Terrible. Terrible. Terrible! Decided to come here last minute despite all the negative reviews, because I needed my nails done urgently. I called in the morning and booked an appointment for the afternoon that day to get a shellac manicure and pedicure. The service was meh, but I'm used to that at many nail salons. Most places (unless they are high end, or located in yaletown or something), the service is usually rushed, and their motive seems to be to just get the job done quickly and move on to the next customer. So I really have no issue with the service here. What I'm disappointed about is how long (or short should I say) my nails lasted. It's only been 3 days and my nails already started cracking and the nail polish starting peeling off. Usually shellac lasts for 2 weeks minimum. It's only been THREE days! I paid $80 including tips to get his done, and it only lasted me a few days. I could have bought a regular nail polish at shoppers, and did them myself, and it would even last longer than these 'professionally' done nails. Really a disappointment, especially having paid almost a hundred bucks for these. Will definitely not recommend. read more

Came here after having a not so great experience with the nail salon near my house. I've been here once or twice a few years ago and forgot how great it is. Mandy did my nails and she was so friendly and detail oriented. She really paid attention to my nail shape and if I was happy and gave her honest opinion on if something would look good or not. So happy with my nails and definitely recommend this place. They have loyalty cards too. read more

I have been a faithful customer for years. I work across the street & have sent dozens of customers their way. I have seen 3 owners come & go, but today my heart was broken. I asked a friend to meet me there, like I often do, & when it came to paying, the bill it was. $17. More per person/ per shellac. We were never told this before our treatment & when I asked why??? She just said "sparkle 15 dollar more. I complained. & asked why they didn't tell us ahead of time of the increase, she just said here is the menu. I am not a mind reader, how were we to know? I was a customer who went there every 4 weeks for years. So just the heads up to all, same price as Vancouver charges. Wth? read more

Starlit Nails - Look how short , & bumpy & only took her 15 min to do for $36.75 rip off! - Nail Salons Near Me - Richmond, British Columbia

Today I went in to get 1 nail removed and shellac, the "technician" didn't know how to remove acrylics (that I had done there previously). She not only did not remove the nail, she butchered my natural nail shape by cutting back the nail while the fake was still attached and sliced into my real nails down to the nail bed. I was bleeding and in severe pain no apology and no offer of a bandaid. I will NEVER go back here, they are not properly training staff before working with customers. My fake nail is still attached and have my real nail cut in the middle but attached above and below where she cut it. Hours later I am still in serious pain. read more

worst acrylic nail removal ever. it's been over two weeks and still dealing with it. will never go there again.

I've been seeing Mandy on and off for the past 5 years. The quality of the work and the service seems to be getting worse and worse. I won't be returning. Their prices are reasonable but it's not worth it. During my last visit, I paid for a manicure that I didn't even receive. It was basically the exact same application that I had gotten in my previous appointments for gel nails, no dipping your fingers into lukewarm water, no lotions, no oils, no nothing... Won't be coming back read more

They did a really good job with my nails but when it was time to remove them, they didn't know how to do it properly and not only did they make the process painful but my nails got damaged a lot. I haven't been able to grow my nails since January because they are so weak and damaged after the bad removal they did. read more

Despite the numerous bad reviews i've heard about this place i decided i would give it a try and I can say confidently my most recent visit here will be my last visit. The nail technician added too many coats which caused the colour to be much darker than i had asked for as well as the chipping of the acrylic nails. When i went back to see id they would be able to fix it they were extremely rude and ordered me to pay. There are many nail salons in this area, yes they are a bit pricier but i would advise you to pay a little extra for much better service and quality. read more

SO INCREDIBLY BAD! STAY FAR FAR AWAY!!! If I had the opportunity to give them 0 stars, I would! walked in having an acrylic set and asked for a fill, but because I had one broken nail and another one almost falling off, they asked I get a new set. I said sure and then as she proceeded to take them off she began to RIP THEM off one by one. If they didn't come off by ripping them she'd pull out scissors and try to cut them off. I told the girl I was in PAIN and saying ouch but she either just chuckled or say "it's almost off just wait". She was training someone else and she just watched as well. As I had enough on the 3rd or 4th nail, I asked if she had the solution and the tin foil which was the proper way of removing fake nails. My nail technician had said she had "never heard of it and no such thing". She then proceeded to put acrylics on my EXTREMELY DAMAGED nails which were in pain and I could feel the bottom of the nail. WHICH IS RIDICULOUS! and then when I went to go pay she charged me an additional $25 for the removal and the new set. Sorry but if you needed to rip them off and cause me pain, I could've done it at home and not gone to a nail spa. Save your $$ and your time to go to a different nail spa. This place needs to be shut down. I've gone to many nail spas and have my nails done for many years and this is the first time I've ever received this treatment. read more

