Went to OC Smiles on Friday 3/13/26 for a loose implant because my dentist is closed on Fridays…read more Helena was great and the only good thing i will have to say about my experience. I didn't need a diagnosis, since I told the dentist that my implant was loose. He decided to take a ct scan, charge me for it and charge me for his false "diagnosis." $290 later.. he told me I need a New crown and wanted me to pay $2900 to return for 2 more visits to "fix" it. I Declined his outrageous treatment plan, knowing my implant was just loose. I waited until Monday with no problems and went to my dentist Dr. John Vartanian (Newport Beach) who did the implant for me. He tightened the screw and I was out of there in 10 minutes for free. I believe SoCal Smiles owes me $290 back for their unnecessary scan and incorrect diagnosis. They were trying to sell me something I didn't need and I'm quite upset about how this was handled when I brought it to their attention. I would go elsewhere and not trust this place with your time or money.

When I called to schedule my first appointment, the front office receptionist was very helpful and friendly. She was able to help me schedule a date and time that worked with my schedule. They were patient with me and took the time to answer all my questions. When I walked in for my appointment, the front office staff were welcoming and it helped me ease my nerves. They helped me check in and I was called in quickly. Alicia was kind and patient, and helped me with my questions concerning my insurance. The dental hygienist/ assistant was so nice and gentle. She made sure I was comfortable and I was thankful for this because I have sensitive teeth. The dentist was kind and takes the time to learn more about his patients and addressed my concerns. When I returned, Dr. Sky filled three other teeth but completely overlooked the tooth with the missing filling--the original reason I came in. I had to remind him about the initial issue, and even after he finally refilled that tooth, the new filling fell out immediately when I flossed. He redid the filling the next day, but I'm concerned about the quality and durability of his work. Now, not only did that filling fail initially, but I'm also experiencing problems with all of the other fillings he worked on. I've been advised that I need to have them all refilled elsewhere. This experience makes it seem like the practice is more interested in billing my insurance than delivering quality dental care. Unnecessary fillings, poor workmanship, and the need to redo everything has left me extremely disappointed. I would not recommend Light Breath Dental based on this experience.

He then asked if I wanted to remove and replace that tooth too but I would have had to pay for it myself. At that point, I honestly just wanted to leave because I was afraid more damage could happen. I originally went in for work on one tooth that only had a stain. Somehow, I was convinced to replace that tooth, but the process ended up involving shaving down the two healthy teeth next to it in order to place the replacement tooth in the middle. If I had known from the beginning that this was the plan, I would have never agreed to it. Now the chipped tooth has a white mark/stain that people constantly mistake for food stuck between my teeth. On top of that, I was told the dental work would last around 10 years, but it did not even last 6. I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience with this dentist.
