I hate leaving 1-2 star reviews. I do. The main reason for this is that they are horribly slow. Every time. No matter what time of day or day of week. They are also not 24/7 so that really needs to get updated. The only reason for 2 stars instead of one is that the food is hot so at least you know it's being made fresh. I know they are hiring- I always see the sign but seriously something needs to change because I keep trying to give them a chance every few months and there's been no improvement in the speed of service. read more

So I have been coming into the Acworth Steak 'n Shake on Cobb pkwy for almost 15 years. For the last 2 years I have occasionally had an e gift card that is tied to the cell phone. Ever since the stores have upgraded to kiosks for the customer to place the order. Using the e gift card has been a nightmare to say the least. For a time there were staff that understood that the kiosk pos (point of sale) system is not programmed to take the e gift card and must be rung up by an employee. I am on my 4th e gift card and today I go into the steak and shake on Cobb pkwy in Acworth, ga and I got o e of the young gals attention and asked her if she could ring up my order with my e gift card. She said she would and I met her up front. She got the attention of the manager to ask her to help her with the badge to unlock the pos so she could ring up my order. That is where everything went sideways. The manager then steps in and tells me to just go to the kiosk. I'm thinking oh boy here we go again. Another person who just does not realize that the kiosks are not programmed for some reason to take e gift cards. I said ma'am the kiosk doesn't take e gift cards it needs to be rung up here at this pos like I have done countless amounts of other times. She said the kiosk does work and said ma'am it doesn't or I would have done it already. Well it does she says again. I said ok fine please show me. She said she did not like my tone I could leave. I said ma'am I don't have a tone I'm just trying to get my order. I did say you do not know what you are talking about I have used an e gift card multiple times at this location and they always ring me up right here up front at this pos. She then said there is no way that has ever happened I am the one who set this place up. On a side note I had never seen this woman before so that comment really surprised me. At that point the situation got heated between us mostly because I was in shock that this person would be so obtuse. She asked me to leave. I said I haven't done anything wrong except wanting to use my e gift card to place my order and she couldn't/wouldn't accommodate me and out of embarrassment of not knowing what to do resorted to making me the customer the bad person here. It was disgusting and I am livid as to how I was treated at this location by her simple ignorance. She is supposed to be a manager. What has become of managers now a days. They used to be looked up to as people that new their job took care of the customer and certainly looked to diffuse situations rather than escalated them. Also, what is sad about Steak 'n Shake is if you would like to report an incident with the company you need to fill out a form and maybe someone will get back to you. However, do not could on it. Why do I say that because over a year ago I called the home office when there was a phone number to call that is and reported that the kiosks would not take an e gift card hoping that the report would get to the top and they would update the system to ad that capability to the kiosks so that this would not continue to be an issue. Sadly I knew something like this was going to happen. Unfortunately, since the police were called and I tried to explain my side it doesn't matter. The person hurt by this is me the customer who now has a $50.00 e gift card still with around $44.00 left over but can't go to the closest location to purchase food. Oh by the way I drove to the next closest Steak 'n Shake to use my e gift card. I explained to the manager what I went through and they easily took my order agreed that it didn't work on the kiosks and was sorry that I had that kind of experience due to willful ignorance from one of their team members. I asked them for the supervisor's number and they reiterated that the customer service number is no longer any good. So let the buyer beware if you have a poor experience with your local Steak 'n Shake good luck doing anything about it. Don't complain they will be sure to make sure that something that is clearly not your fault your fault!! Shame on the so called manager at the Steak 'n Shake in Acworth, ga. She should not manage the shake machine much less the restaurant which used to be run by a fine group of people. Unfortunately not anymore. read more

This was the final straw with this location. Placed the order in the drive thru. Even after waiting 15 mins plus, we still have to pull forward to wait for our food. They had the audacity to bring our milkshakes out without food. Our milkshakes were already melted. Asked to speak to the manager but they refused to come up front to even give change. So we had to keep our order. The previous visit, we decided to do the mobile order. We were there on time but it took 30 mins after the pick up time for our food to be ready. Like so many other places, this place can't find anyone that wants to work and they've gone to the kiosks. No table service at all. Don't tip. They want to go to no service, fine. No refills ever and no one ever checking on us. Not sure why they just don't go ahead and put up some Coke freestyles and just make this counter serve. DO NOT ALLOW YOUR MINOR KIDS to work from them: This is what happened to my daughter, this is the email I sent and no response. Good afternoon, I have gone back and forth on multiple occasions with one of your managers, "Bre." The issue at hand is they my minor daughter was employed at Steak and Shake Acworth, GA from May to June. She worked a total of 24.5 hours before I told her to terminate her employment due to working well pass midnight. As of August 3, 2022, my daughter has still not been paid her full pay. The manager has advised me via text that she has submitted the pay multiple times but yet she hasn't been paid. Today I was informed that my daughter was not authorized to work with the company, although she was hired and scheduled and my guess is that they are refusing, holding pay. I have tried to be patient not to get the manager in trouble or the company however my patience is wearing very thin. I can't understand how a company can hire a minor, refuse to pay them and then say they weren't authorized to work. This sounds illegal and scammish to me. Foolishly excited for 1/2 off milkshakes, I volunteered to go to Steak n Shake for the office girls to pick up 4 shakes. I get my shakes and half way down the road, I notice a steady milky stream running down my black leather car chair. Upon lifting the car carrier I realize EVERY cup has a slit at the bottom where they mixed the milkshake. They claim they mix the shakes in a metal cup before emptying in to their styrofoam cup, but that is not the case-see my picture! I not only have melted ice cream in my leather seat and new car but ice cream is all over me, the office floor and the carpet leading to the bathroom. No "Hi, welcome to Steak 'N Shake, may I take your order?... May I suggest one of our amazing shakes to complement your meal?... This location already has such low ratings, and usually I can let slide an "ok" meal, but to be rude and show zero customer service, is not acceptable. I recently purchased an order from this location using grub hub. The driver informed me that when he went to pick up the order, they would not let him inside and told him to go thru the drivethru. He called and the phone just rang and rang. After the driver dropped off our food, we were missing half our order. I tried calling the store and it just rand and rang. Grub hub immediately refunded us but the fact that the store doesn't answer is baffling. Food was cold, wasn't what we ordered, now my Son who especially needed to eat because of critical medication he takes, didn't get to. He isn't able to eat what Mom and Dad ordered. Here on a Sunday, early afternoon. Nothing "fast" about the fast food here. Sat in the lobby for about 20 minutes only to be told that it would be another 30 minutes. Then the waitress walked away . There was a table that she could have cleared, but didn't.so, we Cleared off our own table as nobody was cleaning the availabile 6-top. Appears to be a lack of servers, cooks, etc. The servers seem to be having problems clearing tables when someone leaves. There are at least 2 other 2-tops, 6 other 4-tops, and another two 6-tops that had been sitting waiting for food when we got here. So they've waited longer than us - and they're still waiting. If the servers had cooked food coming from the grill they could probably serve it. This restaurant needs someone to organize the back room. An hour and we're still waiting.......and it's just for a burger!!! read more

