It always comes in handy that I have this unit and it doesn't hurt that it's in the NE so it's in a rather central area of EP no matter where I move. Aber is an outdoor facility, no climate control and it does get rather sandy in the units (although their is a rubber seal at the bottom of the door). The lighting is sparse at night so if you're actually coming at night you may want to leave your headlights on so you're not having to search one handed with a flashlight in the other. The entire grounds appear to be designed with flooding in mind because it's literally all downhill and each unit is up on an inch ledge. I've never had anything damaged here because of the rain. It's all still fairly new and in great condition. There's only one entrance/exit and it's controlled with a code. I kind of hate the key pad because you have to long press certain things for it to even go through which can be pretty annoying if you haven't gone in 6 months and forgot about that. Also pulling in is a little tricky if you're in a Uhaul and actually trying to reach the key pad. When I originally got this unit they had just finished building the place and I was told my unit was the very first one being rented. The owner's niece was managing Aber at the time and she was extremely nice and all, she even gave a huge discount on the unit (especially compared to where their prices are today), but I was waiting for a cookie or something. You don't tell someone they're the very first ever to do something and not give them some kind of prize. I'm in it for the cookies, man.

But the driveway where you key in your code to open the gate is pretty short. I would bet that if you have a 26' Uhaul it is going to be hanging out into traffic while you punch in your code. There is a gate in the back, so it looks like you could pull in around there if you can get them to unlock it. There is also RV parking in the back. Sign said $32/month. There is a mobile home park in the back, Del Norte Mobile Home Park (http://www.yelp.com/biz/del-norte-mobile-home-park-el-paso) so I am assuming they are both owned by the same person. I am a little concerned that I was able to walk around the whole place unnoticed. I don't think I would store an RV or similar there. I'm guessing the manager lives in the mobile home park and was just at his place while I was there...but you never know. I didn't stick around long enough to ask any questions.

Called, ask for an available unit and a quote, as it turns out, they did have 10x15 [enough to hold a 2 ish bedroom house] available for 10 dollars less than the advertised price. They have a little cart to show you the units if requested. We saw our potential one, saw that it was enough, and decided to go ahead and purchase. 1. Its 10 dollars less than website advertised 2. Check in gets 50% of first month 3. Military discount. So I went ahead and paid a year in advance.. came out to less than a month's rent currently... not bad. It's really clean, private, has a security fence /gate.. customers have to use personal security pin to to get in. Also, they sell boxes and locks at the office if you need them.
