Pros - ok pool table, young people (usually couples or groups of friends), and drinks Cons - bad service, always a wait, expensive pool if playing by yourself (10$ an hour even during weekdays and afternoons) My reason for rating 1 star is I waited 20 minutes for a table tonight as the table was getting up I confirmed with teh guy I was next, went back to get my coat, and a different guy that just came on shift at 1130pm gives the table to a random group that just walked in. i tell the guy what the hell and all he says is he just came on his shift and he was sorry. well what do i do wait another 20 minutes so they can just give the table to somebody else that walks in over somebody like me thats been waiting? hell no i wont do that So i went to the bartender and told her what happened the best they said was i can wait and be next in line - well i already waited 20 minutes and the type of people that are playing play for hours so i just told her i wont be back again for business and that i live in the neighborhood. she didnt try to really stop me as i walked out the door she could have offered me a drink while i wait bad staff i play off ovington and 5th avenue more tables, ping pong tables, air hockey, but no drinks - people bring in beers through there girls purse and sit all the way in the back though the crowd at status quo is more about taking date - no tournament players are ever in there that are any good been there like 4-5 times before this happened never really seen any hustlers/pros there read more

There are several billiards spots near me but I usually choose to come here because it has a very relaxing and calm atmosphere. Music is not blasting in the background like in other places which can be quite disruptive to your game. The workers are very friendly and you can grab a drink while playing since it's a bar too after all. read more

Last night was my first time at this spot and I was pleasantly surprised: it's a chill atmosphere, doesn't get too crowded, and you fit right-in even if you are a beginner to the delights of pool, like me. It's a diverse crowd, there's a little bar in front, and the music was just right. The only reason I didn't give this a 5/5 is because you can't really get food here and there aren't a lot of places to just sit and chat with your friends if you are not playing pool, but those things are minor. This place is great at what it provides: a pool-playing space welcoming to all. read more

I haven't been to a Pool Hall since I was a teenager so I am really not an expert on this, but it is definitely primarily a pool hall, with a beer. I want to say there were around 8 pool tables, and its very basic and divey. At least 5 beers on tap and $3 cans of PBR which is always a plus in my book. They also have darts although I didn't see anyone playing the night I came here. read more

Met a friend at Status Q last night for some after work drinks and pool. Never got to play as we spent the entire night talking. Looks like there was a dart board tournament and pool tournament going on. Atmosphere was laid back and low-key. Drinks were reasonably priced. Bartender wasn't upbeat like you'd find in the city but pleasant. Will go back and re-review to see if this was a one time experience. read more

After looking for a pool hall. Went to green point and it wasn't what I was looking for. Came to status Q and had a great time. Small, lots of tables and games. Cheap beer and people were nice. But they could use better TV's to watch a game. And maybe better sound. Overall it was a great night and I'll be coming here very soon. read more

We come here as a group at least 3 times a month and never had a bad experience till tonight. Went to the bar and asked for 2 beers and a soda( 3 of us were playing). The bartender asked for IDs of all the players. We showed her 2 ids for the beers and she refused to serve us without the other person(who wanted a coke) showing his id. Very awkward but okay no problem. We finally ended up seating at the bar to finish the beers so we can head to the table and play. She says the beers are gonna be $12. We asked her for a receipt and she flips the fuck out. " Receipt for what" she says? I am sorry Sharon( apparently is her name), is that too much to ask for? So she gets mad and pulls the beers from the bar telling us that she doesn't have to serve us shit. Super trashy. Obviously wanted to pocket the money for herself, stealing from the owner. Beware of this employee, she probably does this with others as well and is ruining your business. I wish I could give less than one star for Sharon who after doing this to us, goes around the bar bragging and saying : That's the way I like it baby". Overall is a good place, but needs to get rid of this trashy bartender who is rude to customers and brags to other about her rude behavior. Would love to come back and have a conversation with the owner about this as we like the place and have beers coming regularly for a year. read more

If you are looking for a bar that is laid back, low key, not over crowded, and has resonable prices in Bay Ridge then this is the spot. Its not one of the many in this area that spent so much money on their decorations that you will pay for it when you tab out! It has several pool tables and 2 dart boards. The music is from a juke box and isnt loud making conversation easy! The games are always on here and the fans are there to make it a fun atmosphere. Staff is friendly and helpful! Also the bathrooms are clean! Just cant say enough about this place...its my pick for a happy hour drink or any other time out in my neighborhood! Check it out for yourself! read more

I've been going here fairly regularly for the last three years and always enjoyed it. This is a fine pool hall and lounge! It is well run, friendly and clean. They have eight regulation tables and two bar tables that are well maintained. The house cues are also clean and well maintained. League players usually play on the bar tables on Wednesday and Thursday nights. The drinks are good and reasonably priced. The music is OK and kept at a decent volume. The new LEDs/LCD TV screens are tuned to variety of sporting events, and management will usually accommodate customer requests for specific events. The gender breakdown is about 65% men/35% women with the median age about 30-35. It is kept comfortably cool in the summer and warm in the winter. I usually frequent this pool hall since they have the nicest tables in the area, however after today I will not be going back. I came in alone to kill some time before picking up my GF in the area, I play for an hour and on my way to the cashier the owner accused me of trying to get out of paying for 2 people,he swore that he witnessed me playing back their with another guy. I explained that I came in by myself he could ask the guy who let me in and that the other guys were playing on their own table.He literally did not believe me telling me "your guna sit here and lie to my face" .Now I am sitting here having an argument with this nasty MF who is talking to me like I'm trash as if I'm trying to get over on his $5. (Mind you I'm wearing a $10K Rolex watch while this is happening) I simply told him "Listen, if you want the extra $5 that bad you can have it, but I'm not about to sit here and agree with u if I wasn't with anyone". He gave me a filthy look and told me to leave. No wonder the place is always empty when you gota deal with this guy shaking down his customers for a few bucks! read more

After walking from bar to bar in Bay Ridge on a Saturday night, and not finding the atmosphere we were looking for (see: not ridiculously crowded and not ridiculously loud), we finally stumbled on Status Q. I was a little hesitant about it, cause the signage doesn't really reflect the inside, but when we got in I found it to be pleasant. There was no awful music blaring, like so many of the other bars we'd been to that night. It's not that I don't like music either, but when I have to literally YELL to a person that's a foot and a half away from me, that is not an enjoyable atmosphere. Anyway, at Status Q there are several billiard tables, a fooseball table, darts... The bar itself seemed nice too, several beers on tap. I guess the place was recently renovated, and I could tell since it seemed that they still needed to add a bit of character to the decor. Overall though, this place was what we were looking for. Calm, laid back patrons, enough space to move around, enough places to sit, clean bathrooms, friendly bartender... All in all it was a nice place to end up. read more

Great service, great atmosphere, and great pizza. We had purchased a groupon to use here that included a pitcher of beer with the deal. We didn't want it, but they were super accommodating with offering soda instead. Had a very fun night with friends here. Would definitely go again! read more

Always enjoy the atmosphere here. I'm not a pool person but my fiancé is. He enjoys the various table sizes. I love that they now have the NFL PACKAGE!! I can watch my home team (Go Pack!) and he can watch all his fantasy guys and baseball! Great spot. read more

only real pool hall ive been to in brooklyn, with a bar that is... pretty alright spot... music is jukebox so its weird mix at times. but for pool and bar its alright, dont have to worry about putting your quarters up here! read more
