As someone who has frequented this place for the last couple years, I believe I can give yall a good idea of what to expect. I mostly come for MondayNightVibes, their karaoke joint. It's often going to be the same people performing, and most are actually singers. Lol. I won the karaoke contest a few months back, and was very annoyed that you can only redeem your win the FOLLOWING Monday. If you win, you get a free drink tower and table. Forcing people to use it the following Monday is idiotic. All of us don't go out every Monday night or consecutively like that. We're creatives with lives, and I was actually going to be out of town shooting a movie the next week and couldn't be there. This particularly rubbed me the wrong way, especially because in order to win, I had to send so many people from my page to vote for me, which required them to follow the MondayNightVibes page. So I sent all that foot traffic and followers (potential new customers) their way, only to not be able to redeem the benefits of my hard work. The only one who benefitted was them. Being that so many people in town are artists, they should know many of us are working actors. I even DM'd them directly (see photos) and they wouldn't accommodate me or allow me to use my winning prize on another night that wouldn't conflict with my shoot schedule. Bad business all around that they didn't even try to make it right, and it put a sour taste in my mouth being that it was the first time I ever did karaoke without a partner, just solo. And I won. But couldn't even redeem my prize. 10 thumbs down. They also have this "arrive by 10:30pm to get in free" thing because they claim to be passionate about keeping a free option available, but they put you through hoops to get it. They make you RSVP for the free slot, but honestly the RSVPs are rarely available, and the people who take them don't even show up. Why not just acknowledge the people at the door by 10:30 regardless of RSVP, or at least let people know it's for the first 15 or so people? On AfroBeats night (Saturdays) expect to be groped. The place gets way too crowded, too hot, and I had an annoying experience of being grabbed at too many times to count. But they encourage that type of thing with how the servers are dressed, which is my final complaint. I'm not a prude. I get it. Sex sells. But over the years, the hostesses' outfits have gotten skimpier, to the point where the last time I went, some ladies didn't even have leggings. Just straight thong over ass. It's not a strip club. It's not even a hookah lounge. We get it, black spaces love to have ambiguous women to allure the men, as it's a collective preference within the community. That's all fine, but they should be pretty enough to sell the sex as is. Why is someone rubbing her bare ass on me to walk by? I didn't like that, and I feel when you're doing that in spaces that aren't sex worker spaces like strip clubs, you rub consumers the wrong way. LA is full of singles. Nobody's trying to meet a man in a club with almost naked women serving drinks and flirting with them. They're literally hugging on men and rubbing bare ass on everyone to walk by, and don't get me started on how they act when a celeb has a section. I've watched them sit on laps and let Trey Songz slap and jiggle their butts. It's just trifling to me because it's not a strip club, and frankly not the vibe of the space. To be honest the women will eventually just stop coming because we're not about to try to compete with that to maybe meet someone. Of course I always meet people because I'm attractive, but I mean in general for a party space, I believe it throws off the energy if it's not a strip club. They're literally dressed like they do lap dances with happy endings in the back. And I have seen a change in the aesthetic of men and women coming into the establishment. People just don't have time for that, and like I said earlier, it encourages a horny energy from men who start grabbing on us, the clubgoers, to continue the energy the hostesses started, and we're not on that type of time. Overall, it's a pretty cool spot with a fun reputation. I come because I enjoy doing karaoke and it kind of is ingrained into my LA experience because my friend used to take me here often. Mel & Tavares & Amber always brought a crowd, but they don't even frequent here anymore, so it just hasn't been hitting for me lately. Adding the Jamaican food vendor inside of the venue was a pretty interesting choice, as there's already barely nowhere to sit to eat in the first place, but I guess they're figuring it out. Worst experience . Don't ever come here . Went for Halloween last year , did the bottomless mimosas and everyone that did bottomless mimosas got their own bottles. Made sense since it's $30+ to do bottomless. Trust I'm from Daygo and we don't mess around with bottomless. We do it right period ! Well here today and they don't give you your bottles . Had 6 people in my party do it and we did not even get our monies worth . Told the Bottle girl and she agreed. She said the owners switched it up and now they gotta walk around and pour . Well that would work if the bottle girls paid attention to their tables ..which they did not. They all just played around the bar area . I was not happy , informed our server , she told us "oh well, sorry it ended at a certain time " so I went in saying to her it's not like their giving us expensive or middle shelf champagne . First time here and WILL NEVER come back unless one of my fav artists is playing. Went yesterday for "10 years of Clinic" (first time there) and I liked the venue as it was small and you can see your artist from anywhere. They had random bottle service tables spread out but when I went only 1 person ordered the bottle service (which looked corny lol). But what really ticked me off and I read this prior to arriving was the price of the drinks. Shocked to find that there was an added 20% fee and a 3% credit card service charge. Also, my gf got a shot for herself which came out to $20 a shot plus all those included fees. I realize they need to do this to survive in LA so I'm not really mad they need more than I do ‍. I came for Dave Seaman and Quivver the day after Thanksgiving and had a pretty good time overall. The sound system is quite good for the size of the dance floor, which was a pleasant surprise. The visuals could have been more interesting, but you can't win it all. The bar was easy to access, though the prices were pretty standard (read: over priced). The bathrooms were pretty much what you would expect, as well - a little grimy but does the trick. The crowd was mostly chill, and getting into the club was easy. Came on a Saturday April 16th. It was cool vibes. They played Afrobeat music. We did get a table, we got escorted in right away. The bottle girl was very attentive and made sure we had fresh cups and cleaned up the used bottles, poured fresh ice and refilled the juice. The benches where we sit at were old. They had no cushion what so ever, we just sunk down. Also, the table next to ours had way to many people. Those people were basically sitting on our section. I did ask the security to ask them to move they did not care and neither did the other table have courtesy or respect for our space. We did end up paying over $2,000 dollars, at the end of the night, but personally I think it's too expensive. Especially if your benches can't have cushion and your security guards don't listen. read more

