We ended up getting ten pounds of Canadian Harmony and Starfire peaches. I can't forget the lovely aroma of the freshly picked peaches. It was 5 star friendly service from the entrance to checkout. They answered all our questions as first timers. They provided boxes with wagons available. They told us the row numbers of the available peaches. There is also a board after the entrance that listed the row numbers and peach varieties. Check their website first before going to confirm if they are open because hours may vary. It appears to be updated daily. When I checked in the morning, it showed the hours for that day were 8:00 am - 12:00 pm. It helped us plan our day as we decided to arrive sooner than later as the parking lot filled up. We are now going to include peach picking as part of our annual summer activities.

Parking can get filled up quickly but everyone was so friendly and helpful with tips about picking and the locations of the different varieties. The young man in the golf cart made sure me and my toddler were on the right path and also checked on and chatted with other people too. When we went there were Red Star, Vivid, and Starfire so we went around and picked a few of each. Check out was easy peasy with their scale and they also had local products and picked peaches ready for purchase. The young ladies at check-in were so nice and helped take pictures of us by their "Just Peachy" sign and put my wagon back for me (since I had my toddler with me and am also very pregnant lol). The service is amazing here, turned out to be a fun family activity, and of course the peaches were juicy and sweet. The owners, Kristin & Jason, are some of the most humble, kind, helpful, and thoughtful people. Their kids work alongside them too, so this truly is a family business in every sense. Ask them about just about any product and they are beyond knowledgeable, and if they don't have what you're looking for, they'll make just about any inquiry on your behalf to see if they can make it happen. They feature local fruits, veggies, fungi, bread, desserts, pickles, dairy products, eggs, cider, kombucha, and so much more. I couldn't list everything even if I tried because they are ALWAYS bringing in new products and finding new local goodies. They're also so much more than a produce stand. They host community events like night markets, have the Dongbei Dumpling truck on Thursdays, and regularly feature other local artists, makers, and vendors. When the whole SNAP benefits nightmare happened, many places were giving out to those of us who are on benefits. I was grateful and held onto my credit which worked out perfectly. I got a last minute invite for Thanksgiving with friends and I wanted to make a few dishes to bring. My $20 credit was good till 11/30 so I spent a little over $6 on my SNAP card. All their produce is from local farms and I was in shock as to how gorgeous it is. Certain root vegetables like rutabegga, turnips and pearl onions can be challenging to get but they had them and they were some of the best I've ever seen! I couldn't resist some lemons and blood oranges because they looked so amazing. I also had to get apples, kale, and green onions. I realized I was dancing around while bagging some produce to 'Can I Kick It?' by A Tribe Called Quest... they even play good music??? You go to the farm to pick up your CSA goods in a small room. There is always good music playing and it's nice and cool inside. All the veggies (and fruit sometimes) is laid out on tables and there are clear signs as to how much of each item you can take. For instance, you can take two leeks, 3 lbs of carrot, a bag of lettuce, etc. I really like the way they set this up, because if you're not a fan of something, you can skip it and not let it go to waste in your fridge or pantry. They send out emails to go with the week and give you storage information and cooking recipes for the food you are getting that week. It's a lovely touch and I appreciate the information, especially when it's with something I don't normally get on my own. It's a wonderful thing to support local farms and farmers, so I'm thrilled we found Working Hands Farm. I also suggest you follow their Instagram! After seeing a sign on the main road, I followed it to a lighted reader board out in front of an immaculate home and farm, about a quarter mile west of Highway 47. I was right away struck by how pretty and well-maintained the grounds and stand area were. The proprietors and 2 friendly dogs greeted me. My sunflowers were personally cut from a large garden near the stand, while I browsed for corn and cucumbers that looked too delicious to pass up. It was a very hot day, and she took extra care to choose individual flowers that would last a while in the weather. The price was extremely reasonable, 6 stems for $2.50. Their website notes that the young brother and sister owners are 4th generation farmers of the land, descended from the orignal Dutch farming community of Verboort. Neat! They grow heirloom seeds, tomatoes, corn, pumpkins, peppers, string beans, onions, carrots, gourds and squash, in addition to cukes, corn and fantastic sunflowers. Ben's is open during August, September and October from noon to dusk (sixish), and, if they happen not to be there, a sign on the counter says they offer self service on the honor system. A nice touch--this does not happen in Portland! I've already recommended Ben's to a couple of people in Forest Grove. I'm happy to support this sustainable, community-oriented business and will make a point to go back whenever I'm in the area.

Everyone was very friendly and helpful, and the quality was top-notch. I picked up some incredible blackberries, blue-cheese-stuffed olives (and they had samples!), and a bottle of a tasty local rum, and had a great chat with a vendor about how to use zucchini blossoms. The tamales, horchata, and fresh loaves of bread looked delicious and will be on my shopping list for next time. They had a table with activities for kids, and even a fun scavenger hunt for adults. If you are in the area on Saturday morning it is worth a stop.