Tracy is the best nail tech! I've been a long time customer at starlit nails. I always walk out very satisfied with my nails. Everyone is so sweet and nice and they will do your nails the way you want them done. The price for it is fairly cheaper than most nail salons too. They also do waxing and pedicures so if you want a mini spa day starlit nails will definitely be of help. I highly recommend every girl that loves to get their nails done to go to starlit. xoxo read more

You get what you pay for here.. Literally ruined my nails from a gel removal and did everything that makes a nail salon worth 1 star. It's nice because it's a cheap price but they genuinely don't really care about your nails. read more

Best set of french tips i've ever had. I went on boxing day at 4pm, they helped me within 45 mins for an appointment. Great service. Price was outstanding for the quality. I usually pay 45-50$ for french tip acrylics - these ladies only charged me 35$ after tax. read more

Cheap, basic, Shellac Mani-Pedi. Went in in the middle of the week and there was one other customer there. Got done in under an hour. I'm an introvert so no conversation was good to me. Watched TV or used my phone. End result was ok and I was actually glad it was so fast because I had somewhere to be, but I might just take the time to get an appointment at a better (almost same price) place in Vancouver. read more

I am usually not picky about nail places but seriously Starlit Nails IS THE WORSE. I went in for a quick acrylic remove and during the 30 minutes I was there, the lady bashed the other nail bar that I previously got my acrylics done at. Not only did that seem rude SHE RUINED MY NAILS. Two of my nails are internally bruised because she tried to TEAR OFF my acrylics. Not the whole layer was taken off, only the colouring while SOME PARTS ARE STILL ATTACHED TO MY FINGER. I told her several times that it was hurting and I even had to take my hand away from her because it was painful. THE LADY KEPT GOING WITH THE SAME METHOD AND BLAMED THE OTHER NAIL BAR FOR THEIR ACRYLIC SET. She used so much strength to tear my acrylics off that she even made dents into my actual nail(the while lines you see in the photo). No, you don't do that. Last but not least, she scratched my pinky so bad that it started bleeding, she didn't stop the bleeding or disinfect it, SHE JUST SAID "oh I didn't do anything, it's because your acrylic set is bad that's why" THAT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE. THIS PLACE IS HONESTLY SO BAD THAT I AM SO FRUSTRATED AND REALLY MAD. read more

If I had a choice to put zero stars I would but unfortunately no option for that. I went in for a pedi and before she started I told her not to file down my big toes because I had already shaped them so guess what she did she decided to cut the nail on my big toes so I asked her why did you do that when I said not to touch them in the first place and I made myself clear and she replied they werent even to make up for her mistake long story short she didn't listen to me she went ahead and did What she thought looks better im the customer hello...so I was very upset and one of the other ladies said she was evenning out your nail why are you mean I said because she didnt listen to what I wanted I was so upset I didnt want the pedi anymore and than they had the audacity to say you need to pay for the nail polish that we removed thats all she did and oh yeah cut my nail and totally ruin my the shape I said I'm not paying and i left ! And on top of that they were being so bitchy to me giving me attitude dont ever go to starlit I don't recommend this place to anyone I don't even know how there still in bussiness im pretty sure im not the first disappointed customer ...in short they are horrible horrible tearable service read more

I'll never go there again, it always seems to be Jessica or Mandy who worked on my nails. At first everything was fine great, but after going there just a few times, they started getting rough with my nails and sloppy. When i would ask to correct it they would just say its my fault for asking for it! Even though its the same shape they were able to do all the other times! It got to the point where they started to tell me if i don't like it then i can leave and find another place, while Jessica was in the middle of doing my nails! I would not recommend this place at all. Its way over priced for the quality and service you get. The 1 start is strictly for quality. There service deserves a 0. read more

spent 42$ for pedicure, left unhappy. even though i made an appointment, i still waited 45 mins, including 30 mins with feet in cold water...no single apology just ignored it. skillful but my butt was really hurting from sitting for 1 hour and 45 mins. staff don't bother say a word to their customers, they chat amongst themselves non-stop in their language. in the end, no one even told me it was done, they simply walked away and i had to figure out myself--okay it's time for me to pay and get out of there...honestly, there are so so many nail salons out there, why would i go back there spend money and feel mistreated :S read more

