Recently in the last year, I wanted to start getting my nails done at places that were smaller and more personalized, and this is as personalized and private as it gets! When we first walked in, Lucy made us feel very welcomed and at ease. You are the only person there and all the attention is focused on you. Lucy was so accommodating that she let my mom and I come in together and hang out with each other. Lucy is very funny and keeps the conversation going. Her attention to detail is amazing, as I was getting a more complicated design. She has a lot of patience and wanted to get the design just right and make sure I was happy without rushing. You can tell that she really enjoys what she's doing through her work. I already booked my refill with the same nail design even before I left Lucy's place for a refill for for my gel-x tips and design. Although there are nail salons that are much closer to me, driving half an hour is definitely going to be worth it to me each time to get my nails done at Lucy's for more gel-x tips and gel pedicures! If you're looking for a relaxing, private nail place in western mass, Lucy is your girl!

If you're looking for the quintessential New England bitchy, rude, aggressive behavior, look no…read morefurther. After waiting several minutes one December afternoon, Betty came to the door and hand picked which person she deemed worthy to enter. It wasn't me - who was in a cast using a knee scooter and barely able to stand. It was someone else who had walked up several minutes after us. Then she slammed the door in our faces without saying anything. We waited 10 minutes and called. Betty claimed she came out to talk to us which she never did. We continued to wait then Betty came out and started to argue with us about how she felt she wasn't rude all while rudely yelling. She may think it's ok to talk to everyone else like that but it's not ok to be abusive and disrespectful to people. The reason for my visit was to see Megan Hale, lash artist. She was almost an hour late for our appointment. This was my first time with her and she didn't ask me what I wanted in terms of lashes or if I wore fake lashes etc. She simply had me lay on the table and started to glue on the lashes she thought were best. I was quite disappointed once they were done as they were light and not at all what I was expecting. I'm used to wearing much heavier, curlier lashes. When I asked her how to care for them she just laughed looked at my daughter and said "ask her." Pros: During the visit she kept the conversation flowing. She can be entertaining and friendly and at times funny. She's easy to talk to and there aren't awkward lags in the conversation. The time literally flew by. Megan is gentle and careful with her hands making sure not to poke you. Cons: Megan gossips about everyone. And by everyone I mean E V E R Y O N E. I know that she hates the people who own the salon she works at (who can blame her), Hannah, the owner's daughter thinks she runs the place and makes Megan do her eyelashes for free yet makes Megan pay for her hair, they yell at Megan all the time and make her uncomfortable, she calls her husband ugly and that she married down, she says she's better than some clients but doesn't mind taking their money, she cusses frequently using the "f" word while working and prattles on about much more. This was all within my first appointment. My eyelashes were not completely filled on my left eye and the glue started lifting later that day. Within a day multiple lashes had fallen out. By day 13 I had only a few stragglers hanging on for dear life. At $120 I expected more than a week. Fast forward to my follow up - a fill appointment. I arrive at 12:30pm for a 12:30 appointment. It's 32° outside and the place is completely closed, lights out. I call Megan's cell and it's off. I wait for 45 minutes and receive and automatic message saying she will be "a few minutes late." Since I'm in a wheelchair and it's 32° and it's a process getting in and out of a car, I ask how long because I don't want to wait outdoors all day. Knowing she was late last time and she is already late this time I head to my car and prepare to leave. Finally, at 2:06pm Megan remembered she had a 12:30pm appointment and sends me a text saying she was only 5 or 10 minutes late. Hmmm which is it 5 or 10? Megan do you really think I believe your lie? Megan had to be the most unprofessional, disrespectful con artist I've ever come across. Her ability to maintain an on time work schedule and healthy boundaries are non existent. She's unable to distinguish truth from lies and has a poor work ethic. I do not recommend her or anyone at Alison Elizabeth's at all. In fact, I find the environment toxic, unfriendly, and sinister. Edit: I was sent harassing and threatening text messages by Megan and Betty as a result of writing this review.

Michele does a GREAT JOB. She's highly competent and my manicure lasted way longer than usual. I was also very pleasantly surprised at how nice her little room was decorated. It was super clean as well which is always very important to me and an issue that most often prevents me from returning to a new salon. I will say it took me several tries over a number of weeks and months to get an appointment but I am very glad that I finally got in and of course, made a follow up appointment for the next time. The cost was a bit more than I normally pay but for great quality, it is well worth it. I look forward to seeing Michele again soon.

I was leery about having this done in VT in general and by someone who I did not know in particular. I, erroneously, thought most salons up here would be sub-par to the CT and NY salons I am used to. Boy was I WRONG! Michele, from Long Island, is the quintessential nail professional! She knew just how to do my gel nails (not just gel polish) and tips. She was very receptive to my very specific requests. She was friendly, funny and very skilled. The personal attention was a real treat! The salon itself SHOCKED me, as it was absolutely gorgeous. Clean, modern, elegantly decorated and meticulously kept. I felt like I was in an exclusive, private spa at a 5 star resort. It really was a great little oasis from the earthy experience we all love so much about VT. If you need to be pampered and prefer to do it with class and style, this is the place for you! Thanks so much Michele! You made my vacation exceptional! Hannah Smith Wolfgang Fairfield, CT

I recently had my hair highlighted with Brianna C. Before getting my hair done by her, I had talked to her about what I was trying to achieve with my hair. She said that she could get my hair close to the photo. I told her over and over that I didn't want my hair to be toned dark because she had toned it dark in the past. I told her before the appointment and during the appointment. She ended up toning my hair dark, and left me with darker ends in comparison to the rest of the hair. After talking to her about how dissatisfied I was with my hair. She told me to come back and suggested a clarifying shampoo treatment to remove some of the toner. I ended up going back for the clarifying treatment and the toner did not lift the ends. That day she told me she didn't have time to re-highlight the ends so that I would need to come back again and make another appointment. I then contacted her to make the appointment and she told me that I would have to pay to get my hair highlighted again. I explained to her that I did not feel comfortable paying for the same service twice, since it was her error. I didn't hear back from her. Days later, she texted that she spoke to her "boss", I am assuming the salon owner and that she said it would not be complementary only toner. Moral of the story, don't go to this salon and expect to get what you want because they will not stand behind their work if they make a mistake. They will expect you to pay again for them to "hopefully" fix it. And don't be like me and pay them if you are unsatisfied before leaving the salon. People like this will do what's in their best interest, so learn to say no I am not paying you as I am not satisfied with your service. You shouldn't have to pay someone twice if they made a mistake, the right thing for them to do is to fix it or refund you!
