I was craving ice cream and I remembered this place sold some. And it was close. The service at this place has gone downhill! I walk up to the booth, employee looks at me and walks off. Grabs her phone. I stay standing at the counter. Still nothing. I ask if she can help me with ice cream order. She looks put out. She ask card or cash? Does that matter for me to order? She moved back and forth between two counters just looking around. Finally ask for my order. 2 scoops , on a cone, of strawberry and cookies and cream. So one cone of strawberry and one cookies and cream? No, one cone with both. Ok. So cup or cone? Both scoops on one cone. Ok, and what flavor? She was too preoccupied with her phone and her friend sitting at a table nearby. Finally get my cone. Good ice cream not overly frozen. Waffle cone was fresh. $2.48. Worth the cost? Yes. Avoid at all costs. It is disgustingly dirty in there. The burgers are no longer chargrilled, that is a lie. They are not fresh, they are frozen soy patties cooked when you order them. Nothing looked clean by the beverage dispenser. There was some odd bag of trash or something with old liquid in it. Oddly an old wheelchair was inside the bathroom hallway area and it was a bit dilapidated. Behind what used to be a bar area were coats and other miscellaneous stuff. My family and I really do enjoy coming here, and we still come even when they changed their burger patties to pressed patties with chargrill "flavor". My usual is the number 4 and have ventured off twice and I don't do that anymore. The onion rings, fries, and tater tots are crispy and good! If you're looking for a juicy burger, this ain't the place. The burgers aren't dry dry, but lean meat is the only way to explain it, and you won't find the messy drip you're seeking. My wife and I were both hungry for burgers for dinner. We were on Collins and Airways was right down the street from where we were. We both looked at each other and said "Yummmm" and headed to Airways. We decided to eat in the car so we ordered at the drive-thru. Here's a tip guys, you've got to have patience, Airways char-grills their 1/3-pound burgers to order. There is no pre-cooking. My wife likes the basics with no frills. She ordered an Airways hamburger combo with a chocolate shake. I ordered the Lucky Burger combo with a vanilla shake. The Lucky Burger is one of my favorites. It has 1000 Island dressing, chili, cheese, onions and Airways excellent Hickory Sauce. When I order it, I always add pickles. After an acceptable wait, around 5 minutes or so, at the pickup window, one of the friendly folks at Airways handed us our order and we were off to park so we could enjoy our delicious dinner. Airways was "smart" enough to include lots of extra napkins as well as plasticware since the Lucky Burger can be very messy to eat. I did end up eating my burger with a knife and fork instead of trying to pick it up and dribble chili, 1000 Island and Hickory sauce all over the front of my t-shirt. My wife didn't do much talking since she was enjoying her burger. My Lucky Burger was AWESOME. We decided next time to split an order of fries, there was ample for both of us in one regular order. A word of caution for pickup drivers. You'll barely make the turn in their drive thru. Ordered a single patty cheeseburger and I'm onion rings. Came out fairly quickly and looked good. Honestly, the onion rings gave them a boost from one to two . The one thing about non-chain burger places that I love is homemade patties. Not here. Round like a hockey puck. Cheap American food with some nice folk Charcoal burger is their speciality, and it shows good results. A different kinda burger than a normal grill cooked one. The price for my food was about average for the area. The patty melt was done very well, it did taste excellent. I had no notes to give. The chili cheese fries were a different story. They weren't bad per se they were just bland. It tasted as if the chili came from a can from the Walmart across the street. My recommendation would be at least to try and season the chili first and also ensure the cheese is properly melted. Actually, the burger and onion rings are delicious. Same size patty I make for myself on a grill, and cooked just a little beyond medium. Onion rings were outstanding, thick and not stringy. Perfectly fried. Veggies on the burger were good and they knew, as most humans do, not to put mayonnaise on a burger (although I imagine they might if you asked-- but why would you?).