I've been to this nail salon twice but will never go back again. I did a set of acrylics both times, the first time I got it done with some jewels that fell off after 2 days, and the glue was really obvious. I asked for almond tip and they gave me round.. BUT, they were able to do it within an hour which was the fastest I've ever gotten them done. the second time, I decided to go for a more basic look, so I only added jewels to my ring finger. they told me they were Swarovski crystals, but then some color started to peak through after a few days.. and it turned out to be different multi-Coloured jewels that were painted silver. they charged me $10 per nail for the "Swarovski crystals" I also tried to redeem a promo offer they had on their Instagram for 15% off but they tried to play it cool and pretend they didn't know what I was talking about, until I had to actually pull it up on my phone. never coming back here again read more

I would definitely give it 0 out of 5 stars. Worst nail place I have ever been to because they were so bitchy and kept poking me with their nails while doing mine. They are definitely racist. I recommend you never go here. read more

I went to this salon yesterday because it was the closest salon to an appointment i had nearby. I went in at 12:45 and she said she could take me at 1:15. I asked how long it would take for a pedicure since i had to leave at 2oclock and she said 25 minutes total. I came back just before 1:15 and she set me up in the chair and then proceeded to start a manicure on a lady who appeared to have walked in just before my 1:15 appointment. I sat with my feet soaking in the water for 30 minutes before i finally asked how much longer it would be since i had to leave. She said 5 more minutes. So i ended up waiting 35 minutes and ended up getting a 15 minute rushed manicure.. and still was charged full price (and no apology). It was a waste of time and money and I definitely would not go back. read more

Used to see Amy, and always had fantastic nails. Since Amy left I saw Jessica, she did a nice job but she slipped when grinding down my old acrylic set and cut a chunk out of the top of my finger. I work in the beauty industry and when paying so much every 2 weeks at their salon I expect better service from someone who is trained in they service they are providing. Wish they would clean up and disinfect more between each client as well. I will not go back, nor recommend anyone there anymore. read more

Was a drop in for mani and pedi. I've never had it where they do both while you're sitting in the pedicure chair. At first I thought cool, very efficient but it was quite difficult to try to keep my feet still for the one girl while I twisted so the other girl could do my opposite hand. My manicure was shellac and turned out great but the UV light they used for my shellac also burned my hands the first few times I put it in. I've never had that happen, I don't know if it was a wrong bulb or something? The woman told me it was because my nails were "so thin" or that some people have allergies. Considering I had no allergic reaction to the paint, I'm going to discredit that and it wasn't burning on my nail but underneath so I have no idea what the issue was. My pedicure actually hurt a few times while she was cleaning the cuticles and even though I sat there for it to dry under the fan for about 15-20 minutes and wore flip flops out, my polish smudged as soon as I got home :/ Also heads up - I did not see an autoclave in there and it seemed like after they did my pedicure they just rinsed the tools under water.... Super unsanitary. Really really glad I asked her to not use the heel scraper thing now that I know their tools aren't sterilized in between customers. Gross. Will not be returning. read more

I have been coming to get my nails done at starlit for the past year and a half because i loved their work and prices. I've been away from the past 4 months and today i went back to starlit to get a gel set as usual ans had such a frustrating experience. I think its time to look for another place. The girl wanted to charge me almost $80 for something that i was used to paying $45 for and kept telling me that what i wanted was too complicated. What i wanted was simply color...didn't even have fancy decorations or anything. It ended up forcing me to change what i was getting. I was so excited to get the nails i had been looking at for weeks and then was so disappointed with her rudeness. I Was only going by what i had previously paid and whay it said on the website. I don't know where she was getting her prices from. It also didnt make me feel any better that her and all the other girls who were working gathered around me, staring and talking about me in Vietnamese almost the entire time. RUDE MUCH! Definitely thinking twice before going back. read more

