyperinflation in the United States, also known as Six Flags over Texas, I was hoping to find some solitude in a local fast food joint. Luckily for me, there was a Steak 'n Shake only half a mile from Six Flags! We walked in and were ignored for several minutes until one of the two waitresses on staff were ready and willing to seat us, 2 people, to one of the three clean tables they had available. Being so tired from a day of waiting and spending $50 on half a chicken strip, the initial wait seemed like nothing at first and I just wanted some good, cheap, fast food. The server asked for our drinks and we got them pretty reasonably fast, I'd say within 5 minutes. After finishing our drinks, our menus were still in front of us, as, no one came by to take our order. I'd say about 20-30 minutes had passed when a server came by, said "Let me grab these from you," took the menus and left... Despite the fact that we never put an order in. I figured at this point, okay, well, we're not getting food, let me just get a waitress to come over so we can get a check and leave. After another 20-30 minutes of not being able to grab anyone's attention, I got up, told the manager we're leaving and that I just want to pay for the soda we ordered. She asked me why we're leaving, to which I had to explain everything above to her, and then she asked who my server was. Hell if I know, I saw her maybe once and then she disappeared into the abyss forever. Also, there were only 2 servers working and maybe 3 tables with people ordering food; does it really matter who my server was? Apparently it was so she could "find my order". I told her 5 times we only ordered a root beer and that we just desperately want to leave this place. Thankfully she just let us go. I usually think reviewing fast food restaurants is kind of pointless; yeah, they're often going to be bad, they're often going to get your order wrong, what's the point of reviewing them? We still go here in spite of these things, so what's the point? The point is that this place, this specific location, goes above and beyond the expected level of awful that fast food restaurants are known for. You just wait, and wait, and then you can't even pay because you're stuck waiting for someone just to notice that you're a human being hoping to participate in exchanging money for extremely tolerable food. Not only that, but the place is filthy. There's barely anyone in the place yet no one has time to just move dirty dishes from a table to the back. It's all on display. This place is a complete, joke! I don't usually get annoyed w/ drive thru's, but this one, my goodness. I ordered a shake and small combo, it took 17 freaking minutes to get my food. That doesn't include the 5 minutes I spent, waiting for the girl to take my order. The vehicle in front of me, I swear, had a daycare thrown into her van. Shakes kept being given along w/ bags of food, then we had to wait again.When I finally drove up to the window, I had to wait another 6 minutes. What?! All of that time working with the lady in front of me, and you still didn't have my dang food ready? She should have been asked to drive forward so those w/ small orders, could get their food and take off. This is unacceptable, period!
