I was in an accident and chose this office because of its great reviews and reputation. I've come in for cleanings twice now, and each visit has cost me a good amount of money. I understand that my dental situation is more complex than most, but what has been frustrating is that I never seem to get time with the doctor to discuss a treatment plan or next steps. During my last visit, I was recommended sealants and whitening. I arrived, paid around $1,400 for the cleaning, sealants, and whitening, and when I sat down, Dr. Yaz simply said, "Open up." I assumed she was examining my teeth, but after a few moments she said, "Almost done." At that point I finally asked, "Wait, is this the sealants?" and she said yes. That was surprising and honestly frustrating. Why wasn't the procedure explained beforehand? I barely felt anything being done and didn't even know what treatment I was receiving in the moment, which left me wondering whether everything I paid for had actually been completed. As someone who genuinely wants and needs dental work done, communication matters. Later, I had my cleaning with a hygienist who was wonderful and very kind. After that, I was taken for Zoom whitening. They sat me down, applied gel to my teeth, and told me it was for the whitening process. Then I sat with the light in my mouth for what felt like forever. Eventually someone came back, applied more gel, and started another round. I've never had Zoom whitening before, so I had no idea what to expect. It would have made such a difference if someone had simply explained the process beforehand, for example, "We're doing four rounds and each round lasts X minutes." Instead, I spent the entire time wondering when it would be over while my mouth became increasingly uncomfortable. The final disappointment was that I have a tooth with bonding on it, and apparently the whitening gel wasn't applied to the natural portion of that tooth because it was overlooked that only part of it was bonded. As a result, the natural part of the tooth remained darker than the rest of my teeth. Again, everyone I interacted with was kind and friendly, and I don't doubt that the office is busy. My issue is the lack of communication and patient education throughout the process. When patients are spending significant amounts of money and undergoing treatments they aren't familiar with, taking a few minutes to explain what's happening can make a huge difference.

When I called to schedule my first appointment, the front office receptionist was very helpful and friendly. She was able to help me schedule a date and time that worked with my schedule. They were patient with me and took the time to answer all my questions. When I walked in for my appointment, the front office staff were welcoming and it helped me ease my nerves. They helped me check in and I was called in quickly. Alicia was kind and patient, and helped me with my questions concerning my insurance. The dental hygienist/ assistant was so nice and gentle. She made sure I was comfortable and I was thankful for this because I have sensitive teeth. The dentist was kind and takes the time to learn more about his patients and addressed my concerns.