I want to say I've never written a bad review in my life. I've experienced bad service but never to the point of wanting to write a review about it. First off, I had made an appointment for 11:30am but I tend to always show up to my appointments a bit early (this was no exception). I politely walked in and told them to take their time because I knew I was early and she was in the middle of finishing up with a customer. The two technicians working began to shit talk the customer that was before me. They were speaking Vietnamese to each other, I guess thinking I couldn't understand them but little do they know I am fluent in Vietnamese. They were making racist comments alluding to the fact that she was dark skinned. They were making snarky comments like "Her skin is so dark and she chose a color so dark, I can't tell if I'm painting her nails or her skin." I was immediately turned off. One of the women looked back at me at one point I guess to see if I had reacted but of course I played it cool and pretended I had no idea. When I finally got seated, the technician, I think her name was Jessica, initially did a great job with my acrylic set, she gave me the shape I wanted and was polite when I had asked her to file my nails done a bit shorter. It got bad when she started to paint my nails. She kept complaining to the other technician, in Vietnamese again of course, about how difficult my nails were to paint because my hand has a slight tilt to the side. She was making comments like "I can't stand her nails/This is so annoying/She's making my work look so bad/She's going to have to deal with this shit job/It's her own fault." I was appalled but when I asked her what was the matter, she just smiled and said "Oh nothing, I'm just going to repaint them." After about 20 minutes of repainting them she told me I had to choose a different color. I refused of course because why am I not allowed to choose my own color? That absolutely makes no sense. Her and coworker continued to talk shit about me and the other customer, Jessica even tried to talk shit to me about the other girl which I found extremely unprofessional. After 1.5 hours she finally finished. My nails were clumpy and the sides weren't even filled in. She kept smiling and saying "Okay, finished." while in Vietnamese told the other girl "I'm over it. I don't wanna work on it anymore." I paid and left but as I was walking out the door I overheard Jessica saying "Her nails are too difficult to work with." Needless to say, I am never coming back again. read more

I have been their customer for years. However, past 6 months I am not going there anymore and actually I have hard time finding good nail salon around Richmond Center area. Reason I stopped going there is not quality of their service - somehow they always did great job with my ombre or any gel nails and gel pedicure. I was always happy with that, even if it breaks it 1-2 days or even a week they were always good to me in the way they would take me in and fix it. However, since Jessica (the main owner) at a time, I'm not sure if she left the business, but she was definitely not interested anymore. Mandy who was "running" salon in meantime would be so rude, not even that much to me as much as to other customers. But still she wouldn't stop on Vietnamese with other girls and they would laugh and look at me weird and they would say "we are talking how beautiful you are" Which trough the time started to piss me off even more because I'm 100%sure they were not saying that. Not to mention that if you show up 10 min earlier to your appointment you would still wait 15-20, but if you're late then they give you shit or they just take walk in customer and say come other day, they don't have time. Even if you call in and say I'm 5 min away or anything. My main complaint is customer service. Plus I would always leave at least $15 tip so that could be reason they have treated me just a 5% better than other customers. So many time customer would leave then they would start saying shit even on English or tell me "she's fat", "ugly", "dirty" and so on. So watch out dear ladies where are you leaving your hard earned money. Rather pay more and be treated better somewhere else. FYI, they are not even cheap at all. So many salons in DT Vancouver are way cheaper. E.g. Gel on natural nails plus gel manicure $145, and Mandy would change prices out of her mind the way she liked it that day. read more

I just want to start off by saying that I have never left a negative review for any services. I've been going to starlit for the last few months because of the price and decent quality. No comments on the service because there really isn't any. Today I made an appointment to get a shellac color change but they ended up giving me a manicure so charging me an extra $8. They lady never asked what shape of nail I wanted so I told her I wanted them round. Before I could finish my sentence she cut me off and said "I'm not done yet." I told her again when she was finally done and she's like oh you wanted round? In the end, my nails turned out half round half squared. Off to a bad start already. When it was time to pay I used my debit card and as usual I pulled out my card when it said approved. There was something wrong with their machine and the receipt printed without an amount but no message saying transaction incomplete. I showed the lady the approved message and she saw it. She asked me to try again and I refused because it clearly said approved. I called my bank on the spot to confirm and it indeed went through. I stood there waiting for them to fix their machine when it really wasn't my problem that it wasn't working. I've done everything on my end to ensure I've paid. I was really frustrated with the experience especially when they tried to get me to pay again and making me wait until they fixed THEIR problem. I'm NEVER going back again and I urge you to do the same. read more
