Brought my car in for a warranty repair and my deductible was $100, by the time I was called to pick up my car (3 weeks later) my total was $800. There was no communication from the shop about any issues and to let me know that there would be more money that I would owe until it was ready for pick up. UPDATE BELOW CHECK YOUR CAMERAS FOR 09/01/23 @ 11:30, I DROVE MY VAN TO YOUR RIPOFF SHOP Dropped my van off on Sept. 1st for them to ONLY plug in the OBD reader to verify what Honda of Dalton had said which was the spark plugs need to be changed, I also asked if the driver's side sliding door could be looked at because the cable had broke, I explained to John and an elderly man in the office to ONLY do that and then call my warranty dept and then me too let me know BEFORE anything was actually done / repaired and I was told "Oh absolutely" well between Sept 1st and Sept 21st (3 weeks) I called the garage too find out a status, it was after 2 weeks before the van was even moved into the garage, at the end of EVERY SINGLE call I would tell them to call me BEFORE anything was done/replaced/repaired and John, Tony & a new guy who started the day before, would say "ooh of course", well on Sept 21st, I got a call from John telling me that they done a compression test ($224.10) for no reason nor approved by me first, and he said it passed with flying colors, so they replaced the spark plugs which I was charged $307.86 for the plugs + $188.72 labor, the plugs cost $167.94 from Advance (where they were delivered from) which means their mark up was $139.92 unheard of, at the end of the day it cost me $846.39, their mark up for the plugs $51.31 when they actually cost $27.99 minus their 10% UPDATE: CHECK YOUR CAMERAS, I DROVE MY FREAKING VAN TO YOUR SHOP!! John you are flat out lying about all of that, my warranty is still in effect and current, I have spoken to them and there is absolutely no record of you or anyone else calling to even begin a claim, my oil is changed every 3,000 miles at Valvoline in Fort Oglethorpe, NO ONE including yourself ever called me until Sept 21, the day before I picked my van up, and I'm not sure how you would know anything at all that was told to me when I dropped my van off due to you not being in there at all, Tony was the only one I dealt with that morning, and I , and as far as me not keeping my maintenance up on my vehicle, I was not driving my van during the time I was trying to get it to you, hell I may be a woman but I am no where near stupid about vehicles as you're trying to protray, I NEVER approved any work to be done only put it on the code machine and then let me know. You're lying about everything you put in your ridiculous reply, and the day I finally got my van back, I dealt with an older gentleman that I expressed all of my feelings about being lied to by YOU and the freaking price gouging you do, and his reply to me 2 time's was "all I can say is what I was told to say is, in the market" even a guy that use to work for you was there for a quote and he heard every word and his wife said "Let's go and find somewhere else".... When you finally did drop your vehicle off we communicated to you that we were 3+ weeks out on being able to get to your vehicle and we would do everything possible to get to your vehicle as quickly as possible. Your warranty company canceled you due to you not maintaining your vehicle properly by completing oil changes regularly and other normal maintenance items. We told you when we removed the spark plugs from your engine that the porcelain in the plugs had broken and gone into the combustion chamber, there was also some metal from the electrode that had broken off on the spark plugs. This is why we recommend a compression test, without we couldn't know if the cylinders were damaged due to your lack of care and maintenance. You approved the test and we completed it. Fortunately there wasn't any damage and we recommend plugs, you approved and we completed. We also looked at your doors at no charge and reported to you that they would need to be removed from the vehicle and completely gone through because some of the components were bent, actuators no longer worked and cables were broken. You declined this work. As it relates to your bill, we are a for profit business and not a charity. I wish we paid the price for your parts that you think we did. If I did I wouldn't have to work nearly as hard. I'm glad your vehicle is running well unlike it was when you towed it into us. read more

On 02/23/2023 at 9:52 am. I took my van to stateline auto I stated I thought my starter was going out or the signal wire was loose. I was quoted $380 to have my starter replaced. After waiting with my 2 small boys I was told it was definitely the signal wire. When I asked John how much it would cost I was told it was "alot cheaper than the starter" I agreed. I sat for another 2 hours before finding John again for an update. I was told it wasn't the wire and they was already putting a new starter in without approval. After another 2 hours I once again asked for an update. I was told it was almost done and needed a new oil pressure switch. I asked how much it would cost, and was told "don't worry about i have one laying around here." Finally around 2:00 I was given a bill for $937.61 and told to take it to where I bought the car. Then I was given a bill for $694.69 to pay. I stated to needed to run to the bank since it was alot more than I was quoted. John insisted he rode with me and my 2 boys to the bank. While buckling in my kids he jumped in the driver seat and said he was driving. Once at the bank he took the keys out of the car and walked away while I was at the drive thru teller. Once we returned to the shop I paid the difference and asked for my keys. I drove the the dollar general on ringgold road and found myself stranded with my car doing what it was before. I called the shop and john came to look at it. He stated it was now a battery ground missing instead of the starter. He said he would fix it for $117 an hour. After declining he left and sent me an invoice stating I paid him $294.12 read more

First of all... I would rather go to the dentist than go to an auto repair shop where they take your car, leave for a while and then come back with the "bad news"..... Then I have to take out a second mortgage to pay the bill.. That said, you want to go to someone who is honest and fair.,. My experience with SL is they are both... I have had to take my SUV there twice, once for front end work and once for bearing replacement. Matt, the mechanic I dealt with, is friendly, professional and knowledgeable and gave me great service. I had an estimate for my repairs at another shop and this shop was a little less expensive but could do the work the same day. And since I was less than 5 minutes away, they gave me a ride home when I dropped off my car. Tracy, the owner, is proud of the shop and it shows .. it is clean and the work is top notch and they did both of my repairs in one day. I still would rather go to the dentist but when I have to get my car work done.. I am going to continue to go here. read more

We took our car here for brakes that were vibrating and grinding. They replaced the rotors, but a week later we had to take the car back for brake pads??!! These people are the best!! I'm from Illinois moving down to Florida when something went wrong with my Jeep grand Cherokee! I was desperate and upset so I found state line auto care on google. Read the reviews and they were great. The took care of the problem and charged me a price you can't beat! I dropped my 2009 Chevy Traverse off on Friday, July 13, 2018. The owner Tracy Mathews said it would be done by Tuesday - Wednesday. It needed a timing chain and both axles, which I supplied all the parts. It is going on 10 weeks now. They still have my car. The owner has been ignoring and evading us for about 6 weeks. The mechanics refuse to contact him or finish my car. It is torn apart, so I can't even tow it out of there. There is no guarantee I will have all the parts. In the meantime, I am missing work, begging for ride, even getting locked out of my house, because they have my keys. There are 2 other car owners that I know of in the same situation. Their cars are there too. One other and myself already paid money and they refuse to finish or return our cars. read more
