Purchased brand new home through DR Horton September 2024. April 3, 2026, major water leak (small geyser) welled up from just past the water meter. Turned off water at meter with correct, water company approved tool. Fairfield Public Works Inspector came out to access damage. Past the meter so, not FF city issue (nice fellow, very apologic!). Called DR Horton Customer Service rep who instructed us to submit a claim immediately. Rep called Northbay Plumbing who is DR Horton plumbing subcontractor. By early evening we had water, so we were happy with the plumber's quick response. Next business day (leak on Friday), -and after I had removed bark and landscaping fabric-plumbers began repair first thing-about 8am-ish. Two feet past the meter and four feet down the cause of the leak was discovered...Schedule 40 pipe glue failed. Repair ensued. By noon the repair was completed with instructions to leave pipe exposed until mid-afternoon. Plumber phone rang. Boss instructed that the repair hole was to be completely filled in, no waiting for glue to completely dry. I was told water would be turned back on by no later than mid-afternoon. By 4pm, I called the boss to find out when our water would be turned on. He stated it must be poor water pressure from the City...I countered with everything is turned. off. He sent someone over to do a pressure test, but the guy obviously didn't know an elbow joint from-a- hole-in-the-ground. He had even forgot the pressure guage (which is used BEFORE the repair is back-filled), then attempted to turn the water on at the meter with a chancellor players rather than the tool specific for the job. I stopped him immediately after he had slipped twice, out of concern he would damage the valve. My husband brought out our tool plus instructed him to turn on the water slowly-due to too much water pressure too fast could damage the repair-which he listened to my husband's strongly emphasized instructions, then using the tool successfully -slowly- turned on the water at the meter. I had to show him the other two valves to turn on as well. When I approached the owner through DR Horton to compensate us for the wasted water we would have to pay for, we were told that City of Fairfield could credit our account. He wouldn't even address any compensation for the damage his business created! The plumbers were great-please understand I see that. Got right on the issue, repairs completed in record time, nice guys...not their fault for old/inferior glue! What rubbed me wrong was how the owner dumped any responsibility of credit on the City of Fairfield rather than paying the lousy $13.95 (credit received from City) for the extra on our bill. Hence my comment on the owner being cheap! If you use Northbay Plumbing just know you might have a great plumber, but the business office will be only looking out for their own pocket... I am giving this business 2 stars only because of the plumbers...not the boss or owner.
