Unacceptable: Racism, verbal abuse, and physical aggression from staff…read more I had a terrible and completely unacceptable experience at Candela La Brea. Due to an Uber address mix-up, we ended up at this location by mistake. Upon arriving near closing time, we just asked if we could come in for a drink as we believed this was a bar: After being told it was a private event, I calmly tried to explain our Uber mistake. Instead of handling the situation professionally, a female staff member completely lost her temper. She started screaming at us, talked to us terribly, and physically aggressed us and telling us to go away. Given the unprovoked hostility and the way she treated us, I strongly believe her behavior was racially motivated because we are not from America. She tried to physically attack us. Her actions were so completely out of line and unwarranted that even several guests from the private event came over to apologize to us for her deplorable conduct. No one should ever be subjected to discrimination, verbal abuse, or violence over a simple misunderstanding. I highly advise avoiding this place, customer service, safety, and basic respect are completely nonexistent here. To make matters worse, I didn't even say a word to provoke her, she completely misdirected her anger at us just because of other people standing nearby. Being targeted, screamed at, and pushed when you haven't done or said a single thing is completely unhinged. She literally screamed right in our faces: "Hell no! Get the fuck out of here!"

Our Bulldogs didn't want to leave and neither did we. Don't miss this one if you have the option... Georgia is a person of magic and nothing but a giver. She's the best yet.

We were looking for a unique venue for our November wedding. We knew we wanted it to be outdoors…read moreand a place for both a reception and the ceremony so that our guests wouldn't have to travel between the two. The Enchanted Manor was the first place we looked at and we both felt that it was the right fit. Georgia has created a little oasis in her back yard that we felt fit our vibe - lowkey, but classy. We had booked originally for approximately 60 guests, however once all the pieces fell into place we were closer to 50. Unfortunately our guest count dropped below 50 just after our window to let Georgia know, but she was kind enough to offer us the price difference. We applied that balance towards renting some heaters and lighting the fire pits as the weather got colder than anticipated, as well as to handling the trash. (Pay attention to the contract, you are responsible for removing trash or there is a fee.) One thing I didn't realize before booking was that there is space for a kitchen, but it needs to be built out for your event, so make sure you consider that into any costs. Georgia was really helpful and responsive to all of our questions (we had so many) and anything that we couldn't do she had very reasonable reasons. (For example, at one point I thought I'd like confetti, but she explained why she doesn't allow that on her property which made total sense!) The weeks before I became worried that there wasn't enough decor, so we bought some items that we ended up returning. Once the rentals arrived, combined with the lighting, everything was beautiful as it was. Though there is excellent lighting, I would recommend watching your step as we did have a few tripping incidents (that were not alcohol fueled in some cases) as the ground changed. It was more due to the way things were spaced and we'd have to make sure to look down as we stepped around things, but we managed to survive. We've started to see some photos and everything looked beautiful; it was a romantic but relaxed vibe which was just what we wanted. I worried it wouldn't feel like a wedding, but it did. Georgia was a gracious host, our guests enjoyed her home (we made sure to tell them that they could rent it as well for an overnight getaway) and we can't wait to start reading her book. She gave us the sweetest compliment after, saying how kind our guests were and how that spoke to who my husband and I were as well. We stayed in touch after the wedding and I hope we meet again in the future for events or just a dinner to hear of her adventures! PS - her cats were big hits all around, too!

I have been her many times over the last 30 years and still enjoy my time here. My most favorite times to visits is spring and autumn. Oh my !!!! So so beautiful. During October they have Carved festivities happening after dark. It's so fun. They decorate with pumpkins, ghosts and lots of light. Cool experience for kids and adults. Great spot to hang out with family and friends. They sell food and drinks so it makes the perfect night out with family. There is also a cafe and restaurant and a coffee cart by the entrance of the gardens. I love stopping by and enjoying a cup of coffee or pastries and sometimes lunch. Great place.

They have so much going on that you honestly can't see in a day, even if you try. I was there for a good 3.5 hours and still didn't get to see everything. I packed myself two sandwiches and bottled water, and decided to go and be in the arms of nature. I am so glad that I did. It was AMAZING in every way. Flowers blossom year round, but is more beautiful during Spring time. There is so much to see and every corner is peaceful, beautiful, and relaxing. Love it! Did like 15 minutes of hiking, before it was time to eat. This garden was established back in 1953. They have trails, benches, a gift shop, and a restaurant. Since I had my own lunch, didn't need to eat at their eatery. They also have a snack shop near the entrance that sells snacks/beverages. Admission is $18.00 for adults. Not sure for kids and seniors. Didn't buy anything from anywhere. Ate my own lunch and drank my water. The landscape is huge and the meadows were kept well maintained. If you do a lot of walking, then you need to chill for at least 15 minutes, recharge your own batteries and start moving again. It was a nice way to clear my head. From where I was standing, I saw this cute, small house decorated with lots of pumpkins. Some of the gardens that they have are: a Rose garden, Japanese garden, huge section for festival camellias, native oak trees (that's always beautiful to look at). They also have indoor and outdoor venues that you can hold events such as weddings, meetings, and corporate events. It was a nice way to start my day. I highly recommend Descaneso Gardens to anyone who loves zen, nature tranquility and more. Great place to go on a date, solo, with family and friends. Plenty of parking spaces free of charge!

Summer is here and so is the Hollister House. And if you have a stylish teen in your household,…read morethey will love this place! Especially since a lot of what happens here is: FREE! There are FREE LIVE CONCERTS & ACTIVITIES FOR FANS OF HOLLISTER scheduled for various dates between May 23rd and August 3rd 2014..Also on site are DJs, a Juice Bar, Yoga Lessons, Beach Volleyball, Fashion Shows, Free Food & Snacks. There are games galore to play in the backyard like ping pong. Of course, in the meantime, the Hollister brand is being pimped big time, along with Abercrombie & Fitch--a Hollister corporate partner. But being close enough to the beautiful Santa Monica beach to hear the ocean cannot hurt the "Cali branding" and seems to help equate Hollister with cool , fashionable kids and happy memories of fun in the summertime. I went online to see if there were any free tickets left for a teen wanting to visit the Beach House for a show and darn it--they were all sold out and wait listing. Hollister hopefuls must be at least 14 years old and reside in the greater Los Angeles, CA. area to apply. Parental consent is required for anyone under 18 to attend performances. Photograph submissions with applications of you dressing in your best 'So Cal style' will decide whether you are emailed an eticket or not. Though the Hollister House is clearly a shill for Hollister clothing, I can't help but at least give it 4 YELP STARS for making a fun place for tweens & teens to enjoy the action.
