I've been a loyal customer for over 20 years when this was Avondale Cleaners, but since the new ownership, the quality has significantly declined. Pants are not properly pressed, shirts come back unfinished, and items are sometimes returned with stains or not cleaned at all. When I raised these concerns, the manager's response was dismissive and unhelpful. At the same time, prices have nearly doubled, which makes the poor service even more frustrating. I am now looking for a new cleaner, though I understand State 48 Cleaners operates multiple locations in the area. Less than 0. Brought custom made drapes in for dry cleaning. Measured 109"x50" each panel. Picked them up and hubby hung them. OMG they were 5 in too short and 2" shorter on width. I brought them in invoice with picture of drape and measurements. They said they would try to restretch but instead said to come Pick them up as they couldn't have shrunk that much! I brought in the receipt for the purchase of them showing the measurements. No so sorry or anything- just referred to waiver they made me sign. Spoke with the owner and she was condescending. Great service from the owner Kennedy and Tabitha. They provide next day service but frequently one the positive side your order is ready early. They have a text messaging system in place to notify you of your order's status. They also have a status displaying the progress of your specific order. Brought my work uniform to get dry cleaned, lady at register said it would be about five days. Pretty cool thing is that they text you when your clothes is ready to be picked up , which was about three days later-early :-) Establishment has a lot of clutter, it's loud, hot and a lot going on... Absolutely awful. Took in some very important clothing to be cleaned and pressed, and I got one item back with a burn and tear. Took them back in only to be told that there was absolutely no way it was them. For reference, I had purchased pants and taken them in not even a day afterward; there is no way that I was able to BURN them. Staff was very condescending and hostile, especially a heavy set lady who seemed to be trying to intimidate. A day after I took the pants back, I was told they could give me STORE CREDIT for the damages. After I informed them there was absolutely no way I was accepting that, they said they could offer cash. I accepted the cash, but apparently this was not cash for the damages. No, they decided that they were buying the pants from me. I was not informed of this beforehand, and when I came in to ask about the pants they demanded I give them the cash back for them. DO NOT BRING YOUR CHERISHED ITEMS HERE. IF THEY ARE DAMAGED THEN THEY WILL DENY IT WAS THEM, THEN ATTEMPT TO BUY YOU WITH STORE CREDIT. IF YOU DO NOT ACCEPT THE STORE CREDIT THEY WILL KEEP YOUR ITEMS HOSTAGE UNTIL YOU PAY THEM FOR THEM. Store credit does NOT harm their business at all, and you are further putting your items at risk. I was really disappointed at how much the pricing had changed in 2 years. A king sized comforter 2 years ago for laundering was $25. Recently dropped off same comforter and now they are charging $40. Did laundering really go up that much?! I felt like I had no other option but to drop it off and pay that price. A few weeks ago, I dropped off my clothes to be laundered and dry cleaned. I was inadvertently charged twice. When I picked up the clothes, I explained to the girl at the counter I was overcharged. She told me she was unable to help me as she had no authorization but said she would relay a message to the owner who was scheduled to return back to work the next day at 8:00am. She also gave me a business card so that I had the information in case I needed it. That evening I received a telephone call from the owner. She said she verified I was overcharged and returned the money to me. The next day the money was in my account. Great Customer Service!!! I have not even picked up my curtains that are getting altered and I'm already iffy about it.. they were supposed to be ready yesterday and I called they said they are not ready yet have not been returned then while I'm on the phone they said oh yeah they are here they'll be ready tomorrow .. I get a call today about getting them pressed and I told them they are brand new they were not wrinkled when I dropped them off .. they said they would not need to be pressed .. then she told me they are ok not wrinkled WTH!!! Haven't had to use a dry cleaners in years. Then I got a job that wanted pressed blouses. Ok so after using a few different cleaners and not liking them, I found Avondale cleaners. I really like them. The employees are friendly Anna happy to get your business. They run their cleaners as I remember cleaners as a kid. That button the top button, skip a button and button the next button. A paper then gets slid over the top of the blouses and then the plastic see-thru bag over all that. Good job!! read more

I was bringing my work uniform here for about 6 months. This dry cleaners kept ruining my zipper and it needed to be replaced. The 3rd time the owner said it's not their fault because they don't press the zipper, it's only steamed. I went here because of the price. $3.50 for shirt and $3.50 for pants. After the 3rd time the owner said she would fix my shirt but I needed to find a new dry cleaner. I picked up my shirt today and all they did to the zipper was wax it, not even replace the zipper. This company are rude and unbelievable. I sure will pass it along for no one to go there. I know a lot of late enforcement and I will tell them NOT TO USE THEM. read more

I dropped a white comforter and 2 pillow cases off there to get dry cleaned. They said it would take a week which seemed like a while but I was convinced it would be worth it so I waited. I pick everything up a week later and nothing is white anymore -- the comforter and pillow cases look like an off brown to me now and the ends of the comforter are all rolled and messed up. Honestly I could have just threw it in the washer and did a better job at home. I'm frustrated i paid $41 for a very expensive comforter to now be ruined. I'll never be going back here. read more

