Crazy I know but I was in the best shape of my life. I just don't understand jumping in your car to work out. This is how I first started going to Rise Ohio. I started going to this place partly because I can walk from my house, but more importantly I was looking for a place to be physically active. What I found was so much more. I have participated in Yoga and Woman's Self defence,at this location. I am not only healthier and more physically active, I have gained is self awareness, confidence, flexibility, empowerment, self defence skills, and friendship. I am not going to lie, I was nervous to do some of the self defence skills but I am so glad I did. I can now put someone in a choke hold, how empowering is that! The yoga has greatly helped with my flexibility and back pain. I have seem so much growth in the few short months I have been doing yoga consistently. It is truly something anyone can do If you are looking for some balance in your life please check out Rise Ohio. They offer child and adult jiu jitsu and yoga classes, all available in a welcoming, non intimidating environment. If I can do it, you can too!

I am not alone or exaggerating when I report that Balancing Owl saved my life. Stress was about to…read moresuck me under when, an number of years ago, I decided to try a few classes. My entire outlook of life changed. The stiffness, aches and pains in my body subsided. I wake everyday with a deep and abiding gratitude for the owner, the teachers, the practitioners, and the students associated with Balancing Owl. You all are magical and I love you!!! You know who your are. XOXO

I have been taking classes at Balancing Owl Yoga for several weeks now. It was recommended to me…read moreby a friend as I mentioned I was looking for online classes. I began taking online classes during COVID as my studio pivoted when they had to shut their physical doors. Upon reopening, I had become used to both online and in person classes. The studio was less than 10 minutes away and VERY convenient. However, they were facing a closing and I'd also found fewer and fewer classes for me to take. At the peak, I was at the studio 5 days a week for classes. By the end, I only had 2 classes a week. I'm an ALL IN membership person. Will pay monthly fees to have full access. So what drew me to B.O.Y. was its online offering. In looking around at local studios, I find VERY FEW have continued to offer virtual classes. Unlike BOY who live streams just about all in studio classes, other studios maybe offer a couple classes a week - despite having LOTS of in person classes. Another thing I appreciate at BOY is the slower, less physical practice. I have an injury and am unable to fully participate in the power yoga I am used to. I also am getting older and have found the need to modify what and how I do yoga. I am finding great success in the gentle, slow and restorative flow - allowing me to really focus on the mindfulness piece and how each movement and breath feels in my body. The times of the classes are pretty good. Ideally, I want a 6 PM start. Most of the BOY classes I attend are 6:30 - still within my wheelhouse that I'll be sure and show up. Which leads me to the big differentiator. BOY offers all virtual class recordings for a 24 hour period following the delivery of the link (within a couple of hours of the class concluding). I MUCH prefer to attend a live class and have found it a challenge to get motivated to watch a recording. I'm a disciplined person when it comes to all other things, but I know when I register for one I'll possibly watch the recording, that there is little chance I'll do it. The friend that referred me thinks quite differently - so she takes advantage of the recordings. This is only the 2nd studio I've tried after moving away from my former home studio. The entry month deal is great and I highly recommend you give it a try if you have any interest in attending their classes. I may or may not return for a full membership. TBD at this point. Definitely need more research before making that decision. Which reminds me, I need to leave a review for the other studio I just tried online!!

I am very excited about this wellness center located just off Gemini Parkway, across from Ikea. The…read morehour-long sound bath is an absolute delight. Lisa (owner) has curated a wonderland of auditory and vibrational sensations, including gongs, chimes, woodwinds, bells, voice, and techno devices that lead you seamlessly on an experience of body and spirit. It was a great way to completely release for an hour, and I can only imagine how great it would be to do this on a regular basis. I have signed up for the drum class and can't wait to experience it! To start, the Sound Room is super easy to access, just off I-71 at Gemini Pkwy. There is tons of parking. The Sound Room is accessed by elevator on the 3rd floor of the office building in which it is housed. There are cubbies to stash your stuff--leave your phones and smart watches outside of the Sound Room in the secure lobby. You enter the large Room which is ringed by padded chaise-lounge type chairs, and decorated in a relaxing, zen, soothing and low-key style. Once the lights are dimmed, the room is lit only by candlelight (from LED candles, of course!). Each participant relaxes comfortably (and fully clothed) on their lounge chair, with optional throw blankets and bolsters to ensure complete comfort. The journey begins with a meditative narration which is accompanied by a series of sounds, which I can only describe as having sensations and textures. Each ensuing minute draws you deeper into relaxation. I was able to just let go, not even really listening to every word, but just coasting on the soothing vibrations of the experience. As the moments flow, you are treated to a 'bath' of sound, as Lisa weaves a tapestry you both hear and feel. Nothing actually 'touches' your body, but I can tell you that you feel the very lovely sensation of each sound frequency if you are attuned to it. The 60 minutes goes by surprisingly quickly. If you have any hesitations about this experience, I assure you, there is nothing to fear. This experience is appropriate for individuals of all backgrounds, beliefs, and perspectives. It is mainly about letting go, relaxing, and 'feeling' these sounds and vibrations in your body. There are no shocks, surprises, or scares here. I left feeling tingly, soothed, and refreshed. This is something for anyone who is interested in experiencing something that fully engages the senses. Thanks, Lisa!

At my first session, Alicia gave me a tour of the space with different health treatments they offer. There are some excellent package deals if you visit often. Alicia was great. She had several customers in for different treatments and was easily working with all of us. The salt room is a lovely little room with reclining outdoor chairs. There are yoga mats, blankets, bolsters, and a few other items for comfort. Music plays softly and there is a warm glow from the salt wall. At my first treatment I didn't really notice any salt in the room compared to other salt therapies I have gone to. Alicia said they use a finer grain of salt. Skeptical at first, I went with it, but an hour later I really did notice a difference in my breathing and feeling lighter in my chest. My other two sessions went great. This is a cool little wellness shop. I am glad to have found the Groupon. Mold exposure is no fun but Sweet Dreams treatments helped me heal faster!