Everyone in the audience could tell he was being disrespectful to the band. I so badly wish there was something I could do cause it was so upsetting. He ruined the night for many people. This was the first stop in our club crawl. It was pretty early for a club, around 9:00 PM, so there was no crowd except for us club crawl peeps. The place has a dark and energetic vibe. It has a large dance floor in the middle of the bar, and seating in the periphery. The bar sits opposite the DJ. The staff here was friendly, and the drinks were alright. It had a relaxed vibe, which is great as I got to catch up with my old friend who was visiting after 14 years. It was also great to meet new people, and not deal with long lines as is typical around in LA later in the night. To really get a glimpse at the crowd here, I'd have to come back another day. But the first stop in the club crawl proved a decent one. If I come back here another evening, I'll update this review accordingly. read more

I actually left the venue about an hour ago* and overall, I had a really good time! Sometimes the bars/clubs/lounges on Cahuenga here all run together. I knew the address sounded somewhat familiar, since it was directly next to Tramp Stamp Granny's (1638) so at least I knew where I was heading. Between that and a newsstand-appropriate location for a NYC subway themed club-I walked up to a door with no line-or turnstile-and checked in with my ID. Monday night is their Karaoke/90s/R&B night, and they had a pretty good crowd going on. I didn't let the fact I was alone get to me as I walked the floor looking for my friend who was celebrating her birthday. The vibe here was a good one tonight, and although I failed to find her on my first go-around, she ended up being sequestered in a booth right next to the dj area. I didn't recognize anyone else but was welcomed into their area where we had a great view of the floor close to the stage perspective. Most of the songs were familiar, and even if they weren't 'pros', people seemed to be having fun regardless. Probably the number where almost everyone joined in was three guys singing a Boyz II Men tune (End of the Road). Even off-key, this was a lot of fun, and isn't that usually how it goes? After midnight, you could see a sparkler in the air as they headed towards our area with cupcakes to go along with our shots for the birthday girl. Eventually people wanted to get up to dance when they started playing music and there was plenty of room for them to do so. I'm glad I decided to come out; and since I actually enjoyed myself, this made it worth the while. What also caught my attention in the best way is that they also serve food here (one of the guys in the party had some wings). I also will remember this being the place I had my first sip (not shot) of Patron. And it's a no. *Came back to finish my review a couple days later in the week...and I still feel the same way about this place. Hope it's just as good on other nights! read more