Dropped into S&S drive thru today to grab a snack for my kids. No customers inside; only one vehicle ahead. Ms. S was patient and nice at window; even gave us some salt for the fries upon request. Drove around building and parked to give children their fries when noticed my fry missing from the #10 burger/fry combo. Went back in to recoup missing item. Other lady heard my complaint at counter and immediately summoned Ms. S. Ms. S appeared and nonchalantly dismissed the error and blamed it on the assistant (later seen mopping the floor) and told her to get a fry. There was no sign of regret, apologies or concern for inconvenience, whatsoever. . Following my comment regarding professionalism, she tossed my fries into a basket on the counter. She informed me to leave and not return, ever. In disbelief, I questioned her ability and her disregard for her employer's business. She then made a phonecall and told me she was on phone with 911. I left and returned to kids in vehicle. I ate with kids in empty parking lot while we could see her on phone. 10+/_ minutes. Later as we started to leave (and she still on phone) we encountered and flagged down an approaching Acworth Policeman; Officer B. who cited me for criminal tresspass. He asked me to sign, I refused and demanded a copy of the citation. He gave me the pink illegible copy and we left, again in disbelief at how much America has changed over the years. read more

I went through the drive thru around 10pm tonight. There was one car ahead of me, already at the window. I placed my order "two Frisco melts with grilled onions. Extra Frisco sauce on the side. Two orders of Parmesan and herb fries." I repeated it twice The service took a few minutes while I was at the window (but that's expected and not a big issue normally) I checked the bag after I pulled away from the window and there was no extra sauce. I pulled back through the drive thru and explained, for my sauce and went home. At home there is no sauce on the sandwiches, and no grilled onions. We always have a great experience here. we ask for what we want and they try their best to accommodate. we had great service, the manager came over to say hi and to ask if everything was the way we wanted. so just ask for what you want, be nice and believe me they'll do everything in their power to make sure it's right! and don't forget to enjoy your food! read more

I'm someone who loves Steak 'n Shake from the greasy burgers and thin french fries - but I would NOT recommend this place. You would be better off driving twenty minutes down the road to the location in Kennesaw. When we were seated, the person seating to us barely said anything. He said, "how many?" and then walked away. We assumed he wanted us to follow him, so we did and he put our menus down and walked away again. It was strange especially because he was wearing manager gear so I would think he would be overly friendly. I have now been here twice where I had to wait an ungodly amount of time. I am willing to wait some because I know that a lot goes on in the food industry, BUT not all of our food got to the table at the same time. After we finished eating, I ordered a small shake... 30 MINUTES. It was a joke. The building was only half full, so it wasn't like they could be overwhelmed with a line out the door. I kept asking my waitress where the food was and she kept saying it was coming. It took me (at the 30 minute mark) going to the waiter area telling them to give it to me or take it off my receipt. It was suddenly ready. The fries were WAY too salty and the person with me asked for extra sauce on the side in addition to that on her melt and they ONLY brought sauce on the side. My son's mac and cheese was cold in the middle and hot on the outside - so most likely was just microwaved. I was able to stir it and it didn't matter to him, but it was just another thing that wasn't quite right. I haven't had a pleasant experience here the last few times I was here. I will not be coming back. I would rather go somewhere else or drive to the location in Kennesaw. To put a cherry on top - as we're leaving, we see comment cards and someone wrote "SLOW", which was hilarious and couldn't be more true. read more

We stood at the counter for several minutes while the manager discussed something with his employees. When they finally came to take our order, we were informed that it was now 4:03pm & happy hour was over. I explained that we'd been kept waiting & perhaps its was actually prior to 4pm when we were ready to place our order. The manager made only one appearance in the dining room in the whole time we were there and that was at the request of another table. All tables around us had been there longer and still waiting as well. When another table asked to see the manager he sent another waitress over who had no idea what to do with the complaints and stated the manager was having issues in the drive through. Most all of the staff was standing around and there was no hustle from anyone except one waitress that was seating people and running around working hard.
