Quintessential Wisconsin establishment! Delicious brat and cheese curds. Ordered at the bar and got our food very quickly.

Patio has uncomfortable seating, but damn these wings were bussin. Pretty expensive but other than that, definitely recommend

We were in Madison for a work conference, and being as it was our 1st time in Wisconsin, we wanted to try some brats and fried cheese curds. We overheard a couple of people talking about State Street, so that's where we headed. The brats were good but not much different than those we get at home in PA. The curds were fabulous, though!!! We have since tried them at another place, but State Street's were definitely the best. Theirs are square and have just a slight coating on them, so they seemed more like they were freshly made. The other place definitely just came out of a bag of frozen pre-made curds. As others said, State Street is a must when you visit Madison!

Exactly as I remember it. Only downside was they had the upstairs closed off for an AYCE $25 special on Sunday. We did not want to participate so we had to find a shared table downstairs. Good beer selection and some good bar food options. The tenders with fries were great. Also tried some of their cheese cubes. Those are not my favorite since the batter tastes almost sweet like a funnel cake. Otherwise, everything was great, even our server. They make you pay via toast console and we weren't able to see our bill beforehand. Had we been able to, we would have seen that there was a 3% charge to use a card. I would have used cash otherwise. Not crazy about that system but can just remember for next time.

I left here pretty underwhelmed after trying the food here-- it was probably our group's timing in arriving after the lunch rush, but the food left more to be desired. You really only get a small portion of cheese curds, they were alright but nothing too special. The brat and steak sandwich was dry and bland, as if someone pulled some beef and bratwurst off the grill that's been sitting there for hours and served it with some stale buns. I had to douse the thing with sauce to have some semblance of flavor (and to overcome the popeye's biscuit-like dryness of the overall sandwich). The place is a nice little college town bar however! Could totally see why college students would love to hang here for drinks as the vibes are pretty energetic, just needs to improve on the food.

We had first tried to eat at Bassett Street Brunch, but the service was so bad that we came here instead. Service here was great. We immediately got water and drinks, and soon after that our food came out. They have several different hamburgers, brats, appetizers and salads. I opted for the original hamburger and it was great. It came with bacon, hot pepper cheese, and a cheesy bun. I added the seasoned waffle fries and they were great. My husband had the burger and brat sandwich and really liked it. The place was very crowded and popular, with a good ambiance.

I took out lunch from here. The ambiance was good for a pub, to sit down and have a couple of drinks. I decided to go for red brat, as brat is in the name itself. But that happened to be a mistake. It was rubbery and dry. May be after a couple of drinks, I wouldn't have noticed. Cheese curd tasted good. But after eating cheese curd I got super thirsty. All I could think for the rest of the day was drink more water.

Visited 10/20/2022 Was in Maddison for the night and wanted some Famous Wisconsin Bratwursts. This was the best I could find. Very nice trendy bar & grill with great service and A small but nice menu. Started with a couple of shots Jack Daniels. Ordered a Sampler Plate to sample one of each White Brats and Red Brats and The White Cheddar Cheese Curds. The Cheese Curds were amazing left us wanting more. The Red Brat was good but The White Brat was our Favorite. Not a bad place to go hang out at in a collage town.

First time at SSB. Arrived at 10:30 am on Badger game day and the place was packed. Brats for breakfast! We walked through all three seating options--inside, upstairs, and outside before we found seating for two!! They offer a couple of different style brats, we tried the red bratwurst. It was the size of a hotdog, but tastes nothing like a hotdog. The meat is a premium beef--salty. Reminds me of a bigger, more substantial smoky link : ) This place is very festive and fun. Great place to be on game day and the food is pretty darn good, if you're a brat guy or gal. Highly recommended.

Swung by for lunch in the middle of the week and ordered a brat. Service is relatively quick but based on the price, you get more bang for your buck in the nearby brat spots in the Terrace.

Came here for an early dinner during a work trip with our team. We all ordered different types of brats, cheese curds, and some drinks. There's tons of condiments to add. I got I think the white brat and some cheese curds with a cocktail. We sat inside and they were able to accommodate our large group of over 10 people. Service was good, we were able to pay individually and the server took our orders accurately. Definitely a bar feel but good they had food. Close to campus and not too hard to find parking.

Cool atmosphere. College bar with a friendly staff. First time here and ordered the white brat with side salad. Salad was a good portion and brat was ok. Same I make at home. My brother got the red brat (German) and said it was great. Husband got the Nashville chicken sandwich and loved it. Drinks were kinda pricey but good. Loved the condiments bar. Would probably stop in and try the red brat when in town again. But overall there are a lot of better quality food places in Madison to see.

We had some old fashioneds before ordering food, and I thought they were good. Service was super attentive, especially as we delayed ordering to enjoy drinks and an appetizer for a bit. The two pieces that came out were enormous and a bit wonky shaped... made me wonder what on earth this fish looked like in its swimming days. The batter was quite tasty, crunchy but not too crunchy/hard, but it was so incredibly think I'm not sure I got fish in every bite. I took one piece home and give the fish part to my pup as a meal topper, and the ratio of breading I had to pull off compared to fish was a bit (quite a bit) much. Still, everything I ate was tasty. I got the salad with my dinner, and was so happy that it came out with quality greens instead of a chunk of iceberg type lettuce. The pub is one large space, but it is separated into a few unique areas. One side is quintessential pub with a long bar, lots of dark woods, and a good sized dining room. The other is more of a pool hall vibe where you will find the other side of the bar, several pool tables, lots of TV's, high tops, darts, etc...We have bellied up to both sides of the bar and while I like both sides, I prefer the vibe of the pub side. They have a fairly extensive food menu with several bar/pub classics such as wings, nachos and burgers. But they also offer a good variety of sandwiches, bowls, salads, soups and even tacos. While we are normally here for the drinks, we do enjoy the cheese curds, wings and poutine! Speaking of drinks, they always have a great menu of house cocktails that is constantly updated for seasonality. However, the menu did have a variety of "upscale" bar food! We ordered a fair amount but I only remember eating the curds (3/5) and fried green beans (5/5), which was my fave! PROS: I loved that we were able to try a variety of activities at our own pace! Each area had seating, enough for 6-7 people (sofas or bar stool/counter). Alcohol wipes were available. To start, we went with the poutine, because why not! The fries were crispy, gravy was velvety and the curds were firm, yet melty enough for a good cheese pull! For our mains, we both went sandwiches. I went with the Celtic Burger, which is their standard burger with added caramel iced onion, whiskey bacon jam, Irish cheddar and a garlic aioli. The burger was good and cooked well, but it was less impressive than I expected given all the goods they added to it. While the aforementioned additions sound like a flavor bomb, it was still fairly one note in overall flavor. It was still tasty, but again, not as expected. My buddy went with the corned beef sandwich. He enjoyed it, no major issues! I did appreciate that exchanging fries with fried curds was an option, especially after loaded up on fries as a starter.