STAY AWAY!!! Please learn from me it took the 3 issues for me to finally realize this place is a damn disaster. 1st issue: they lost my moms comforter she brought in for cleaning and they swear up and down she picked it up but OBVIOUSLY she didn't and they lost it. This was over 3 years ago. So whatever we let that go(since they're down the street from our house and it's convenient and prices are reasonable) 2nd issue: I dropped a maternity dress off to be pressed. They told me it would be ready in 3 days at 6 pm. Perfect. I went to pick it up on the day they said it would be ready and it's sitting in the same spot I dropped it off in NOT pressed. The owner (Chinese lady) was looking for it and finally realized they NEVER did it. Her explanation "sorry we forgot." I asked how do you forget to do something? And she quickly went to the back to do it. So here I am standing in this hot ass place for 20 min. No discount, nothing. 3rd issue: they hemmed my moms pants and made one leg longer then the other! Then have nerve to complain about it. Like it's your fault! When are you guys going to take responsibility for your issues and provide better customer service?! This place is god awful. You definitely get what you pay for: shitty service, horrible employees, lost items, or items not even done. Go somewhere else and save yourself the headache. read more

DO NOT TAKE VALUABLE ITEMS. The attitudes, the dishonesty, the disrespect, the lack of accountability, and the lack of care and empathy for others belongings was mind blowing. I don't know how a business expects to stay open . I would never recommend their service to anyone , especially anything regarding valuable clothing items. I took my wedding dress here to be cleaned for $200 and they completely destroyed the jeweled belt around the waist. I noticed it walking out to my car, nobody said a word until I walked back in and told them it was broken, and then Rather than apologizing They said that the belt was loose and already missing pieces when I brought it in... absolutely lying and placing the blame on me; I took pictures before dropping it off thank god. Then they said their seamstress could "fix it for me." I come back and the "fixed" belt was a disaster and falling apart. The owner offered to "buy the missing jewels" if that's what I wanted or replace the belt (after implying the quality of it all to be very cheap). I decide to re-purchase the original belt ($147 from the bridal company) and to have them refund us for it all as I didn't want to change a single thing about the dress, but I decided to use our own seamstress because the work they presented on the "fixed" belt was not convincing at all. I brought in the receipts and the owner was fine refunding me the belt cost but was extremely hesitant refunding me for the actual money I paid them to take care of and clean the dress. I'm an attorney, so I do not professionally dry clean often, as I have a lot of suits that I wear on a regular basis. Most of the time I just Dryel my suits and call it a day, then get them professionally dry cleaned a few times a year to save costs. I also have three cats, and somehow or another, cat marking ended up on two, four hundred dollar suits. I dryel'ed them, hoping that would fix it. It did not. It made the situation significantly worse. So I took them here to the cleaners hoping they could be salvaged. Lawyer though I may be, suits are expensive! I gave them the four pieces in the dryel bag and told them to throw away the bag (and use gloves! Gross). If the suits could be clean, I don't mind buying another dryel bag. I was told it would be done by Friday at 6pm. I came in on Saturday, my suits were ready to go. Not only did they save all four pieces, but they cleaned the dryel bag. No cat smell! My total bill was $15.82, for four pieces + a bag I told them to throw away. I'm pretty impressed, but it seems like other people have not had good experiences. I came home and felt like I should put in my two cents. Would recommend, and would visit again (I'm from out of town but my parents live nearby). read more

We have been using Avondale Cleaners infrequently for a while now. Prices are a bit high but we were satisfied until recently when the cleaner miscounted our pieces and quoted $17 for a suit, then tried to charge $8 extra for a single vest. He agreed to charge the original price, but he removed the vest from our bag and refused to give it back until we paid him extra. We will not be using this cleaner again. read more

I frequently come here to have school patches sewn onto my son's shirts, as he wears a uniform. Avondale Cleaners always does an outstanding job of removing the patches from the outgrown shirts, and sewing them onto the new shirts. Without them, I would be spending a small fortune buying brand new shirts just for the patches! Not only are the shirts ready in a timely manner, the cost is very affordable! read more

Prices are reasonable, so for this they get the one star, but they really deserve ZERO! Took some linen drapes to get dry cleaned and upon returning home after they were cleaned, I discovered a huge hole AND they shrunk!!! Needless to say, these can no longer be used. When I went to back to the cleaner's, I approached the woman owner first, who told me she could not speak to me about this and that only her husband could handle this situation. I returned another day to speak with the husband and he told me I should be speaking to his wife because she handles these types of issues! When I put my foot down and said I would not leave until he rectified this for me, he simply stated that I could not prove my drapes were damaged at the cleaner's, therefore, nothing would be done. Several years ago I brought in a dress that basically needed to be sized down and become a new dress; the owner was able to do that, and had an amazing New Years dress. The dress I brought in last week was a little more simple and just needed an inch shortened. It came out perfect, and now I'm ready for the wedding I'm attending. Went there this morning before work to pick up my dry cleaning. First time here. They had a new girl up front and she found my first ticket of 7 shirts. Then did something wrong on the computer and cleared the screen. So, she couldn't find my other clothes(4 pants, 1 polo shirt). She was searching, then would stop to take care of other customers. This went on for over 20 minutes before the owners came. 10 minutes later, they found my pants. They could not locate my last shirt. Their resolve? Not to charge me for the shirt they could not find. As i looked at my shirts, also noticed i need to now iron all 7 of my shirts. Completely wrinkled. I posted the pics on their facebook page. Horrible service. Horrible response. Horrible work done. Extremely expensive prices, and very poor service. Prices for cleaning and alterations are extremely high. For that reason alone, you should go to another dry cleaner. However, if a mistake is made or something is not done correctly, the owner will stare blankly at you and say "I don't understand" over and over again. Took my wife's clothing here. 4 dresses and 2 blouses including a $395 Burberry blouse. When I picked up the clothes, I was in a rush they counted six pieces and I took them home. When I got home I noticed the Burberry blouse was gone and replaced by a $5 swap meet t-shirt. I spoke with the owner they basically said I lied and offered me $50.