On the inside we waited 20 mins at the bar to receive bar service. I purchased 2 shots of tequila and 2 Modelos - $80. The Toast handheld allowed me to send the receipt to my cell phone, and I did. Why the fuck is two shots and two beers $80???!! Turns out, which the bartender and postings around the bar failed to mention before securing payment or providing receipt for purchase, 20% service charge is added to every check. I tipped over 20% - pretty standard for me - but because the cost was alarming, I had to see the bill. I questioned the bartender about the fee; he stated "it goes to the house." At which point I grew extremely perturbed and did not order another round. As a restaurant manager and longtime industry professional, I have seen this type of assault become more frequent in Los Angeles bars. But unfortunately only where Black people patronize. What bar owners should know is that unless you have insurance to cover charge backs, let people know about your hidden fees or you could risk losing the entire profit. So I came to LA for the first time with 3 friends for the brunch /day party. When I got here it seemed to be a good party. However I was met with unrolled orders. The waitress was no at fault but the kitchen failed. I ordered the chicken and waffles and was told it would be a 15-25 min delay. I then witnessed my friend get her chicken and waffles before me and then my other friend get their order after I got mine. I told the waitress to take my order from the bill. I had to go to Popeyes on the corner to eat. They tried to elevate the problem with free shots, but to no avail. I still have not eaten. Came out to hand with DJ Meirlin on a Sunday afternoon. First time at this venue and didn't get to spend much time. I enjoyed the atmosphere as it mocks up a train station. Since it was set up for a club setting, the sound was great and didn't bleed into the streets as much as I thought it would. (the window was open too) Drinks are on the pricey side, but since it is Hollywood it is pretty much expected. I did see some photos of food on yelp and would like to try sometime. If I could give an overall negative star, I would. This place is a NYC subway themed spot with mediocre music, hit and miss staff and horrible management. A friend visiting from HI and I were wrangled off the street into this place, by a really nice fella, last night for 2 for 1 happy hour. He gets 5 stars. There were maybe 6 - 10 patrons in there. The bartender didn't get my drinks exactly right, but that wasn't a big deal. He too was nice enough. The problems started when just into our second drinks, we were approached by staff and told that our seats had to be taken away to make room for access to the bar. That might make sense on a busier night, but there was no point last night. My friend and I moved to a sofa in what appeared to be a VIP section of the bar. We sat in the middle and put our drinks on a table in a far corner of the section. It was the nearest choice. We were the only two people sitting there and engaged in conversation. Then for some reason unknown to us, we were roped in.... Shortly thereafter I noticed our almost full drinks had been taken away. We tried to speak to the manager, but we were treated hostilely and like scammers. I assume he thought we were tourists so he could treat us like crap. But I'm a local. I have lived in a patronized my neighborhood for over 17 years. I have also seen dozens of bars like this come and go. We didn't even care about the drinks as much as the negative response from the manager. That guy needs a lesson in customer relations and the bussing staff needs retraining in clearing a section. We were the only two people sitting in that area and we were respectful enough not to put our drinks on the furniture. It would have been so easy and the responsibility of the staff to ASK if those drinks belonged to us. Instead the manager was defensive and argued with us that our story "didn't make sense" - things got accusatory and he reluctantly agreed to replace our drinks but by then things were so ugly I wasn't comfortable having another drink made, so we just left. The place has small potential but needs new bar management and staff retraining. In the meantime, I will not go back and do not recommend this place. read more

Dinner n bass was such a genius and fun night at Station 1640! The menu was extra delicious and tasty. We ordered food for 3 hours while we took in the drum n bass music! ALL of the food was perfect! Our server was the great! My date night with my husband for Respect's 22nd Anniversary was more than we hoped for! We ordered the shrimp tacos, Asada tacos, dinner n bass plate, Hennessey BBQ wings, Tennessee Whiskey hot wings (3 orders) and washed down with Moscow mules highly recommend a night out at Station 1640 for Dinner n bass! read more

I visited La for the weekend and decided to check out 1640 on 2/225/23. Music was amazing,vibe was great.... I ordered a drink on my card and then decided to use some cash for my last beer. There was a tall woman who brought back my beer, I gave her a 20 she hands me back a dollar?? Since when are 12oz beers 19 dollars?? She stood back and cowardly started mumbling from a distance and wouldn't come to the bar to explain. I then asked her colleague (shorter woman who had served me prior), why she charged me 19.00 dollars and she responded with "oh, yeah it's because some people don't tip..." LAME! The outdoor vendors in the back is something I would remove and create a nice outdoor seating area. I wasn't interested in buying any items or tarot cards.
